Governor s Message Howdy Herd, A big thank you to everyone that came out for LCC s Drag races, while a huge learning curve, it was a grand time! We had a short meeting to discuss how the event went and I m looking forward to putting on a great event next fall. LCC did very well at the Drags bringing home two of the six overall best finishes. Sandi Murray in ladies matching times, winning both her group and overall with a delta of That is one consistent driver. Kelley Heins was a close second with a split. Toni Hartley won Ladies overall in the bracket drags, beating both Kelley and Sandi on the way there. A big congrats to the Ladies of LCC, showing the LCC men how to get it done! These are some other notable performances from our drags: Fred Garvin (COAST) - Lowest ET not bad for a 2A car Doug McMahan (Cowtown) - Fastest Trap Speed James Garvin (COAST) - Best Reaction Time (he had 2 other RT in the 0.03 range) To all the competitors, workers and spectators that came to our event, a big, warm, heart felt thank-you! Being the first drag race I have ever chaired and LCC not having run a drag in a long time, there were a lots of learning. A special thank you to Ron Ruston (OCCC) and Doug McMahan (CTV, RCD) on all the behind the screens help they gave me in preparation for the event.

Governor s Message (cont.) Please take a minute to say thank you to all the workers that helped pull this off, Lynn Bailey, William Nolan (CTV), Kelley Heins, Joyce Stark, Jerry Stark, and Matt Stark. Little River Dragway and Mike Garvin (COAST) made this event fun. Mike stepped in several times and helped get us back on track during the event. His staff at the track was great and there were a ton of compliments on the burgers. I dare say one of the best burgers in central Texas. Activities Hi, I promise no pumpkin spice events will happen this month unless you get pie somewhere along the Dam Cruise. There is lots of fun to be had between racing, the LCC Fast and Classic, the Dam Cruise and our social. I'm also quickly updating the events for the rest of 2017 and making place holders for events in If you have an idea for an event, cruise or a favorite car show that you'd think we'd like, shoot me an so I can put it on the calendar. Please visit our website or our public Facebook page, ref=page_internal, for a list of events.

Activities (cont.) We are less than a week from our charity car show on Oct. 1. Our charity, the Pets for Patriots program at Texas Humane Heroes, probably isn't jiving with your desire to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. However, the four-legged victims of Harvey need homes too and Texas Humane Heroes no-kill animal shelter has taken in animals displaced by Hurricane Harvey. Also, veterans may be forced to give up their pets because the apartments that serve as temporary housing may have huge pet deposits. The Pets for Patriots program can help veterans with those expenses, veterinary expenses and adoption fees. We need volunteers for the show as well. Please visit for more information. There are tons of categories so if your Vette isn't running there is probably another category that you can enter. Discount codes are: SW for members to get $5 off DD for Veterans to get $10 off Please share the codes with your friends too. ~~ Kelley Knight Heins ~~ Activities Director

From the Editor Unlike the poor souls in the north who are getting their cars ready to store for the winter, the weather is just getting nice for us and just in time for our big charity Car Show at Tech Ridge. Proceeds go to the Pets for Patriots Program at Texas Humane Heros which is a great charity that helps both veterans and pets. Their no-kill shelter has also taken in animals that were displaced by Harvey. LCC Fast & Classic is coming up soon so there is no time to waste. Get your car down to the Austin DIY Garage and get it into top shape and ready to show! We have more events coming up yet this year including our annual Christmas Party so watch upcoming BULLetins plus our web site and Facebook groups! As always I need to thank my better half Kelley Knight Heins for many of the photos used in each month s issue, proofreading help and in general putting up with me being grumpy during the crunch time of assembling everything. Without her help and patience this would be a much greater challenge. Leeland Heins ~ Editor I NEED YOUR HELP!!! If you take any pictures or videos at one of our events I would greatly appreciate if you would send them to me for possible inclusion in the BULLetin! If you use Twitter for posting pics of our events or just tweeting about club functions or Corvettes in general, please use the hash tag #longhorncorvetteclub. Have something you want to add? Please contact or mailto:editor@longhorncorvette.com

Tech Corner (member articles) This section is for content provided by LCC Members. Anyone is welcome to submit articles which would be of interest to Corvette owners. In particular it would be great if someone would write some articles about the early Corvettes (C1 & C2) or later Corvettes (C5-C7). This month s submission is more about racing than technical, but please enjoy Kelley s writeup of how LCC fits in the 2017 NCCC points standings so far.
