1 Reading of the SGA Mission Statement West Virginia University SGA Meeting- 9/14/ Administration Call to Order- at 7:30pm Hatfields B, Mountainlair Student Union Morgantown, WV We, The students of West Virginia University, desiring to preserve within our university an atmosphere of open exchange of ideas with discussion, inquiry and self-expression to insure the person freedoms and general welfare of the student within our University, to promote principles of diversity and to continue in our tradition of responsible self-governance, do hereby establish this Constitution of the West Virginia University Student Government Association. Here to talk about Good Neighbor Day that is Sept 28, Wed. We have been working with some of your members to get this day going but Core Arboretum is one of the events going on and I want to challenge you all with having 25 of your members present at that event doing some great team building and showing a different sector of the neighbor what great students and

2 neighbors you are. This will be all posted in iserve with all of the other events. We are also trying to promote Walk in hours with a lot of our community partners and we are going to pilot that with a lot of our partners on that day. Andrew is helping us a lot with this event but he will not be able to physically be there so we would love to have other volunteers from your organization. It is 4-7pm. MAD day is Oct 22 nd, it is a home game but we have been working with the Maniacs on creating something throughout the weekend. Thank you so much Sen. Dixon- Who knows what happens tomorrow?? The Woodburn Circle Town Hall! Please help me get the word out; I have it on my twitter so please share. It is a really great program set up. Dir. Wilcher- Dem Headquarters in Westover have been set up. PPT Heeter- Peer advocates program showing the Hunting Ground at gold ballrooms tomorrow at 7, there will be pizza. Also please complete the Kognito training! Sen. McGuire- The applications for Global Medical Brigades are due this Friday Sen. Brewster- if you have your certificates printed out you can bring them to me, or wait to next week, Prof Brewster extended the deadline to next meeting since he couldn t make it tonight. Dir. Campbell- GOP headquarters have been open with pizza! President s Weekly Address President Jules- I had my first Institutional BOG meeting. The WVU foundations scholarship campaign is at 990 million dollars and we are trying to reach a billion dollars by the end of the semester, we will be one of the only institutions to do so for scholarships. We are also going to start presenting a topic for each OPF1, as suggested by Prof. Klandorf. This Friday we will be having our first college reps meetings if you have any campaign advice let us know so we can let them know. Also, on a fun note this weekend is a wine and jazz festival and there will be busses running from the lair. We have been working with City council to place an ex officio member on their board. Their attorney has been in contact with Iowa State, who has a representative. Senator s Reports Ernest- First, congratulate the woman s soccer team for being rank number one, first time in program history. Intermural flag football and softball are underway at the rec and dodge ball and soccer apps are due Oct. 14 th. Sign ups for Bob Hug s 3-3 is Oct 17 th during mountaineer week. Oct 15 th is touchdown for tucker and the time of

3 the event will be announced closer to event. Intermural sports league for students with disabilities has been pushed back to a later date. Sen. Hunt- A project I have been working on has been an event after football games called the fifth quarter. We are piloting this at the homecoming game and are trusting that we will get a lot of SGA help. Doddle polls have been posted for volunteering so please sign up! Sen. King- Today was the first day of voter registration in the residents halls, we have 7 locations left over the next 2 weeks. Tomorrow is from It is going really well. Executive Reports COS Kiess- You have a Grant Rationale sheet in front of you that we created at the BoF meeting on Monday, so look at it and see if there is anything you would want to see on it or take off of it EC Fathallah- College Reps-You will be getting an from me tonight or tomorrow morning. Meeting this Friday at 5pm in the Mon Room on tips and the process Dir. Wilcher- 2 nd SALA meeting will be on Monday in the SGA office at 7:30 Dir. Daw- Grant App is now live on the website, so let orgs know that it is there Dir. Helmick- You can finally log your hours on iserve for the retreat! Prof. Brewster said 24 hours is what will qualify for your time. Dir. Roberts- Hi I am President of Gold n Blue Crew, if you want to start your networking now sooner than later it is a great opportunity. 6-8pm next Wednesday is Beers and Bingo. Our first Got 30 is for Industrial Engineering Majors and he will be in Sept 30 th and able to talk to students, at least 4 spots, members have first priority. Watch party for Oklahoma St in the Alumni Ballrooms. In November we are having a philanthropy week of tagging everything that has been donated on campus and then writing thank yous to them Dir. Minihan- Making you aware that intern apps close this Friday, it is easy to apply since Ankur digitized the app for me, on the website Dir. Quigley- Question on Sec. 7 subsection B, should that be a no funding may be awarded after the changing of the student senate PPT Heeter- 4 spots where committee and chair need to be capitalize, motion to change by unanimous consent Sen. Brewster- second Prof. Klandorf- I think that they should be here present for the presentation of their grant. VP McIntyre- If no further discussion is seen, do I have a motion Sen. Waris- Move to vote on amended bylaws by unanimous consent Sen. Waters- Motion to table to next week Treasurer Daniel- I agree 100% but if we have grants that are time sensitive again, but the changes have been made in real time. Sen. Waris- POD- I think it would be wrong for us to penalize orgs this week because of a few capitalization errors, etc. Sen. Waters- I think if you are going to pass this and make this the new and go into affect for the BoF I think that it deserves more time to it especially with Transparency. Sen. Burgess- Understand where you are coming from, but with the price difference with the grants; the bulk of the changes is here I feel like we need to not discredit them PPT Heeter- A lot of times orgs do not have a member able to come to the meetings that are educated on the event so that is why we ask them to come to the BoF meetings to discuss their grant Sen. Waris- Clearly it would be great but I think we would be deny a lot of student orgs the right to their money Treasurer Daniels- We want a good relationship between us and student orgs. They come on Monday and if they cant come on Monday they cant get money but I am all for money Sen. Waris- I motion to close discussion unanimous consent Sen. Heeter- second Sen. Kumar- meeting tomorrow at 9pm for any comments regarding this, we discussed this at the retreat and since then I have spent the past 4 weeks fine tuning this system to what we want it to look like. There will be trainings for this system and you will have to attend one to have an account to track. Bluestone room 9pm tomorrow night for questions and comments. Pantry Plus More Sponsorship Dir. Thompson- So last year as a governor I started this program with Josh called Pantry Plus. We wanted to place a pantry in every elementary school in mon county to help students not worry about basic needs. So far we have placed pantries in 4 schools in the county. We are asking for sponsorship to keep this going for years to come. Sen. Ernest- How many schools do you have it in? Do you want it across the state? Dir. Thompson- Having the university s aid has really helped us launch this event Sen. Brewster- this Friday from 5:30-7:30? Dir. Thompson- We are having a food drive in front of the court house PPT Heeter- Motion to vote on sponsorship via unanimous consent Sen. Smith- second Open Student Forum II President Jules- Rec Parking, press release this afternoon, only charging parking for 8-4pm and the short term lot by chick fil a will be 50 cents including short term 8. Sen. Quigley- Sports Update! Womens VB team and soccer team at 7 and then Saturday volleyball and mens soccer and then Sunday, womens soccer! Sen. Wilcher- 3-5 pm corn hole tournament next Sunday on the green by my sorority

7 Advisors Report Prof. Klandorf- So many interesting things going on around campus, I think that this discussion during open student forum could bring up some interesting topics and discussions and facts. Like Coca-Cola, sugar is becoming like cigarettes how do students feel about wvu and coca colas relationship?
