1 The National Agriculture Honor Society of Delta Tau Alpha 57 th National Convention Fort Hays State University March 31-April 2, 2016 First General Session: Thursday March 31, 2016 CALL TO ORDER The first general session was called to order at 9:06 am by National President Billy Cameron at Fort Hays State University. National Council Present: National President: Billy Cameron (EKU) Eastern Region Vice President: Mary Collier (TTU) Midwestern Region Vice President: Josh Harlan (SEMS) Southern Region Vice President: Reagan Cooper (SHSU) National Secretary: Amanda McCormick (ACU) National Parliamentarian: Deanna Martin (TTU) National Advisor: Dr. Beth Walker (MSU) National Executive Treasurer: Dr. Jim Baier (TTU) Garrett Balsick, FHSU DTA President, welcomed DTA members to campus and introduced Dr. Mirta Martin. Dr. Mirta Martin, FHSU President, welcomed DTA members to campus. National President Billy Cameron called the session to order at 9:06 am and introduced the National Council President Billy Cameron invited the chapter delegates to be seated. The introduction of the delegates and members was conducted. Delegates and Chapters are present as follows: Abilene Christian University (ACU): Kimery Hankins Arkansas State University (ASU): Rachel Bridgman Eastern Kentucky University (EKU): Bethany McKinney Fort Hays State University (FHSU): Garrett Balsick Missouri State University (MSU): Nicole Hafkemeyer North Carolina State University (NCSU): Cole Dail Southeast Missouri State University (SEMS): Alexander Loux Sam Houston State University (SHSU): Kai Anderson Tennessee Tech University (TTU): Cody Morris University of Central Missouri (UCM): Stephanie Deeken National Advisor Dr. Beth Walker gave the charge to the delegates. 1
2 Parliamentarian Deanna Martin reviewed Parliamentary Procedure with the delegates. Handouts were available at the tables for the delegates. National Secretary Amanda McCormick read the minutes from the 2015 National Convention. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to accept the 2015 Convention minutes as read. Bethany McKinney (EKU) moved to accept the 2015 Convention minutes as read. Kori Anderson (SHSU) seconded to the motion. The motion passed. National President Billy Cameron gave committee assignments for the voting delegates. Audit and Budget: ACU, EKU, MSU, UCM Nominating: ASU, NCSU, TTU Resolutions: FHSU, SEMS, SHSU Dr. Kyle Lovercamp (UCM) reviewed the rules and regulations for the Agricultural Quiz Bowl. President Billy Cameron gave information to non-delegate members about activities during the committee meetings. Southern Region VP Reagan gave information about the National DTA Facebook page. Garrett Balsick (FHSU) gave announcements and drew for a gift card. President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to adjourn the session. Bethany McKinney (EKU) moved to adjourn the first general session. Kori Anderson (SHSU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Session adjourned at 9:28 am. Second General Session: Thursday March 31, 2016 The second general session was called to order at 1:40 pm by National President Billy Cameron at Fort Hays Kansas University. FHSU DTA President Garrett Balsick introduced the speaker, Dr. Greg Farley. Dr. Greg Farley, Interim Dean of the College of Science, Technology and Mathematics Interim, welcomed the convention attendees to the Second General Session The session was called to order at 1:40 pm by National President Billy Cameron. President Billy Cameron invited the delegates to be seated. National Secretary Amanda McCormick performed roll call and noted 10 chapters and their delegates were present. Delegates and chapters present are as follows: Abilene Christian University (ACU): Kimery Hankins Arkansas State University (ASU): Rachel Bridgman Eastern Kentucky University (EKU): Bethany McKinney Fort Hays State University (FHSU): Garrett Balsick Missouri State University (MSU): Nicole Hafkemeyer 2

UNFINISHED BUSINESS The National Council members gave their end of year reports in the following order: National President Billy Cameron (EKU), Eastern Region Vice President Mary Collier (TTU), Midwestern Region Vice President Josh Harlan (SEMS), Southern Region Vice President Reagan Cooper (SHSU), National Secretary Amanda McCormick (ACU), National Parliamentarian Deanna Martin (TTU), and National Advisor Dr. Beth Walker (MSU). National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to accept the reports as read. Cody Morris (TTU) moved to accept the National Council reports as read. Kori Anderson (SHSU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. NEW BUSINESS Dr. Beth Walker relayed greetings from NACTA. Committee reports were given. The Advisors report was giving by Dr. Foy Mills (SHSU). Cody Morris (TTU) moved to accept the report as read. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. The Audit Committee report was given by Nicole Hafkemeyer (MSU). Stephanie Deeken (UCM) moved to accept the report as read. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. The Nominating Committee report was given by Rachel Bridgman (ASU) and the following candidates were slated for the following offices: National President: Brackston McKnight National Eastern VP: Sydney Kleinert National Midwest VP: Stacy Pachta National Southern VP: none slated National Secretary: Kara Campbell National Parliamentarian: Kimery Hankins President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to accept the Nominating Committee report as read, Nicole Hafkemeyer (MSU) moved to accept the report as read. Cody Morris (TTU) seconded the motion. The motion passed National President Billy Cameron entertained motion to recess. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to recess for 10 minutes, Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. 3
4 Nominations for National Council were opened. No new nominations were made for National President, Midwestern VP, or Eastern VP. For the position of Southern Region VP, Kori Anderson (SHSU) nominated Reagan Cooper (SHSU) for National Southern Region VP. For the position of Secretary, Stephanie Deeken (UCM) nominated Bethany McKinney (EKU) for National Secretary. For the position of Parliamentarian, Bethany McKinney (EKU) nominated Brian Hasty (EKU) for National Parliamentarian. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to suspend nominations. Cody Morris (TTU) motioned to suspend nominations. Kori Anderson (SHSU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. National President Billy Cameron dismissed the National Council for each candidate to give their three minute speeches. After three minute speeches Garrett Balsick (FHSU) drew names for a gift card giveaway. Dr. Kyle Lovercamp (UCM) gave announcements and room assignments for the Ag Quiz Bowl. Dr. Jean Gleischner (FHSU) gave further information about the Friday tours. Garret Balsick (FHSU) provided information about the Barbecue on Thursday evening. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to adjourn, Cody Morris (TTU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 2:43 pm. Third General Session: Saturday April 2, 2014 National President Billy Cameron called the meeting to order at 8:12 am at Fort Hays State University. He then invited the delegates to be seated. National Secretary Amanda McCormick performed roll call and noted that nine chapters and their delegates were present. 5 National President Billy Cameron entertained a bid for the 58 th National Convention to take place at Arkansas State University. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. A representative from Arkansas State University extended an invitation for everyone to attend the 58 th annual National DTA Convention in Jonesboro, Arkansas in National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion for the delegate from Southeast Missouri State to come forth to the delegate table. Cody Morris (TTU) moved to allow the delegate from Southeast Missouri State University to take his place at the delegate table. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. National President Billy Cameron entertained bids for the 2018 National Convention. No bids were made. The Treasurer s report was given by Mary Collier, National Eastern Region Vice President (TTU). National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to accept the Treasurer s report as read. Nicole Hafkemeyer (MSU) moved to accept the report as read. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) seconded the motion. The motion passed. The Budget Report was given by Stephanie Deeken (UCM). National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to accept and implement the budget as read. Nicole Hafkemeyer (MSU) moved to accept and implement the budget as read. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Dr. Beth Walker gave additional information regarding the nomination and slating process regarding the changes made to the slated officers. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion for a five minute recess for the delegates to discuss the slate changes with their chapters. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to have a five minute recess. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) seconded the motion. Motion passed. When the session reconvened National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to reconsider the slated officers. Bethany McKinney (EKU) moved to reconsider the original slated officers. Nicole Hafkemeyer (MSU) seconded the motion. Motion passed by majority vote of delegates. National Parliamentarian Deanna Martin reviewed parliamentary procedure with the delegates regarding nominations. National President Billy Cameron read the new slate of officers proposed by the nominating committee: National President: Sydney Kleinert Eastern Region VP: Kara Campbell Midwest Region VP: Stacy Pachta Southern Region VP: Brackston McKnight Secretary: none slated Parliamentarian: Kimery Hankins 5

Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion for a recess for the delegates to discuss the new officer slate with their delegates. Cody Morris (TTU) moved for five minute recess. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. When the session reconvened Billy Cameron read the new slated officers and previous nominations from the Second General Session. National President: Sydney Kleinert Eastern Region VP: Kara Campbell Midwest Region VP: Stacy Pachta Southern Region VP: Brackston McKnight, Regan Cooper Secretary: Bethany McKinney Parliamentarian: Kimery Hankins, Brian Hasty Additional nominations for National Council were opened. There were no new nominations for President, Eastern Region VP, Midwest Region VP, Southern Region VP, Secretary, or Parliamentarian. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to close nominations. Bethany McKinney (EKU) moved to close nominations. Cody Morris (TTU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. One-minute speeches were given by all candidates for all positions. Reagan Cooper withdrew her nomination for Southern Region Vice President. National Parliamentarian Deanna Martin reviewed parliamentary procedure with the delegates regarding voting. Voting began by ballot for National President. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to accept Sydney Kleinert as National President by process of acclamation. Nicole Hafkemeyer (MSU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Sydney Kleinert will be the National President. Voting began by ballot for National Eastern Region Vice President. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to accept Kara Campbell as National Eastern Region Vice President by process of acclamation. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Kara Campbell will be the National Eastern Region Vice President. Voting began by ballot for National Midwest Region Vice President. Nichole Hafkemeyer (MSU) moved to accept Stacy Pachta as National Midwest Region Vice President by process of acclamation. Kori Anderson (SHSU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Stacy Pachta will be the National Midwest Region Vice President. Voting began by ballot for National Southern Region Vice President. Cody Morris (TTU) moved to accept Brackston McKnight as National Southern Region Vice President by process of acclamation. Kori Anderson (SHSU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Brackston McKnight will be the National Southern Region Vice President. 6
7 Voting began by ballot for National Secretary. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to accept Bethany McKinney as National Secretary by process of acclamation. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Bethany McKinney will be the National Secretary. Voting began by ballot for National Parliamentarian. Kimery Hankins was accepted as National Parliamentarian by majority vote, secret ballot. Kimery Hankins will be the National Parliamentarian. NEW BUSINESS Dr. Beth Walker presented the Founders Plaque and Banner to Fort Hays State University for hosting the 2016 DTA National Convention. The National DTA Banner will be taken by Arkansas State University so that it is there to welcome chapters for the 2017 National Convention. Kori Anderson (SHSU) gave the Resolutions Committee report. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to accept the Resolutions report as read. Cody Morris (TTU) moved to accept the report as read. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) seconded the motion. The motion passed. National President Billy Cameron entertained a motion to recess. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) moved to recess for five minutes. Bethany McKinney (EKU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. When the session reconvened at 9:08 am, the new officers for were installed and each new officer presented the retiring officers with a plaque and gave them recognition. The newly elected officers preceded with the rest of the session with Sydney Kleinert presiding as chairman. Dr. Walker (MSU) gave closing remarks and final words about the retiring officer team. Garret Balsick (FHSU) came forward for final door prize drawings and final announcements. National President Sydney Kleinert entertained a motion to nominate Jim Baier as the National Executive Treasurer. Cody Morris (TTU) moved to accept Jim Baier as the National Executive Treasurer. Stephanie Deeken (UCM) seconded the motion. The motion passed. Jim Baier (TTU) is the National Executive Treasurer. National President Sydney Kleinert entertained a motion to adjourn. Kori Anderson (SHSU) moved to adjourn. Cody Morris (TTU) seconded the motion. The motion passed. The 2016 Delta Tau Alpha National Convention adjourned 9:25 am. 7
