22 Issues Issues may arise at the DS200 for a myriad of reasons: Over voted ballots a voter selects too many choices in a contest Blank Ballots (Yes, this really happens) Mismarked ballots a voter does not complete the oval or the DS200 reads no selections (blank ballot) Jammed ballots occur when a voter holds on too long or the DS200 mis-feeds a ballot (#CommitmentIssues) Voters are given the opportunity to correct ballots or tabulate ballot as is or receive a replacement ballot when needed

24 Issues Issues may arise at the DS200 for a myriad of reasons: Ballots Placed in Auxiliary Bin Ballots Left in Privacy Booth Fleeing Voter vs. Voter Who Decides Not to Vote ADA ExpressVote
25 Provisional Ballot Provisional Ballot voting allows a person to vote who does not have appropriate ID, or whose eligibility to vote cannot be determined, or whose eligibility is being questioned. The Provisional Ballot is NOT tabulated on Election Day. Following research by elections office staff, the Canvassing Board determines whether or not the provisional vote should be tabulated. The Importance of a green provisional Secrecy Sleeve - DO NOT allow a voter with a GREEN Provisional Secrecy Sleeve or green Provisional Ballot Envelope near the DS200

27 Closing the Polls (Open to the public) NO Closing Procedures may begin prior to 7:00 p.m. NO Closing Procedures may begin until ALL voters have left the polling room even if it is after 7:00 p.m. (unless they are there to observe the closing of the polls)
28 Closing the Polls Precinct Supervisor announces polls are closed at 7:00 p.m. Precinct Supervisor instructs Poll Deputy to get behind last voter in line to ensure that no one votes who was not in line at 7:00 p.m.
29 Closing the Polls Read all closing and packing procedures to the VSS Notify Precinct Supervisor when you have completed all closing and packing procedures Assist the Precinct Supervisor in any other "Closing the Polls" procedures
30 Closing the Polls 7:00 pm Until? (Open to the Public) Tasks to be completed after last voter has voted and after you are done assisting the VSS in closing procedures Disassembling Privacy Booths Taking down tables/chairs
31 Closing the Polls Items for pick-up by the elections office should be stacked and ready for pick-up It is important to keep our Polling Places clean inside and outside so we may use them again. Don t forget to remove the tape from the floor!!
