3 Mission Statement We are already one, but we imagine that we are not. OneWorld exists to rediscover that, while we are many in our cultures, religions, and struggles, we are one in our common humanity. 8 Official Request for OneWorld Sponsorship Dear [TITLE AND NAME], Greetings from OneWorld! We hope that you are having an enjoyable summer. We wanted to contact you to inform you that OneWorld, a proud CSO at SLU, is seeking departmental sponsors and equity partners to support the mission, the voice and the production of OneWorld Magazine. OUR MISSION OneWorld Magazine is Saint Louis University s student-produced social justice magazine, created each semester to inform the campus of local and international humanitarian issues and to encourage students to take action. It is available online and in print and distributed free of charge to the SLU campus once a semester. OUR VOICE OneWorld Magazine is a community project with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds coming together to create a community resource. We are deeply committed to Jesuit values and, in particular, to developing men and women for others. We are a testimony to Saint Louis University s Jesuit mission. We build a community of students from all undergraduate majors and graduate programs and encourage students to become more engaged with SLU, St. Louis, and international volunteer outlets. We strive to remain autonomous from personal or departmental bias while adhering to the Jesuit ideals. OneWorld challenges volunteers and readers to think critically about social justice and inspires readers to action while providing students with leadership, journalism, and advocacy training. Not only does OneWorld promote internal student and departmental organizations but also brings Saint Louis University to national attention through organizations such as Campus Progress/Center for American Progress. OUR PRODUCTION
9 Student Government Association allots OneWorld a printing budget each year; yet forecasting our finances can be difficult. As the number of interested writers varies per semester, each year it is a challenge to determine the funds appropriate for production. As OneWorld continues to grow in scope, we find ourselves in need of further financial support from the SLU community. [If department has previously contributed: We greatly appreciate the significant financial contribution that the [ORGANIZATION NAME] has made in the past and hope that you will continue to support us in the future.] Below are the costs of production for OneWorld this upcoming semester. Fall 2015 Estimated Costs of Production: $1625 to print 500 copies of a single issue [ numbers] Contribution to OneWorld through Grant Funding: $250 Campus Progress - Center for American Progress [this funding does not exist any longer numbers] Gap in Financing: $1,375 [ numbers] YOUR CALL TO ACTION We are asking for sponsors to finance the production of OneWorld. Our Equity Partners make a twice-annual contribution of $500 allocated to the production of the OneWorld magazine. Benefits of contributing include acknowledgment in OneWorld Magazine and on our website. Each contributor will also receive a budget report from OneWorld at the end of each semester. Departmental Contributors make a twice-annual contribution of $1000. In addition to acknowledgement in OneWorld Magazine and the website, departmental contributors also have the opportunity to publish announcements and advertisements in our magazine. In order to offer special recognition, our departmental contributors will also receive a customized, framed front cover of OneWorld Magazine. We would like to thank you for all your support to the SLU community and for your consideration of this unique opportunity. Best, [YOUR NAMES] Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor
