1 Ashanut P. Okille LLM Ashanut is a lawyer, a consultant in socio-development and a skilled facilitator. She has significant experience working on issues related to Governance, Human Rights, and Gender. Currently working with Akijul (Enabling Change) 1, Ashanut is also a trained Organisation Development (OD) practitioner who draws on core OD tools and principles, as well as her skills as an Executive Coach to facilitate various processes. Ashanut s work largely involves facilitating Strategic Thinking, Coaching and OD interventions, as well as conducting Programme Evaluations and Reviews/Assessments. She uses various tools/approaches including the Rights Based Approach to Development (RBA), Conflict Sensitive Approaches, Gender Analysis, Appreciative Inquiry, Results-Based Management, and participatory monitoring and evaluation methods. With sixteen years experience of working at community, national and international level, one of her key strengths lies in her ability to balance her knowledge of human rights and governance and her understanding of how people and organisations work, and to leverage this to facilitate interventions in a way that leads to growing consciousness, challenges perspectives and enables individuals and organizations to draw on the best of themselves for their development. Educated as a lawyer, Ashanut started her career in private legal practice and began pursuing her passion for human rights work by working with ACFODE (Action for Development) as a Programme Officer managing their legal and human rights programmes. Following this, she joined the Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) as the Programme Officer for their Peace and Justice programme, eventually becoming responsible for programme as the Deputy director and also taking on the role of Deputy National Coordinator of the NGO Elections Monitoring Group, Uganda. Thereafter, Ashanut took on a position of Ag. Regional Coordinator of, which focused on human rights and conflict issues in the Great Lakes region. She then joined, initially as NGO liaison officer and eventually as head of the Civil and Political Rights programme. Since then, Ashanut has worked at FEECLAHA, the DANIDA HUGGO programme and with various other national CSOs, Faith Based organisations, International development agencies, UN agencies and Government bodies in numerous countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. 1
