1 The Henderson Hornets/Ambitious Andies 4-H Club held an informal meeting on Wednesday, August 14, 7:00 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building. This meeting was to review the past 4-H year and make plans for the upcoming 4-H year. Those in attendance were: Current Members Megan Hossle, Jaylee Meyer, Molly Bolton, Ashley Moorman, Brianna Weak and Prospective Members Lilly Proctor, December McGrew, and DayAnn McGrew. Also two leaders and two guests. A gift was given to our club s graduating seniors Molly Bolton, Ashley Moorman and Brianna Weak. The rest of the evening included discussion of what the members would like to do for the next 4-H year as far as projects, tours, and activities. It was also the consensus of the Club to establish a Clover Kids Club for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd graders. Snacks were served by Megan Hossle. Our next meeting will Wednesday, September 10, 7:00 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building. Henderson Hornets/Ambitious Andies 4-H Club met on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building. Roll Call was What is your favorite day of the week. Pledge to American flag was led by Lilly Proctor. Club members Molly Bolton and Brianna Weak had projects be exhibited at State Fair and each received a blue ribbon. Megan Hossle reported that she received 2 nd place in Chef s Choice and Molly Bolton received Reserve Champion in the county beef carcass results. A thank you was read from Kassidy Monday for the fair trophy our club sponsored. Plans for the organizing of a Clover Kids Club were discussed and it was decided that the Clover Kids would meet at 6:30 with regular club meeting to follow and Clover Kids would have a registration fee of $ The community service project of stove replacement in the Emerson Community Building was discussed and will research will begin. Items from the county newsletter were shared. National 4-H Week is October 5 11 and our club will wear t-shirts to school one day, make posters to hang at school or in area businesses and write an article for the newspaper. Club t-shirts are going to be ordered.
2 Future fundraising ideas were discussed. Enrollments will need to be done soon so we will be setting a date to meet at the library and do enrollments together. Pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Megan Hossle. Our next regular meeting will be held on October 8 at Emerson Community Building. Pledge to the American flag was led by Reegan Moorman. The Secretary Report was read by Jaylee Meyer and the Treasurer balance was given. A thank you from Molly Bolton was read for her graduation gift. Lilly Proctor explained the poster she made and hung up at school for National 4-H Week. An article was also read that our club printed in the area newspapers promoting 4-H. Plans for the organization of our Clover Kids club was discussed. Information from county newsletter was shared of upcoming activities. Fundraising ideas were discussed and planned. We will begin personalized pan sales and hold a soup luncheon will be held on November 9. Election of officers was held: President Megan Hossle, Vice President Lilly Proctor, Secretary Jaylee Meyer, Treasurer Davis McGrew, and Historians December McGrew and Dayann McGrew. Meeting was adjourned and pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Jaylee Meyer. Leader Mary Bolton gave a talk I Have To Do What, about how to give a presentation and also served as hostess. Our next regular meeting will be held on November 12, 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Community Building with Megan Hossle as hostess. 3 7 members, 4 leaders, and 13 guests present. Roll call was Introduce your family and guests. Pledge to the American flag was led by December McGrew. A family potluck was held and then everyone made flavored pumpkin seeds as a group activity. Installation of officers took place with the following members installed into office: President Megan Hossle, Vice President Lilly Proctor, Secretary Jaylee Meyer, Treasurer Davis McGrew, Reegan Moorman and Historians December McGrew and Dayann McGrew. The Secretary Report was read by Jaylee Meyer and the Treasurer balance was given by Davis McGrew. Lilly Proctor gave a report on the New Member/Jr Halloween Party she attended. Jaylee Meyer,, and Megan Hossle reported on the County Awards Program. Davis McGrew, Dayann McGrew, and December McGrew reported on the Freedom Rock Soup Fundraiser they helped serve at as a community service project. That s My Pan (Personalized Pans) was selected as a fundraiser and began today. On December 6 our Club will ring bells for Salvation Army in Red Oak, hold a bake sale, and go ice skating in Omaha. January 2 was set as a can collection day. Clover Beez was selected as our Clover Kids club name. As a service project everyone worked on a craft of building a snowman and these snowmen will be delivered to Children s Hospital. Meeting was adjourned and pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Dayann McGrew. Our next regular meeting will be held on November 12, 7:15 p.m. at Emerson Community Building with Megan Hossle as hostess, following our Clover Beez meeting at 6:30 p.m. The Henderson Hornets/Ambitious Andies 4-H Club met on Wednesday, November 12, 7:15 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building with 7 members, 3 Clover Beez, 2 leaders, and 4 guests present. Meeting was called to order after Clover Beez was held, at which we worked with Hand Washing and Germs, and made Turkey Cups. Roll call was What is your favorite food at Thanksgiving Dinner. Pledge to the American flag was led by Davis McGrew. Treasurer Report was given by Davis McGrew. Jaylee Meyer gave a report on our club s Family Fun Day and Installation of Officers.
4 Final details were made on our club s fundraising, ringing bells for Salvation Army, Bake Sale on Hy-Vee, and can collection. Plans were made for our ice skating to follow the bell ringing on December 6. Our club will participate in the Love Tree Gift Giving. Meeting was adjourned and pledge to the 4-H flag was led by. Our next club activity will be December 6 with bake sale to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Hy-Vee in Red Oak, followed by bell ringing and ice skating. Meeting was called to order after Clover Beez was held, at which time we discussed the color wheel and made colorful tile coasters. Roll call was How do you celebrate the new year. Pledge to the American flag was led by Jaylee Meyer. Secretary Report was read by Secretary Jaylee Meyer and Treasurer Report was given by Davis McGrew. Lilly Proctor and Davis McGrew reported on the club s bake sale fundraiser. Davis McGrew also reported on Salvation Army Bell Ringing. Lilly Proctor reported on the can collection. Possible future activities, fundraisers, and community service projects of the club were discussed. Meeting was adjourned and pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Davis McGrew. Our next club activity will be a gathering on February 1 to make Valentine s for residents of Acorn Acres and our next regular meeting will be held on February 11. Secretary Report was read by Secretary Jaylee Meyer and Treasurer Report was given by Davis McGrew. Davis McGrew reported on the making and delivery of Valentine Water Bottles to the tenants of Acorn Acres in Red Oak. A thank you was read from the Manager of Acorn Acres for the water bottles and expressing the appreciation by the tenants. Share the Fun participation and the planning of our club s fair booth at the fair was discussed. Items from the county newsletter were shared. Each club member is to color any farm animal picture for a club contest next month. Meeting was adjourned. The pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Reegan Moorman. Davis, Dayann, and December McGrew served as hosts. Our next club meeting will be held on March 11, 2015 at Emerson Community Building. The Henderson Hornets / Ambitious Andies / Clover Beez 4-H Club met on Wednesday, March 11, 6:30 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building with 7 members, 3 Clover Beez, 2 leaders, 3 potential members, and 8 guests present. Our evening began with Beth Olsen, Hy-Vee Dietician, holding a Kids Cooking Class. We made Green Pinwheels and Lucky Clover Snack in observance of St. Patrick s Day. The meeting was called to order by President Megan Hossle. Roll call was Do you always wear green on St. Patrick s Day? Pledge to the American flag was led by Dayann McGrew. Secretary Report was read by Secretary Jaylee Meyer. We welcome our newest member Alysia Montgomery. A report was given by Alysia Montgomery on the Poultry, Rabbit, Goat county workshop she attended.
6 Plans were made for a club skating party on May 1 and everyone was reminded to come up with ideas for Share the Fun. Information from the county newsletter was shared. Plans were finalized for the Emerson Easter Egg Hunt to be held on April 4. Levi McDonald will get the spray paint, Dayann McGrew will get the quarters from the bank, and the Leaders will pick up the candy to stuff the eggs. We will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 to stuff the eggs. The club held two contests since our last meeting. The member to bring back the biggest ball of cut and tied grocery sacks was Cemi McGrew. Members were to bring a colored farm animal picture and the two winners were Alysia Montgomery and Lilly Proctor. Meeting was adjourned. The pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Lilly Proctor. Lilly and Fletcher Proctor served as hosts. Our next regular club meeting will be held on April 8, 2015 at Emerson Community Building. The Henderson Hornets / Ambitious Andies / Clover Beez 4-H Club met on Wednesday, April 22, 6:30 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building with 6 members, 2 Clover Beez, 2 leaders, and 3 guests present. Dessa Montgomery with Mills County Conservation brought some wildlife animals to share and talked about the lives of these animals. She also gave the members ideas of things they could do as a project in this area. The meeting was called to order by Acting President/Secretary Jaylee Meyer. Roll call was What is your favorite color? Pledge to the American flag was led by Jaylee McGrew. Secretary Report was read by Secretary Jaylee Meyer and Treasurer s Report was given by Davis McGrew. Alysia Montgomery gave a report on Junior Overnight she attended. Jaylee Meyer, Levi McDonald, and Rileigh Campbell reported on the Emerson Easter Egg Hunt. Plans were finalized for the club skating party on May 1. Plans for Share the Fun were discussed. Our club will participate in the Barn Quilt Contest and our club will be donating to the 4-H ers for 4-H Campaign. The April newsletter was discussed.
7 After adjournment of the meeting, the pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Jaylee Meyer. Alysia Montgomery and Jaylee Meyer served as hosts. Presentations were given by Jaylee Meyer on making Photo Album Vases as a centerpiece, Dayann McGrew on Hair Braiding, and Davis McGrew on Basketball Handling. Our next regular club meeting will be held on May 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building. The Henderson Hornets / Ambitious Andies / Clover Beez 4-H Club met on Wednesday, May 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building with 7 members, 3 Clover Beez, 1 leader, and 8 guests present. An informal meeting was held with lots of discussion held among all present as the fair book was reviewed. Nancy McGrew was present to help us plan for the Barn Quilt our club will be making. Secretary Report was read and Treasurer s Report was given by Davis McGrew. Levi McDonald and DayAnn McGrew reported on the club s skating party that was held. Plans were made for the club s Share the Fun skit. The pledge to the 4-H flag was led by DayAnn McGrew. Rileigh Campbell and Levi McDonald served as hosts. Our next regular club meeting will be held on June 10, 6:30 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building as a family potluck. At this meeting we will hold an Achievement Show in which each member is to bring at least one completed fair project for practice judging. Jaylee Meyer Acting The Henderson Hornets / Ambitious Andies / Clover Beez 4-H Club met on Wednesday, June 10, 6:30 p.m. at the Emerson Community Building with 8 members, 3 Clover Beez, 2 leaders, and 8 guests present. Our evening began with a club potluck. The pledge to the 4-H flag was recited after meeting was called to order by President Megan Hossle. Alysia Montgomery reported on the county horse practices. Jackson Poorker reported on the Shredding Day event at Malvern Trust & Savings Bank. Plans were finalized for our club s Share the Fun event and Barn Quilt.
8 Information from the county s newsletter was read. The fair schedule was reviewed and explained. Plans were discussed for our Club Booth, Kids Day Activities at the Fair, Building Duty, and other fair events. Alysia Montgomery volunteered to bake our club s pie. An example of what it s like to get judged at the fair was presented. There will be no July meeting but our club will be notified of dates to work on Barn Quilt and practice our Share the Fun.
