1 ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE SECOND SESSION Juneau, Alaska Thursday April 7, 2016 Eightieth Day Pursuant to adjournment the House was called to order by Speaker Chenault at 11:09 a.m. Roll call showed 39 members present. Representative Hawker had been excused from a call of the House today. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Representative Claman. Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. With respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer that was one of my mother's favorites. We are thankful for our many blessings, for our families and friends, and for the opportunity of public service. As we move forward this day, I ask that we remember the lesson of the Good Samaritan who stopped to help an injured man by the road who others had walked past: Ask not what will happen to me if I help this man; ask what will happen to this man if I do not help him. I ask that we remember the common mission of different religious groups and organizations around the world: to feed the hungry, find homes for the homeless, heal the sick, fix the broken, help everyone find a place for love in their heart and peace in their lives. 2097
2 2098 April 7, 2016 I ask that we remember the message from the angels when they appear in scripture: Have no fear. Have no fear. And I ask these things in the name of all those, remembered and forgotten, who were helpers of mankind. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Wilson.
