14 ITEM # 3-A (page 2 of 5) Review Draft Resolution & Mission Statement for Citizens Advisory Council Mike Hairston, Spokesperson for CAC RESOLUTION RE-ESTABLISHING THE WARREN COUNTY CITIZENS ADVISORY COUNCIL WHEREAS, by virtue of GS 153A-76, board authority is granted to a board of commissioners in organizing county government in order to promote orderly and efficient administration of county affairs and WHEREAS, in its considered judgement, the Warren County Board of Commissioners believe that citizen involvement and participation is tantamount in determining and/or planning the county s future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Warren County Board of Commissioners: Section 1. That there is hereby re-established a council known as the Warren County Citizens Advisory Council (CAC). Section 2. The Warren County Citizens Advisory Council shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners and shall consist of 10 members, two (2) each representing board of commissioner districts. Each member shall serve at the pleasure of its appointing Commissioner, with terms expiring at end of commissioner s term. Vacancies on the council shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment of the Board of Commissioners. The members shall serve without compensation. Section 3. The Warren County Citizens Advisory Council may appoint from its membership a facilitator and/or deputy facilitator to report to the Board of Commissioners any information deemed necessary. Section 4. Duties & Responsibilities "Serve as a fact-gathering body to collect and review citizens comments and suggestions as requested by the Board of Commissioners. Council serves in an advisory capacity only; recommendations and/or actions are not binding."

The Warren County Citizens Advisory Council shall make full and complete reports to the Board of Commissioners at such times as may be requested and at such other times deemed appropriate. Section 6. This resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately after its passage. 16 ITEM # 3-B (page 4 of 5 ) Resolution Supporting May 5-11 Tourism Week RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF NATIONAL TOURISM WEEK MAY 5-11, 2019 TRAVEL MATTERS TO WARREN COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA WHEREAS travel and tourism is one of America s largest industries with $1,036 billion in direct travel expenditures by domestic and international travelers, and employing 8.8 million in direct travel-related jobs according to 2017 data, and WHEREAS travel and tourism continue to be major drivers of economic development across North Carolina, the sixth most-visited state in the country, generating a record-breaking $23.99 billion total spending in 2017, and employing 225,000 North Carolinians, and WHEREAS Warren County s history and the beauty of our small towns, farms, Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake, coupled with the warm welcome extended by our citizens and businesses, attract more visitors to the county each year, and WHEREAS travelers to Warren County spent a record-breaking $25.75 million in 2017, and since 2013 more than $128 million at our local businesses generating state and local sales tax receipts that supported essential services thereby saving each Warren County resident over $780, and WHEREAS the value travel holds for our economy, businesses and personal well-being is celebrated in the U.S. and the State of North Carolina during National Travel and Tourism Week, May 5 11, 2019, and WHEREAS the official North Carolina I-85 North Welcome Center, in Wise, invites Warren County businesses that cater to visitors to participate in their annual Tourism Day Event on Friday, May 10, 2019; Be It Therefore RESOLVED that Warren County, North Carolina celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week, May 5 11, 2019 and declares Friday, May 10 th as Tourism Day throughout the County. RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION North Warren High School - 50 th Class Reunion Whereas, the North Warren High School Class of 1969 celebrates a milestone of 50 years; and Whereas, lifelong friends and life changing experiences are made during the high school years; and Whereas, class reunions are for remembering old times, catching up on years gone by, and enjoying special times together; and Whereas the North Warren High School Class of 1969 Planning Committee s efforts encourage continued fellowship during Reunion Weekend (May 24-25, 2019) in honor of their beloved high school; and Whereas Reunion Weekend brings classmates together from near and far to participate in activities that highlight accomplishments, recognize those who have passed, and promote future unity; BE IT THEREFORE PROCLAMED that the Warren County Board of Commissioners recognizes the 1969 Class of North Warren High School and encourages festivities during Reunion Weekend that bring classmates back home for a time of reflecting on years past, re-energizing the love for home, and looking forward to the greater things to come.
