LaCombe, President, Presiding The School Board of the Parish of Lafayette, State of Louisiana, met in regular session at its meeting place, the Lafayette Parish School Board Administrative Building, Board Room, Lafayette, Louisiana, on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 5:30 P.M. pursuant to notice given in writing to every member. MEMBERS PRESENT: Carl J. LaCombe, President; Mark Cockerham, Vice President; Gregory Awbrey, Mark Babineaux, Hunter Beasley, Shelton J. Cobb, Michael Hefner, Edward J. Sam, and Rae Trahan, Board Members; Burnell Lemoine, Secretary- Treasurer/Superintendent MEMBERS ABSENT: None I. MEETING OPENINGS The meeting was called to order by LaCombe and opened with a prayer by Hefner. Awbrey led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA None APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion (Awbrey, Sam) that the Board approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried. II. RECOGNITIONS/PRESENTATIONS The Board congratulated the Broussard Middle School Concert Choir and Girls Choir for winning gold awards at the Heritage Festival in New York. Under the direction of Mrs. Matilda Martin, the group performed several musical selections for the Board and provided them with a copy of a CD recording of the full choir. III. CORRECTIONS AND/OR APPROVAL OF BOARD/COMMITTEE MINUTES A. CORRECTIONS ON THE MINUTES OF: 1. Regular Board Meeting of 6/3/09 Motion (Awbrey, Cockerham) that the Board approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of June 3, 2009 as presented. Motion carried. 2. Special Board Meeting of 6/17/09 Motion (Hefner, Trahan) that the Board approve the minutes of the Special Board Meeting of June 17, 2009 as presented. Motion carried. B. Due to technical difficulties the Chair called for a voice vote. Motion carried. 6. SUPERINTENDENT'S EVALUATION (POTENTIAL EXECUTIVE SESSION) Motion (Hefner/Beasley) that the Board accept the report of the Superintendent Evaluation committee. The Chair called for a voice vote. Motion carried. VII. REPORTS A. Public Comments Comments were made by the public. No action was taken. B. Board President/Members Comments were made by Board President and Members. No action was taken. C. Superintendent The Superintendent congratulated the Broussard Middle School Choirs and Director for their accomplishments. He thanked Angie Simoneaux, Director of Marketing, for the hard work she has done in marketing Lafayette Parish School System and getting the digital billboards 5

6 displayed in the community. He also thanked the Board for his evaluation and their comments; and said just as last year, that he is looking forward to an even better year. The Superintendent also commended Board President, Carl LaCombe, for being extremely helpful, especially in the last two years, working with agendas and everything that needed to be done. VIII. EXECUTIVE SESSION Motion (Awbrey, Hefner) that the Board go into executive session regarding the N. P. Moss Middle school litigation. Motion carried. Motion (Hefner, Beasley) that the Board go back into regular session. Motion carried. The Board received from Paul McMahon, Attorney, updated litigation information on N. P. Moss Middle School - 15th Judicial District Court, Case# LPSB vs. Ratcliff Construction Company, Inc. and Corne-Lemaire Group an Architectural Corporation. IX.
