CALL TO ORDER MINUTES OF THE STUDENT SENATE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY EDWARDSVILLE Morris University Center- Goshen Lounge Monday, 6 p.m. The Student Senate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville convened Monday,, in the Goshen Lounge of the Morris University Center. Vice President Megan Gooch called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. II. OPEN FORUM: Kiara Coker of Black Student Union addressed the senate. XII. ANNOUNCEMENTS Senators are required to attend three events. One event that could be attended is Africa Night on January 22, which was funded by SG. It will

5 5 Page take place in the Meridian and tickets are $ There will be food, music, and fun. The Biweekly Dialogues will take place from 12-1:30 in Peck Hall in room The next is Friday, February 2 nd and will continue on alternate Fridays. World Hijab Day will be February 1 st, from 11-2 PM in the Conference Room upstairs. Tunnel of Oppression will be outside on the quad on either March 19 th or 20 th depending on the weather and will go from 12-5 PM. The Activities Fair will be this Thursday, January 25 in the Goshen Lounge from 10-2 PM. SG will have a table and make sure that those who attend wear their name badges. The Women s Leadership Institute will be February 20 th. Several SG members were nominated to participate and the application is online. The event is open to all students. The Dear World Lecture series sponsored by CAB will be on January 30 th. Students will have the opportunity to have a professional photograph taken where they write a story/message on their body. This will take place during the day and at 7 PM the lecture will commence. Several of the photos taken will be featured in the lecture. They will also be sent to the participants to be shared on social media. Cougar Fest will be on January 24 th 10-2 PM in the Goshen Lounge. 60 students will have the opportunity to participate in Leadershape this May by applying online. There will also be information nights on January 22 and February 6 at 5 PM in SSC Applications are due March 2 nd. You must be a current student with plans to return in the fall. International Night will be February 3 in the Meridian at 5 PM and tickets are $ XIII. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned by general consent at 6:48 PM.
