Countdown: 13 days to the 2 nd November 22, 2012 PHILIPPINE MANUFACTURERS & PRODUCERS SUMMIT- The 2 nd PHILIPPINE MANUFACTURERS & PRODUCERS SUMMIT will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at InterContinental Hotel, Makati City. The objective of this year s summit is to discuss the Country s progress in industrial planning, emerging opportunities and binding constraints, sectoral roadmapping experience, and the critical horizontal and vertical policies for industry to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the Philippines. An assessment of the Resolution passed by the General Assembly during the st National Anti-Smuggling Summit will likewise be made. Hundreds of delegates led by key Government and Industry leaders, leading manufacturers and producers nationwide, economists, bankers, investors, academe, labour representatives will be joining us on the largest annual event focused solely on the manufacturing and producing sector. Reservations will be on a first-come, first-served basis. 2 2 SENATE DIRECTED NBI TO INVESTIGATE TRADERS/COOPERATIVES The Senate directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the traders and cooperatives after only one of the 26 that were subpoenaed to testify and give light on rice smuggling in Subic and Legaspi City failed to appear. It was also announced during the Senate Hearing that after rice, investigation on smuggled vegetable oil, onions, and other agricultural products will immediately follow. Just like in the rice investigation, importers and traders of these agricultural products will likewise be subpoenaed by the Senate. 11 th FPI Golf Classic, March 08, 2013 The 11 th Annual FPI Golf Tournament will be held on March 08, 2013 at the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Course, Tagaytay City. Over 150 senior executives from the country s Top 1,000 Corporations are again expected to play in this tournament and get the chance to compete with their fellow industrialists on the golf course. Extended operation at Port of Manila The Port of Manila (POM) will render extended working hours from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, for processing of Import/Export shipments in anticipation of the huge volume of shipments for the holiday season which may cause port congestion. A POM skeletal workforce will be available to conduct regular Customs business from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the following Saturdays: November 10, 17 & 24, 2012; and December 1, 8, 22 & 29, th Meeting of the IAC-ENRS The Inter-Agency Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Statistics (IAC-ENRS) will hold its 11 th meeting on Thursday, 15 November 2012, 9:30 A.M. at the Tamaraw Hall, Bulwagang Ninoy, PAWB, North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
