1 June 10, Osceola Trail - Naples, FL STATEMENT OF MEETING GUIDELINES: All electronic devices, such as pagers, cell phones, and any other wireless communication device, must be turned off while in the Board Room, as they may interfere with the television broadcast. Members of the public wishing to speak on any agenda item must complete a Speaker Registration Card for the Board Secretary. No speaker shall indulge in personal attacks while speaking. All comments and questions are to be addressed directly to the District School Board. Members of the public who wish to address the Board regarding items not on the agenda may do so during Public Comments. Speakers will be limited to three minutes unless granted additional time by the Chair. A yellow caution light will appear on the timer when one minute remains, and a red light will appear when the time expires. The Chair, with the consent of the Board, shall have the right to limit public debate on any agenda item. The Board Parliamentarian shall enforce the Meeting Guidelines. Call to Order 1. All members were in attendance with Mr. Roy Terry joining by telephone. Statement of Meeting Guidelines 3. 2 Pledge to the Flag/Moment of Silence 4. Pledge to the Flag/Moment of Silence Minutes: Superintendent Dr. Kamela Patton shared some opening remarks which were followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. After a brief moment of silence, members of Palmetto Ridge High School's Choir Quartet performed. The winning film from Lely High School's 2nd Annual Marine Science Film Premiere, Marco Island Dredge and Fill, was displayed. An Academic Highlight featuring the district's inaugural Business Plan Entrepreneurship Competition concluded the presentation. Changes to the Agenda 5. A1 FHSAA Academic Team Champions Minutes: The board recognized Naples High School's baseball team for their Page 2 of 14

3 achievements in the classroom. With a combined GPA of 3.364, the team was recently listed as the Spring Academic Team Champions in Class 6A by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). 7. A2 Commissioner's Business Recognition Awards Minutes: The board recognized two of its outstanding community business partners, Arthrex and Florida Power and Light (FPL), presenting each of them with a Commissioner's Business Recognition Award. 8. A3 FDACS Summer BreakSpot Challenge Award Minutes: The board welcomed Erica Field, Bureau Chief of Implementation and Accountability with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, who presented the district's Department of Nutrition Services with a Summer BreakSpot Challenge Award for Innovation in the Operation of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). 9. A4 Retiree Recognition Consent Minutes: The board recognized the district's most recent group of retirees and thanked them for their service. Secondary Programs 10. Approval of the Consent Agenda Minutes: Mrs. Pat Carroll noted that there would be two separate votes to approve the Consent Agenda. Due to a conflict of interest by Mrs. Carroll, the first vote did not include item C233. The second vote was for the approval of Item C233 in which Mrs. Carroll excluded herself from voting. Revision to the Academic School Calendar Attachment: Revised Draft 10JN2014.pdf Attachment: Statewide Assessment Schedule.pdf Minutes: Dr. Patton introduced Mrs. Debbie Terry, Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources. Mrs. Terry presented the suggested revisions to the district's Academic School Calendar based upon the recent release of the State's Assessment Calendar. The two revisions were as follows: Originally slated to be a day off, April 6, 2015, would now be a school day as it falls within the testing window. The last day of school for the school year would now be June 3, Page 9 of 14

B1 Summer Learning Opportunities Resources (Information Only) Attachment: B1_Summer_Learning.pdf Minutes: Dr. Patton thanked the Curriculum & Instruction department for putting together a complete and thorough package of summer learning opportunities for students. She then welcomed Mrs. Jennifer Kincaid, Executive Director, Elementary Programs, and Ms. Maribel De Armas, Manager, Communications & Design Services, to present information regarding summer learning and the opportunities that are available through the district's website and the "Keep Learning Alive" resource guide. It was noted that the Keep Learning Alive resource guide would be shared with the district's community partners. Board members shared comments and commended staff for their efforts. Continuous Improvement Initiatives 76. B16 Board Self-Evaluation Report Attachment: B16_BoardSelfEvaluation.pdf Minutes: Dr. Patton introduced Mr. David Stump, Deputy Superintendent, who shared the background and results of the annual board self-evaluation. The presentation compared results from the last five years. Board members Page 10 of 14

11 shared comments. Mrs. Curatolo agreed to prepare a summary for new board member orientation. S1 Superintendent's Evaluation Attachment: Goals.pdf Attachment: S1_SuperintendentEvaluation.pdf Minutes: Mr. David Stump shared scoring criteria and results of the Superintendent's evaluation, which included two sections: Performance Outcome and Professional Standards. (The evaluation is attached to this board item for reference.) Mrs. Carroll shared her comments related to the evaluation, while others waited to hear the Superintendent's goals for After Dr. Patton shared her goals for the upcoming year, board comments and discussion ensued. Public comments were shared by Kelly Lichter, Dr. J.B. Holmes, and Michele Caswell. Motions: A motion was made to accept the Superintendent's evaluation and goals as presented. - PASS Page 11 of 14

E Legislative Session Summary (Information Only) Attachment: 2014LegislativeSummary.pdf Minutes: Dr. Patton introduced Mr. Ian Dean, Executive Director, Human Resources, to present the Legislative Session Summary, which included a review of the School Board Legislative Priorities. Mr. Dean noted bills that did not pass in legislation as well as those that did. The district's legislative liaison from Schoolhouse Consulting Group, Inc., Vernon A. Pickup- Crawford, joined the conversation by telephone to share his comments regarding the legislative session. Board questions were addressed by Mr. Pickup-Crawford. Page 12 of 14

School Board Comments Minutes: Mr. Terry congratulated this year's graduates, while Ms. Sprague congratulated the district's retirees. Report of the School Board Attorney 81. Report of the School Board Attorney Minutes: There was no report of the School Board Attorney. Superintendent Comments 82. Superintendent Comments Adjournment Minutes: Dr. Patton noted that the Marine Science film shared at the beginning of the board meeting was a result of a partnership with Discovery Education and shared a bit more information about the program. She congratulated this year's graduates and thanked all those involved in Project Graduation. Comments were shared related to the many competitions going on throughout the district. Lastly, Dr. Patton congratulated the district's teachers on the improved test scores recently released and wished everyone a wonderful summer. 83.
