2 2015 FPI Bayabay Awardees What is FPI Bayabay Award Long before the advent of the newspapers, radio, television and other modern technology to disseminate news, a town crier in Sorsogon called BAYABAY would go to the town plaza and beat his drum in order to alert the town folks who would then earnestly gather to listen to the major news, important announcement of achievements of government officials and private individuals, typhoon warnings that he will make known. The Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI) has chosen BAYABAY to depict its award not only to pay tribute to our history and the countless unsung heroes, but, also to bestow this award to outstanding and deserving individuals. For the last two (2) years the Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI) conferred the novel FPI Bayabay Award to honor outstanding and deserving media practitioners who have raised important and sensitive issues that have serious impact on our country, - by consistently and conscientiously educating the masses in a clear, equitable, and balanced manner. The field includes good government, environment, labor and productivity, international trade, academe, anti-smuggling, and other major issues of national scope. Starting this year, to implement the next phase thereof, the Federation will bestow the FPI Bayabay Award to similarly situated outstanding businessmen, private individuals, and government officials who have showed exemplary character in performing their functions without being swayed by outside influence nor pressure from powerful blocks. The 2015 FPI Bayabay Awardees are: Government Sector: 1. Hon. Maria Lourdes P.A. Sereno Chief Justice, Supreme Court 2. Hon. Conchita Carpio-Morales - Ombudsman 3. Hon. Leila M.
