1 Global Concepts Charter School Monthly Board of Trustees Meeting September 23, :00 P.M. Minutes The monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Global Concepts Charter School was held at the Global Concepts Charter School, 1001 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, New York, and called to order by Dawan Jones at 7:07 p.m. A quorum was established by roll call: Present: Excused: Dawan Jones, Antonio Estrada, William Kruger Suzie Mazella, Anthony DeMarco Absent: Other Attendees: David Ehrle, Elementary Principal Lynda Spahr, Board Clerk Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: New Business Item #1 Principals Reports Dave Ehrle, K-8 Principal, stated that K-8 is on track ahead or ahead in some areas. The first big event will be the Open House and Food Truck Night on Wednesday, September 30 th. Food Truck time is 4:00-8:00. We have contracted with the (716) Food Truck and R&B BBQ for our staff and families. The cafeteria will be open for our families to use. At 5:00-5:30 is a Title 1 Parent Meeting for parents to learn how Title 1 State Funding works. 5:30-6:00 is the NetSmartz Parents Assembly to educate our families about what their children are doing online. This will cover dangers of Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. subculture and how to navigate and keep their children safe with technology. 6:00-6:30 and 6:45-7:15 are our Open House sessions for parents to visit their child s teachers. Parents will learn about curriculum, rules, procedures, etc. See the rooms, see the school. We have a modified coed soccer team here for 7 th and 8 th grade that has begun. It was nice to see kids in their soccer uniforms for their game tonight

2 We have had a strong start for the beginning of the school year. We have tightened things, including dismissal. We will continue to make improvements. That concludes my report. Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve the K-8 Principal s Report as presented. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Dawan Jones made a motion to receive and file the High School Principal s report that all Board members received in their monthly Board packet for review. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Item #2 Secretary s Report William Kruger presented the Secretary s report referring to various correspondence that all Board members received in their monthly packets for review. Antonio Estrada made a motion to accept the Secretary s report as presented. Motion seconded by Dawan Jones. Motion roll call as follows: Item #3 Treasurer s Report Dawan Jones made a motion to receive and file the Treasurer s report that all members received in the Monthly Board packet. 3 Item #4 Monthly Meeting Minutes for August 26, 2015 Antonio Estrada made a motion to accept the Board minutes as presented for the regular monthly meeting dated August 26, Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Item #5 Operations/Personnel Issues/Vendors Personnel William Kruger made a motion to approve the following resignations, as recommended by the Principals and CEO: Carriann Baker, Grade 7 ELA Teacher - effective August 28, 2015 Molly Brewer, High School PE Teacher effective August 25, 2015 William Kruger made a motion to appoint the following pending satisfactory background, drug test and fingerprint clearance, as recommended by CEO and Chairman: Daniel Galus K-8.5FTE Art Teacher M2 effective September 1, 2015 Sarah Malczewski HS 1.0 FTE Math Teacher effective August 17, 2015 Paul Numeracki K-8 PT Maintenance, not to exceed 27.5 hours/week effective September 24, 2015 Motion passed William Kruger made a motion to approve pay to Mary Schroeder for summer work completed at the High School in the amount not to exceed $1, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman

4 William Kruger made a motion to approve High School Substitute list #1, pending satisfactory background, drug test and fingerprint clearance, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve the Global Concepts Charter School Military Leave Policy as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve a resolution accepting the donation of a cooler from Depew Dairy to replace the one burned in the kitchen fire of August 28, 2015, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Antonio Estrada made a motion to accept the GCCS 403(b) Plan audit for the period ending December 31, 2014, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Vendors William Kruger made a motion to approve the following new vendors as recommended by the CEO and Chairman: Constructive Playthings Emma Schimminger - 4 -

5 Gorilla Glides Score Sports Nova Tours Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve Lexis Nexis updated version of New York State School Law, Education Law, and Special Education in the amount not to exceed $1,011.56, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Motion passed Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve Wenger Corporation for storage of K-8 cellos and basses in the amount not to exceed $4,330.00, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve Heinemann for Units of Study in the amount not to exceed $2,415.52, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman. Motion seconded by William Kruger. Motion roll call as follows: Antonio Estrada made a motion to approve Kirisits and Associates in the amount not to exceed $5, for three months billing, as recommended by the CEO and Chairman.
