Thursday, November 15 Clark County Republican Women Dinner 6PM, Club Green Meadows Election of Officers Reservations required for all CCRW Events; Register and pre-pay online at ClarkCountyRepublicanWomen.org Why I m Voting Republican An opinion piece by CCRW First VP Liz Pike SEE PAGE 6 CCRW Member Renewal Form SEE PAGE 8 VOLUME 2, NUMBER 10 Message from The President By Brook Pell, CCRW President Our Clark County Republican Women (CCRW) organization is growing! Thank you to all our members for stepping up to be part of one of the largest Republican Women s groups in the State of Washington. At press time, we were closing in on 80 members! Our membership drive is in full swing; we invite you to renew your 2019 membership early. When you do, you ll be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card at our January meeting. Don t miss out on your opportunity to win! As Republicans, we must keep our eye on the ball! Yes, there is a lot of noise in our 24-hour news cycle. Let s face it, the main-stream media wants our President to fail. But we can protect him! President Trump is counting on us to support his robust agenda and sing the praises about so many positive developments. It appears President Trump has rolled up his sleeves and accomplished more good things in 21 months than President Obama did over eight years! Fortunately, Americans are thinking for themselves and realizing their lives are better today than when Democrats controlled D.C. This is evidenced by Trump s new 51% approval rating, (his highest since taking office). I m certain heads are exploding on the Far Left. Manufacturing confidence is at an all time high. Unemployment in the U.S. is at it lowest rate since 1969! Business investments are up 39%. For the first time since 1970, U.S. oil production tops 10 million barrels a day. Lastly, our local, state and federal candidates also need our help and support. Please see our complete list of General Election Republican candidates on page 3 of this issue. It s not too late to join a campaign as a volunteer. Lend a hand to repair yard and highway signs or sign up to be an official sign-waver in your corner of the county. Most campaigns are won because of the hardworking volunteers who help candidates race across their finish lines. I m looking forward to seeing you at the next dinner meeting at Club Green Meadows on Thursday, November 15th. This is a very important meeting to elect a First Vice President and a Secretary. Please be sure to RSVP so that we can provide an accurate count to Club Green Meadows. Feel welcome to contact us at ccrwclubinfo@gmail.com with any questions or comments. Your CCRW board is here to serve you and our doors are always open!

6 PAGE 6 A CCRW Opinion Piece by Liz Pike, CCRW First Vice President Why I m Voting a Straight Republican Ticket When I receive my ballot in a couple of weeks, I m going to vote for Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (JHB), even though I supported her Republican Primary challenger Earl Bowerman. I m also casting my ballot for Larry Hoff to replace me in the Washington State House of Representatives. For Republicans like me, neither candidate is really what I am looking for to represent me in House chambers at the federal and state level. However, in politics, we must remind ourselves that we won t find Jesus anywhere on the ballot. None of us are perfect people, therefore, perfect candidates don t exist. I m not saying that we should lower our expectations. It is critical as an American people that we hold our elected officials accountable and equally important that we scrutinize new candidates running for office. When I find myself dissatisfied with choices on the ballot, as I am today, it means that I did not do a good enough job of candidate recruitment. It s just that simple. We cannot blame others. Candidate recruitment is a job that every passionate voter should take serious. Each of us knows a few potential candidates that we meet in our own daily lives. It s up to us to do the asking. What I m looking for in a candidate is pretty simple. I want honest, straight talk. If they are going to raise my taxes, grow government and expand regulation, I want them to have the guts to tell me that. If they want to reign in government spending, and reduce the size and cost of the bureacracy, then tell me that. And for heaven s sake, if they win, I want them to keep their word. I don t want to hear excuses and emotional arguments about why they caved. I also want elected officials to take their oath of office to heart by obeying our U.S. and Washington Constitutions. I find it compelling that founders of our own state constitution insisted on this priority. Article 1, Section 1. Political Power. All political power is inherent in the people and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights. It s pretty clear the founders wanted all political power vested with the people and that the priority for politicians was to protect freedom! During my time in elective office, (four years on the Camas City Council and six years in the State House), I ve been consistent in my political beliefs. My campaign signs were emblazoned with Less Gov t., Lower Taxes and More Freedom. I walked the talk with my reliably conservative voting record. However, as elected officials, we all have at least one vote that we wish we could do over. My one bad vote was the aye for the terrible Public Records Act bill this past session. I made a mistake and I should have voted nay. This brings us back to the fact that there are no perfect candidates on our ballot. All political power is inherent in the people and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights. I want Larry Hoff to tell me that he is going to fight hard against a new state income tax. I want his eyes open to the fact that real transportation solutions will only occur on new corridors. I want him to draw a clear distinction between he and his left leaning Democrat challenger. I want him to put every ounce of his energy into winning between now and November 6th. As far as JHB, I want her to support the policies of President Trump. He is a transformational leader. While he s a little unorthodox, he is getting things done. He s negotiating favorable trade deals, lowering taxes, and cleaning up the heavily polluted deep state. If elected, Long will do everything in her power to block Trump s aggressive agenda that is indeed Making America Great, Again! The truth is that the worst Republican is always better than the best Democrat! As a shining example, just look at the circus going on today in Washington D.C. These views are expressly those of Liz Pike and do not necessarily represent the views of the CCRW Board or its membership.
