Patronage MEP Maria Joao RODRIGUES - Maria João RODRIGUES was Minister of Employment in Portugal and has been a policy maker working with the European Institutions since In 2014 she was elected Member of the European Parliament. She is now Vice-chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament; Member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs and of the Delegation for relations with the People s Republic of China; as well as substitute of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and of the Delegation for relations with India. Sponsorship GR:EEN FP7 RESEARCH PROJECT - An integrated social sciences and humanities research project funded under the European Commission s 7th Research Framework Programme. It brings together 16 leading universities from 4 continents seeking to understand global governance structures possible emerging directions and Europe s place therein.

Shaun Breslin (University of Warwick - UK - Central Coordinator of the GR:EEN FP7 project) / 3.30pm - Hotel Radisson Blu EU, Rue d Idalie 35, 1050 Brussels, Belgium - Schuman Room Roundtable 1 LEVERAGING TRANSNATIONAL GOVERNANCE NETWORKS RATIONALE This roundtable will provide its +/- 15 participants with two-way interactions between academic research and policy-making. It herewith seeks to (1) make the policy implications drawing from recent research more tangible and (2) provide the research community with a rapid and targeted feedback by the policy actors working in their field of academic inquiry. Its overarching aim is to improve policy making by fostering suggestions based on academic research and effective dialogue among a limited number of participants hailing from the policy making, research and/ or civil society communities. This roundtable - organised after the research efforts - is rooted in accomplished original research on the international dimension of the Eurozone crisis and on the European Union s consequent positioning within transnational governance networks. It endeavours to expand on research findings and thus strenghten their integrity while contributing towards its dissemination to relevant audiences. Discussions will be based on a background note summarizing the main conclusions of the above mentioned research. CHAIR Pr.
