2 Geographic Location The countries that border russia are Finland, Georgia, Ukraine, Mongolia and Norway. The total land area of Russia is 10,176,657 and it is ranked Number one in the world. The total land area of Russia s coastline is 23,396 miles long. Russia s capital is Moscow.
3 Climate and Landscape The climate of russia ranges from humid continental to subarctic to tundra. The winters vary from cool to frigid. They have broad plains with low hills, their is vast coniferous forest and there are tundra s in siberia. Their is uplands and mountains along the southern region, and west are the ural mountains and lake baikal which is the largest freshwater lake.
4 The lay of the land The major natural resources is oil, natural gas, coal, rare earth elements and timber percent of the land is used for farming 49.4 is used for forest and 37.5 is used for other. Some of the major environmental problems of russia is volcanism and spring floods. Citizen s live in the westernmost of the country.
5 Russia s History The origins of Russia take back many many thousands of years wheir Pagan nomads being the first inhabitants of russia. Than many of hundreds of years later the czar family took over and was revolted by the citizens of russia. After the citizens revolted they created communism to help keep peace.
6 By the Numbers The population is 142,257,519 with the 9th highest population in the world. 74% of the Russian population live in urban areas, while the other 26% live in rural areas. The five most populated cities include of Moscow with 12 million people, Nizhny with 1.3 million, Rostov-on-Don with 1.1 million, Samara with 1.2 million, and lastly
7 A Typical Russian The median age for a typical russian is 39.6 years old, the total life expectancy of a male is 65.3 and the females 77.1 percent. The total fertility rate is 1.61 percent and the infant mortality rate is 6.8 out of a thousand.
8 Education in Russia The total literacy rate in russia is 99.7 for Males and 99.6 for females, almost 100 percent of all russians have equal access to education
9 Education in Russia Nine years of schooling is mandatory for Russians and most schools are public to the population. The government issues scholarships out to the people with the results.
10 General attitudes Typical russians are powerful, independent, wealthy, and they respect the authorities. They also rely on their friends to help them through difficult times and will repay with their own help whenever they get the chance.
11 Personal appearance Sign of status and culture, many men wear suits and ties and the women tend to wear dresses skirts and bandanas.
12 Greeting in Russia In Russia people greet each other by shaking hands, saying good day, hello and good morning. They believe it is impolite to meet someone and not greet them with a handshake or some type of friendly gesture.
13 Common Gestures When in Russia never use your index finger or shake handers while under a doorway these gestures are considered rude and impolite. A common polite gesture includes of sticking your thumb between your middle and index finger.
14 Visiting Etiquette While in russia the house owners offer many things to guests. They put more than enough food on the table than is needed. The guests are also provided with many more things than they would be in America.
15 Food and Drink A typical russian likes to provide their guests with whatever their request is. They will most likely make whatever food the guest request or likes from their prior knowledge.
16 Family Life While in russia family members are extremely loyal to each other and will do anything to help out the family. Most children are raised by their parents and have help with some of the grandparents, the children's role in the house is to do their chores and clean up messes.
17 Gender Roles The males act as the head of the household while most women take care of the chores around the house. Many of the women are involved in ministries, likely of the children's department.
18 Housing In typical russian urban areas their tend to be rich and live in more modern brick houses and apartments. In russia's rural areas they tend to be farmers that live in countryside cottages and that have electricity but a lack of running water.
19 Dating and Engagement The people of russia tend to start dating around ages of 15-18, engagement usually lasts around 6-8 months. They believe you should not date in your early teen years because it brings bad habits and temptations.
20 Marriage and Weddings In russia young people start dating around 16 or 18 and if they engage with each other the engagement last up to 6 months. The weddings in russia last at least two days and can last up to a whole week. They dance, sing, toast, and provide way more food than could ever be eaten.
21 Recreation Sports- The sports played the most is Russia are, Hockey, Rugby, Handball, and Biathlon. There are many other sports played and almost all of them show up somewhere in Russia. Leisure- The things Russians do to enjoy themselves include of fishing, camping, gardening, and drinking with friends. Vacation- They do not travel very far for vacations, however they take camping, rafting, and trips to the black sea as their vacations.
22 The Arts Russia is a very diverse country that has many different arts, some of these arts include realistic, romantic, political and physical. Some of these plays are events that happened and some that are different tales.

24 Healthcare The healthcare in our country is free to everyone, but is poor quality. Some of the major diseases in Russia are STDS, Anthrax, Brucellosis, Diphtheria, and many other infectious diseases such as the common cold.
25 Government In russia they have a semi-presidential federation and they gained their independence on August 24th. The voting age in Russia is 18 years old and the name given to the leader is Chief of state. There are 3 Branches in the government and the citizens have the same roles of U.S citizens.

29 Transportation There is a total of 1,218 airports in russia and they are ranked number 5 in the world, their is also 87,157 railroads in russia and they are ranked number 3 in the world. There is 1,283,387 miles of road in russia and they are ranked number 5 in the world, their is also 102,000 seaports in russia.
