Each person certified by the St. Bonaventure University Registrar as a fulltime student seeking an undergraduate degree from St. Bonaventure University is a member of the St. Bonaventure student body and shall elect representatives from the student body to the legislative and executive branches in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution. Section 1. Each person certified by the St. Bonaventure University Registrar as a student who pays a student activity fee is a member of the student body. These students shall elect representatives from the student body to the legislative and executive branches in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution. Rationale: With this change, any undergraduate or graduate student who is paying a student activity fee is eligible to be a member of the St. Bonaventure University Student Government Association. Article IV. Advisors Section 1. SGA Advisors Section 1.2. The SGA Executive Board within four (4) weeks of the annual SGA election shall present the Vice Provost for Student Life Vice President for Student Affairs with a list of five (5) candidates for the position of Budget Officer. From that list, the Vice Provost for Student Life Vice President for Student Affairs shall choose the individual whom he/she deems the most qualified to serve as the SGA Budget Officer. Rationale: From this point forward, any change regarding the title of Vice President for Student Affairs is to reflect Rick Trietley s position as the SGA Advisor. Section 1.3. The Vice Provost of Student Life The Vice President for Student Affairs, or his/her designated representative, shall be the SGA s Administrative Advisor. Section 1.5. The SGA Executive Board shall have the power to request the removal of the Budget Officer. A written request for removal must be presented to the SGA; and upon receiving a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Senate, a formal request for removal will be submitted to the University President s cabinet for approval. The request will clearly state the grounds for removal and the official Senate vote. Upon approval of the University President s cabinet, a new Budget Officer shall be nominated by the SGA

2 SGA 2 Executive Board within two (2) weeks and the nominee s name shall be presented to the University President s cabinet Vice President for Student Affairs for approval. Article V. Powers of Student Government Section 2. The SGA may require any officer or any senator to account to it SGA for his/her activities within the organization, whether through regular scheduled reports or special hearings. The SGA may, on the basis of such accounting or reports, give appropriate guidance or direction to said officer or senator in question. Rationale: Specificity Section 7. The SGA shall have the power to charter campus clubs and organizations upon Section 7.1. receipt of the club or organization s constitution by the SGA executive board and SGA advisor; and Section 7.4. recommendation by the President of the SGA; and Section 7.5. approval of the Vice Provost of Student Life Vice President for Student Affairs; and Section 7.6. approval by the University President. Rationale: We removed power from the SGA president and University President. If a club wants to charter they need only go though the membership committee and gain the approval of the VP for Student Affairs. Section 7.7. SGA shall have the power to request a proposed budget for the upcoming academic year from all clubs. ; the budget proposal cannot exceed the amount the club received in the previous academic year as of the second Friday in the month of April. Rationale: The second Friday in the month of April is too specific and should be discussed in the bylaws. Section 7.8. The last Friday of April, All clubs must submit the names of their executive board to SGA., for communication purposes. Rationale: The last Friday of April is too specific and should be discussed in the bylaws. Section 8.2. All SGA clubs must participate in 20 hours of community service. Clubs must fill out a form and have the advisor of the volunteer organization sign off on the form and submit it to SGA by the first Tuesday of May of that academic year. In the event that the club does not fulfill the 20 hours of community service, the club will not receive their funding for the next academic year.

3 SGA 3 Section 8.2. All SGA clubs must participate in community service as provided by the SGA Bylaws. Rationale: Requiring 20 hours of community service is too specific for the Constitution and is to be provided by the SGA Bylaws. Section 8.3. All SGA clubs must attend the policies and procedures meeting in addition to two SGA meetings each semester.at least one of the first two SGA meetings of each academic year for a review of policies and procedures. Each club must also fulfill all other requirements under Article XIX. In the event that a club cannot attend a meeting or fulfill all other requirements, SGA holds the right to freeze the club s budget. Rationale: The policies and procedures meetings are now conducted at a separate time than regularly scheduled SGA meetings. Clubs must attend at least two SGA meetings each semester in order to keep informed with what is happening in SGA and have the chance to announce their club events and voice their questions and concerns regarding their club and/or organization. Section 8.4. All SGA clubs must attend at least one of the first two SGA meetings of each semester to present their plans for the semester. In the event that a club cannot attend a meeting, SGA holds the right to freeze the club s budget. Section 8.4. The SGA membership committee will update SGA on each club s activities. Rationale: Rather than having clubs take SGA meeting time to present their plans for the semester, they will discuss all business with the Membership Committee who will report to the SGA on their behalf. Section 8.6. Upon receipt of the Membership Committee s recommendation, the legislative branch shall vote on the charter revocation. Upon a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote to revoke the club or organization s charter, the SGA President shall formally request such revocation from the Vice Provost of Student Life Vice President for Student Affairs and the University President. The formal request for revocation shall set forth the grounds for revocation, facts ascertained by the Membership Committee, the official vote of the legislative branch, and any other information deemed to be relevant. Article VI. Representation and Organization Section 3. The legislative branch shall consist of the following Senators: Section 3.2. four (4) senators from the on-campus residences (two representing the residences on the west side of campus and two representing the residences on the east side of campus),

4 SGA 4 Section 3.3. one (1) commuter student senator, Section 3.2. two (2) elected senators from each class, Rationale: These senators will function as representatives of their class and can work with their elected class officers. Section 3.7 one (1) Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) senator, Rationale: This additional senator is because of MERT s allocated budget. It reflects the large budget the Big 4 (the BV, Intramurals, WSBU and CAB) receives. With this change, MERT will now be considered a member of the Big 5 and have a position in the SGA Senate, as they have in the past. Section 3.8. five (5) six (6) club senators, and Rationale: Six club senators better represent more of our club and organization population. Section 3.9. five (5) four (4) at-large student representatives. Rationale: An odd number to limit the influence of the judicial board on legislative voting Article VII. Qualifications of Officers Section 1. Anyone seeking or holding office in the SGA must be a full-time undergraduate student at St. Bonaventure University who pays a student activity fee. Rationale: With this change, any undergraduate or graduate student who is paying a student activity fee is eligible to be a member of the St. Bonaventure University Student Government Association. Section 2. Anyone seeking office in the SGA must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. Failure to maintain a 2.0 GPA will result in removal from office. Section 2. Any student seeking office in the SGA must be in good academic standing. Failure to maintain good academic standing will result in removal from office. Rationale: SGA is an organization that anyone should be able to participate in regardless of his or her intellect. Our SGA Advisor, Rick Trietley, will check with the registrar to make sure that all of our members are in good academic standing. Section 3. Anyone seeking or holding an executive office (president, vice-president, secretary, or treasurer) must have served in an official SGA capacity (either elected or appointed) for at least two (2) one (1) semester and must have attended three-fourths (¾) of the SGA Senate meetings during their term in office. in the fall semester prior to the subsequent election. The Election Committee shall verify the qualifications of the officers.

5 SGA 5 Rationale: With this change to one semester, more members of the SGA have the opportunity to run and serve on the Executive Board. Article VIII. The Executive Branch Section 3. Powers and Duties of the President. The president shall: Section 3.4. present to the Student Senate student body each university term academic year a State of the Campus message; Rationale: The Student Senate is aware of the State of the Campus through SGA meetings. It is better to address the entire student body each year with a State of the Campus so the entire student body is on the same page. Section 3.5. represent the interest of the SGA as a voting member of the Faculty Senate. Rationale: This was proposed and approved by the SGA voting body in Section 4. Powers and Duties of the Vice President. The vice president shall: Section 4.3. nominate one senator as the President Pro Tempore of the senate and one qualified student as the Parliamentarian of the senate; Section 4.5. represent the interest of the SGA as a voting member of the Faculty Senate. Rationale: There is no mention of the Parliamentarian or President Pro Tempore and their duties in the Constitution. Section 6. Powers and Duties of the Treasurer. The treasurer shall: Section 6.7. provide monthly reports to the Senate as we;; well as provide monthly reports to the SGA Budget Officer, the SGA Administrative Advisor and the SGA Executive Board. Rationale: Correct spelling and grammar Article IX. The Executive Board Section 2. Function. The Executive Board shall be the administrative body of the SGA; and Section 2.5. The Executive Board shall create and appoint members to any Cabinet positions, Executive Committees, and Executive Offices;

The Executive Board shall appoint members to represent the SGA on Board of Trustees Committees, University Committees, Standing Committees, ad-hoc committees, which is subject to majority vote. Section 2.7. Sit on Board of Trustees committees as assigned. Rationale: This is how it has always been done. This addition is just making it a policy in the Constitution. The senate must confirm all appointments. Therefore, preserving a balance of power. Article X. Class Officer Responsibilities Section 1. Election of Class Officers. The President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of each class shall be chosen in the spring election by a majority vote of their respective class and shall serve for one year, beginning April 1 of the academic year and terminating March 31 of the following academic year. The officers shall be elected according to the procedures outlined in Article XVII. Rationale: Duties and responsibilities not previously outlined in the Constitution. Section 2. Powers and Duties of the Class President. The class president shall act as the chief executive officer of the class and take the lead in determining class meetings and objectives. The president works with all class officers to ensure that they collaborate effectively on behalf of their classmates and also maintain contact with the Executive Board and the entire Student Government Senate on behalf of the class. Rationale: Duties and responsibilities not previously outlined in the Constitution. Section 3. Powers and Duties of the Class Vice President. The class vice president shall work with the class president and other officers in planning, organizing, and implementing class programs, events, and fundraising. In the absence of the president, the vice president exercises the powers and duties of the president. Rationale: Duties and responsibilities not previously outlined in the Constitution. Section 4. Powers and Duties of the Class Secretary. The class secretary shall keep record of all class meetings, the whereabouts and activities of classmates, and actively solicit and communicate news about class members. The secretary shall assist their other class officers in their duties and help plan class events. Rationale: Duties and responsibilities not previously outlined in the Constitution. Section 5. Powers and Duties of the Class Treasurer. The class treasurer shall accurately maintain all financial records of the class. The treasurer shall work alongside the other class officers for planning and hosting class events and fundraisers. Rationale: Duties and responsibilities not previously outlined in the Constitution. Article XI. The Legislative Branch

7 SGA 7 Section 2. The SGA Senate shall be composed of twenty-seven (27) thirty-one (31) members. Rationale: Increase the number of the Senate to better represent the student population and club representation for a larger, diversified Senate. Section 2.2. Class Senators. Each class shall elect two (2) class senators. Each representative will serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate. Rationale: These senators will function as representatives of their class and can work with their elected class officers. Section 2.2. Housing Representatives. The student body shall vote each year for four (4) housing representatives to sit on the SGA Senate. Two (2) housing representatives will represent the west side campus housing and two (2) representatives will represent the east side campus housing. Each representative will serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate. Section 2.3. Commuter Representative. The student body will elect a commuter representative who shall be a student who lives off-campus. This representative shall serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate. Rationale: These representatives have not been in place. Therefore, the new Senate structure will replace these housing and commuter representatives. Section 2.3. The Big 4 Big 5 Representatives. The Buzz, The Bona Venture, Intramural Sports, MERT, and CAB will each appoint one representative. Each representative will serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate. Section 2.4. In the event that a Big 4 Big 5 senator does not attend all of the SGA meetings, their club will have their budget frozen and 5 percent of their budget will be deducted per meeting the senator misses, the senator can, however, send a proxy in their place in the event that they cannot attend the meeting. Rationale: Updating the language Section 2.6. Athletics Representative. The Athletic Director will appoint one (1) representative. The representative will serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate. Rationale: These representatives have not been in place. Therefore, the new Senate structure will replace the athletics representative. Section 2.5. Club and Organization Representatives. The student body will elect five (5) six (6) club and organization representatives. Each representative will serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate.

8 SGA 8 Rationale: Six club senators better represent more of our club and organization population. Section 2.6. At-Large Student Representatives. The student body will elect five (5) four (4) at-large representatives. Each representative will serve as a voting member of the SGA Senate. Rationale: An odd number to limit the influence of the judicial board on legislative voting Section 4. Responsibilities The senator shall send a representative carrying a signed, written vote from the elected senator in their place in the event that they cannot attend the meeting. Rationale: This solves the proxy problem that we have faced in the past. Section 5. Powers and Duties of the Senate. The duties and the powers of the Senate shall include but not be limited to: Section 5.6. the establishment of by-laws, which are necessary for the proper functioning of the SGA and the Senate with a majority vote of the membership; the power to create and enact By-Laws which are necessary for the proper functioning of the SGA and the Senate, with approval of two-thirds (2/3) of the Senate; Rationale: This gives the power to the senate to create and enact By-laws. Section 4.8. the power to enact by a two-thirds (2/3) vote, the By-Laws of the Constitution, hereinafter known as the By-Laws; Section the power to choose, by majority vote, a President Pro-Tempore at the second meeting of the fall semester; Section 7. Standing Committees. The Senate Standing Committees shall consist of: Section 7.1. Budget Committee Section Members. The Budget Committee shall be chaired by the SGA Treasurer. The Budget Committee shall consist of the SGA Treasurer SGA President, SGA Vice President, an independent auditor SGA Auditor, and three (3) senators nominated by the SGA President and confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination to fill the remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. The SGA Budget Officer, a non-voting member, shall attend every meeting of the Budget Committee. Rationale: We have updated this committee to help insure that our budget and all SGA expenditures are observed and discussed by a committee. Section 7.3. Student Life Committee.

9 SGA 9 Section Members. The Student Life Committee shall be chaired by the SGA President. The Student Life Committee shall consist of the SGA President, the Food Services Secretary, the Secretary of Safety, Security and Health Services, the Secretary of Technology Services, one (1) housing senator from the west side of campus class senator, one (1) housing senator from the east side of campus two (2) atlarge senators and one (1) senator nominated by the SGA president class officer from every class, all confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination to fill the remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. The Vice President of Student Affairs will attend every meeting of the committee. Section Function. The Student Life Committee shall consider non-academic items and issues relating to student life and make recommendations concerning existing policy. Rationale: The change in senators is regarding the earlier proposed SGA Senate model. Additionally, with the Committee considering items and issues relating to student life, they can make suggestions and recommendations to address the topics they discuss. This committee will now take on the role that the handbook committee had in the past. Section 7.4. External Affairs Committee. Section Members. The External Affairs Committee shall be chaired by the Secretary of the Executive Board. The External Affairs Committee shall consist of the Secretary of Community Relations, the commuter one (1) off-campus student resident representative, one (1) associate justice, two (2) elected senators nominated by the SGA President and confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination to fill the remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. Rationale: The change in Senator positions now reflect the new SGA senate model. We added an associate justice as well. Section 7.5. Diversity Awareness The Equity and Inclusion Committee Section Members. The Diversity Awareness Equity and Inclusion Committee shall be chaired by the Secretary of Diversity Awareness President of the Executive Board. The Equity and Inclusion Diversity Awareness Committee shall consist of the Secretary of Diversity Awareness, Equity and Inclusion, four (4) senators two (2) senators nominated by the SGA President and two (2) members of the St. Bonaventure University student body nominated by the Damietta Center for Multicultural Student Affairs Coordinator and confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination to fill the

10 SGA 10 remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a two thirds (⅔) majority vote of the SGA Senate. Section Function. The Diversity Awareness Equity and Inclusion Committee shall consider issues of diversity and those issues affecting students with disabilities. confer on topics relating to engendering equality in education and student life. Rationale: The change of the committee name reflects Higher Ed language and better represents the purpose of the committee. The committee members now resemble the new SGA senate model. Section 7.7. Membership Committee. Section Members. The Membership Committee shall be chaired by the Executive Board Treasurer Management Secretary. The Membership Committee shall consist of the Executive Board Treasurer, the Management Secretary and four (4) senators not representing a club who are nominated by the SGA President and confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination to fill the remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. Rationale: Change chair to Executive Board Treasurer. By having four senators not representing a club, they will be able to make un biased decisions regarding membership. Section 7.8. SGA Handbook Committee. Section Members. The SGA Handbook Committee shall be chaired by the Management Secretary. The SGA Handbook Committee shall consist of the Management Secretary and four (4) senators nominated by the SGA President and confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination to fill the remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. Section Function. The SGA Handbook Committee shall review all student life policy changes and make recommendations concerning existing policy. Rationale: Remove this committee because we do not have an SGA Handbook Section 7.9. Auditing Committee Section Members. The Auditing Committee shall be chaired by an independent auditor. The Auditing Committee shall consist of independent auditors. the Senate President Pro Tempore and one (1) senator nominated by the SGA President and confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. The independent auditors shall be nominated by the chair of the St. Bonaventure accounting department. In order to maintain auditor independence, confirmation by the SGA Senate shall not be required. When the SGA determines that a vacancy exists, the president shall make a nomination

11 SGA 11 to fill the remainder of the term. Such nomination must be confirmed by a majority vote of the SGA Senate. Rationale: The auditing committee is a completely independent committee that will review SGA s expenditures and club allocations to make sure that we are doing everything correctly. This avoids bias. Article XII. The Judicial Branch Section 3. Powers and Duties of the Judicial Branch. The duties and powers of the Judicial Court shall include: Section 3.7. the resolution of any constitutional conflicts that arise within the SGA; Section 5. Term of Office. The term of office for members of the Judicial Branch shall be for one April 1st of one academic year. March 31st of the following academic year. Section 5. Term of Office. The term of office for members of the Judicial Branch shall be for a maximum of four years. The term of office shall begin at the final SGA meeting of the fall semester in which the Judicial Branch member is nominated and confirmed and continue through the final SGA meeting of the fall semester of the justice's graduating year, or four years, whichever occurs first. Rationale: With these term limits justices are allowed to make tough decisions without facing political pressure that could influence their decision. This does not mean that the current judicial branch will serve under these new terms as their term of office ends April 1 st, Section 6. Qualifications. In order to serve as a member of the Judicial Branch, a nominee must: Section 6.1. be a full-time student student who pays a student activity fee Section 6.2. maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 be in good academic standing. Rationale: Rationale: SGA is an organization that anyone should be able to participate in regardless of his or her intellect. Our SGA Advisor, Rick Trietley, will check with the registrar to make sure that all of our members are in good academic standing. Article XIII. Impeachment Section 2. Grounds for impeachment shall be: Section 2.4. found responsible by the University Judicial Board of a for a dismissible policy Level One (1) violation as outlined in the St. Bonaventure University Student Handbook Code of Conduct. Rationale: A Level One violation is no longer in line with the updated student Code of Conduct.

12 SGA 12 Section 6. The accused shall be entitled to representation by a member of the staff, faculty, or administration. advocacy officer. Rationale: There is no mention of an advocacy officer in the Constitution. Therefore, we leave this duty to a member of the staff, faculty, or administration to fill the void of this unknown officer. Article XIV. Vacancies Section 1. The SGA shall declare an elective office vacant when: Section 1.3. An incumbent fails to maintain good academic standing cumulative grade point average falls below the G.P.A. requirement set by the university for participation in extra-curricular activities; Rationale: The change in wording is because we cannot ask members to provide their GPA. Section 1.5. An Officer or Senator is studying abroad. Section A vacancy will not be recognized if a judicial board member is studying abroad. Rationale: The Constitution did not acknowledge what is to happen when an officer or Senator is studying abroad. With their position sitting empty, there needs to clarification on this issue. Section 4. If a vacancy occurs in a class officer position such vacancy shall be filled in accordance with the class guidelines. Section 4. If a vacancy occurs in the office of a class president then the class vice president shall discharge the powers and duties of the office of the class president. The new president of the class would nominate a new vice president who would be confirmed by a majority of the votes cast by the class in a special election. Section 4.1. If a vacancy occurs in the office of a class vice president then the class president shall nominate a new class vice president that shall be confirmed by a majority of the votes cast by the class in a special election. Section 4.2. If a vacancy occurs in the office of a class secretary then the runner up in the previous election shall discharge the powers and duties of the office. Section 4.3. If a vacancy occurs in the office of a class treasurer then the runner up in the previous election shall discharge the powers and duties of the office. Rationale: To clarify succession in the case of a vacancy within the class officer positions.

13 SGA 13 Article XV. Amendments Section 6. Administrative Approval. Following ratification by the student body, the proposed amendment will must be approved by the Vice Provost for Student Life Vice President for Student Affairs, and the Provost or the President of the university. Article XVII. Elections and Qualifications for Office Section 2. Nominations. Students wishing to have their names placed on the ballot must Section 2.3. submit a petition with signatures if running for an elected senate position Rationale: Senators have been getting 50 signatures for elected positions. This is not a new practice. Section 5. General Election. Section 5.2. The March election will be held for SGA elected positions and sophomore, junior and senior class officers, class senators, and senators at large. Rationale: Class senators and senators at large in their sophomore, junior or senior year will run for election at the same time as class officers and other SGA elected positions. We have always had elections for these positions at this time. Section 11. Posting of Results. The Elections Committee will post the results promptly after the counting of the ballots. The list is to be posted online SGA bulletin board in the Reilly Center and in the next edition of the Bona Venture. Rationale: There is no longer a bulletin board in the Reilly Center for SGA information. All information will be posted online for easier access for all SGA inquiries. Article XVIII. Ratification and Review Section 2. Review Section 2.1. During January of 2010, the Fall semester of 2018 and each third year thereafter, there shall be established a Constitutional Revision Commission that is composed of the following: Rationale: By changing to the Fall semester, this will allow the CRC more time to revise the Constitution and not have an extremely tight time frame.

14 SGA 14 Section 2.3. Each constitution revision commission shall convene at the call of its chair, adopt its own rules of procedure, and hold public hearings regarding the constitution. The commission shall submit its proposed amendments to the SGA Senate no later than sixty (60) days before the spring semester elections of the same academic year. Amendments may be to the whole document, or any of its articles, sections, or provisions. Rationale: Specificity Section 2.4. Following a two-thirds (⅔) vote by the SGA Senate, amendments will be placed on the spring ballot for vote by the student body. Rationale: Specificity Section 2.5. Following ratification by the student body, the amendments will be approved by the Vice Provost for Student Life and the Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs, with final approval by the President of the University as the agent for the Board of Trustees. Article XIX. Appropriations and Disbursement of Funds Section 1. Funding for the SGA. The dollar amount of fees allocated to SGA shall be determined by the St. Bonaventure University administration. Section 1.1 Student Activities Fee. The expenses of the Student Senate shall be covered by the Student Activities Fee and/or by fundraising activities. Rationale: This is where the money comes from. Section 3. Grants Section 3.1. All grants must be submitted by the second Friday in October of that academic year in order to receive grant funding for that academic year. Section 3.1. All grants must be submitted by the fifth Friday of the fall or spring semester in order to receive grant funding for that academic year. Rationale: This amendment would allow a club to be able to receive grant funding in the Spring which previously was not allowed. Section 3.2. No grant shall be given for travel expenses, thus all grant money must be used for an event on campus. Section 3.2. Grants shall be used only for on-campus events. In the event that the club does not recharter, the club will no longer be considered to be an SGA club and will lose their budget and office space. Rationale: In order for SGA to keep updated with clubs and allocate budgets correctly. Every club will have to re-charter including the Big 5 and Little 6. Section 4.2. To re-charter a club, one must do the following: -Submit an SGA charter form by the second SGA meeting in October -Submit a constitution by the second SGA meeting in October -Have an advisor -Attend one SGA meeting per semester to present what the club is doing -Attend two SGA meetings per semester -Have at least two activities open to the entire campus -Hold at least four formal meetings with the club members and submit their minutes to the SGA account -Participate in 20 hours of community service -After one year of probation, the club will then present at the final SGA meeting of the year and the SGA executive board will determine the status of the club along with their budget allocation of the following year Rationale: Every club should be attending two semesters and we will need to specify in the bylaws how many hours they should be bound by. Section 5.3. Academic and the Big 4 are to re-charter their clubs every three (3) years, in the event that the club does not re-charter, the club with no longer be considered to be an SGA club and will lose their budget and office space. Section 5.4. Social and culture clubs are to re-charter their clubs every two (2) years, in. In the event that the club does not re-charter, the club with no longer be considered to be an SGA club and will lose their budget and office space. Rationale: As stated in 4.1 under chartering, all clubs must re-charter. There are no exceptions for any club. Section 4.4 New Club Chartering: After one year of probation, the club will then present at the final SGA meeting of the year and the SGA executive board will determine the status of the club along with their budget allocation of the following year. -All clubs in their initial year will be considered under probationary status -Under probation: no guaranteed funding, and must meet the requirements listed above. Rationale: In the past this was amended. We would like to continue it as it has worked in the past. Section 5. Budget Allocations

16 SGA 16 Section 5.1. Academic clubs can receive up to $1,000 per academic year. Section 5.11 An academic club is a club that is affiliated with an academic program, major or minor. The department chair, program director, or club advisor must approve an organization s designation as an academic club. Section 5.2. Multicultural clubs can receive up to $500 per academic year. Section 5.21 A multicultural club is an organization that aims to promote appreciation of a specific culture. The coordinator for the Damietta Center for Multicultural Student Affairs must approve an organization s designation as a multicultural club. Section 5.3. Social clubs can receive up to $250 per academic year. Section 5.31 A social club is an organization comprised of people with similar interests promoting community and interaction on-campus. The club advisor must approve the club s designation as a social club. Section 5.4 Budget is based on past expenditures, number of students associated with your club, funding requests, and quality of events. Rationale: This section was added because there was no criteria for how much clubs could be allocated. Section 5.5 Budget is tied to the number of meetings a chartered club attends. If the club s designated representative does not make the two required SGA meetings a semester, then their budget will be frozen for the next academic semester. Section 5.6 Clubs may petition the Judicial Branch for their entire budget. Rationale: The Constitution does not outline what the standard is for each club. With these we would be able to hold all clubs accountable to making their two required SGA meetings.
