1 ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE TWENTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE SECOND SESSION Juneau, Alaska Thursday April 3, 2008 Eightieth Day Pursuant to adjournment the House was called to order by Speaker Harris at 10:30 a.m. Roll call showed 37 members present. Representatives Chenault, Holmes, and Meyer were absent and their presence was noted later. Representative Samuels moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Foster be excused from a call of the House each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., for the remainder of the legislative session and special sessions. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Mandy Schramm of Congregation Sukkat Shalom. Representative LeDoux moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. MESSAGES FROM THE SENATE HB 351 A message dated April 2, 2008, was read stating the Senate passed: CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 351(JUD) "An Act relating to submission of fingerprints by applicants for a concealed handgun permit; and providing for an effective date." HB 338 A message dated April 2, 2008, was read stating the Senate passed CSHB 338(FIN) with the following amendment and it is transmitted for consideration: SENATE CS FOR CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 338(FIN) "An Act relating to the bulk fuel bridge loan fund and program, power project fund, and the bulk fuel revolving loan fund; authorizing the Alaska Energy Authority to borrow money from the power project fund for the bulk fuel revolving loan fund and to repay money borrowed; and providing for an effective date." CSHB 338(FIN) is under Unfinished Business.

Because of the significant contributions to the construction of the 1,522 mile long Alaska Highway during World War II by these soldiers, it is our intent that the Black Veterans Recognition Bridge be recognized as a significant point on the Purple Heart Trail on the Alaska Highway."
