The Forum strives to address urgent challenges along the following lines: creating better interfaces between legal systems and working to forge uniform approaches to worldwide challenges facing the advancement of law in a globalized world; updating Russian law, drawing on international best practice in lawmaking and law enforcement; adapting Russian law to international standards in protecting the lawful rights and interests of all parties in legal relationships; promoting modern jurisprudence and legal training in Russia and worldwide. Since its debut in 2011, the SPBILF has emerged as a premier international platform for the sharing of ideas and opinions among top academics and practitioners, shaping new trends in the world of jurisprudence. 7 12 SPB.COM 13 BUSINESS PROGRAMME A total of 111 business events took place at the VII SPBILF, featuring upwards of 500 presenters. The debates, conducted in a variety of formats, covered a host of pressing topics, from court practice to antitrust enforcement, and from impact of technology on law to cultural heritage conservation. This year, the SPBILF included the International Insolvency Forum, bringing together insolvency and bankruptcy practitioners from across the globe. The SPBILF business programme has consistently featured high level events and a representative line-up of participants every year. Discussion focus areas: International Law. Viewers were offered the option of watching the entire content of the discussion panels that interested them; a great many took up that offer, the number of video viewing exceeding 80,000.

The collaboration model the SPBILF uses with LF Live participants encourages them to stage their own SPBILF branded events anywhere in the world while the Forum is on. As long as the online viewing of the Forum s discussion panels remains the meaningful core of these events, their hosts enjoy full freedom in shaping the programme and format for their event. 15 28 29 SPB.COM 29 THE SPBILF PRIZE The SPBILF established the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum Private Law Prize in The conferral of this truly global academic award is intended as a testimony of its winner s ultimate academic excellence, while the cash prize component is meant to advance the realization of the laureate s ideas of worldwide significance. The Expert Committee of the Prize consists of academics of worldwide renown those who set the trends in modern legal science, those whose works have raised generations of modern lawyers. The privilege to nominate candidates for the Prize will be bestowed upon the world s foremost universities, the leaders of the global academic rankings. We firmly believe that the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum Prize will become an internationally recognized benchmark of academic achievement in private law, while the implementation of the prize winners outstanding ideas will contribute to making this world a better, fairer place. From 2018 on, the Prize Winner award ceremonies will be held as part of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

The only requirement is consistent high quality of the event.
