3 Shaun Breslin is Professor of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick where he direct the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation (CSGR). He is also Senior Scientist on the FP7 project GR:EEN ( Global Re-ordering: Evolution through European Networks ) His research areas are primarily: Chinese politics and economy, the political economy of East Asia, globalization, regionalism, governance and International Political Economy. Paul James Cardwell is Reader and Deputy Head of the School of Law and Director of the Sheffield Centre for International and European Law, University of Sheffield. His research focuses on EU external relations and foreign policy, the constitutional order of the EU, regional integration and global governance, the relationship between the EU and international law as well as UK constitutional law. Jan Wouters is Professor and Director of the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, and Director of the Institute for International Law at KU Leuven. His current research focus on the relationship between global multilateral organizations, such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, and the European Union, the accountability of international organizations, multilevel regulatory interactions between global, European and national/subnational rules and standards, including private standards and the contribution of the European Union to the international rule of law. Cormac Mac Amhlaigh is Lecturer in Public Law at University of Edinburgh. His research interests lie generally in the area of public law, with a particular focus on the following areas: UK constitutional law, public law and constitutional theory, the theory and practice of human rights law, post-state law and constitutionalism. He is currently a visiting scholar at the icourts Centre of Excellence at the University of Copenhagen, where he is researching the legitimation strategies adopted by the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice for the broader legitimacy of their respective regimes. John Erik Fossum is Professor at ARENA, University of Oslo. His main fields of interest include political theory, democracy and constitutionalism in the EU and Canada, Europeanisation and the transformation of the nation-state. He was the co-architect, substitute coordinator and co-chair of two work-packages of the 5- year long ARENA-led and EU Commission funded ( 5 million) research project Reconstituting Democracy in Europe (RECON), which involved 20 partner universities across Europe. Owen Parker is Lecturer in European Politics at University of Sheffield. His work examines via a range of historical and contemporary cases the relationship between Europe as a security/peace project and Europe as a market project, as it pertains to both internal and external EU policies. Curent projects focus on the politics of citizenship, mobility and identity in the EU, Governance and democracy in cosmopolitan EU, the eurozone crisis and social Europe and policies and politics towards the Roma in Europe. Roberta Guerrina, Senior Lecturer and Head of the School of Politics, University of Surrey. Her main research interests sit at the interface between national, European and international politics, particularly with reference to the role of gender values/norms in shaping policy agendas. She has experience with participating in multidisciplinary projects and is currently responsible for the work package providing
4 detailed policy analysis of current European and national approaches to active citizenship and promoting political participation in the FP7 Project PIDOP (Processes Informing Democratic Ownership and Participation). Ben Rosamond is Professor of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen and Deputy Director of the Centre for European Politics. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) on EuroChallenge and Director of Work His research operates at the interface of international political economy and European Union studies, focusing in particular on theories of European and regional integration and the role of ideas about the economy within the processes of European integration and EU governance. Holly Snaith is Post Doc/Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at University of Copenhagen. Her principal research interests lie at the nexus between constructivist political economy and EU governance, particularly of macroeconomic policies. She is mainly concerned with the historiographic and theoretical backdrop to economic integration. Niklas Olsen is Assistant Professor at the Saxo Institute and the Centre for Modern European Studies (CEMES) in Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen. His research interests include modern and contemporary European cultural and political history, the history of ideology, conceptual history, the history of ideas, historical theory and historiography. Marlene Wind is Professor of Political Science, Director of Centre for European Politics (CEP), Chair of the EURECO Academic Board and co-founding member of the icourts Centre of Excellence at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on the architecture of the EU and the EU treaties, Europeanization and the global expansion of European law as well as the interplay between law and politics in the European Union. Mikael Rask Madsen is Professor Faculty of Law University of Copenhagen and Head of icourts, Centre of Excellence for International Courts, at the University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on globalisation and its effects on international law and institutions. Hans-Jörg Trenz is Professor at the Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, Faculty of Humanities and Director of Centre for Modern European Studies (CEMES) at the University of Copenhagen. His research interests cover the European public sphere and civil society, media and political communication, identity, migration, ethnic minorities, cultural and political sociology and democratic theory. Rebecca Adler-Nissen is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on European integration, diplomacy and sovereignty, and theoretically her primary interests are IR theory, International Political Sociology (especially Pierre Bourdieu and Erving Goffman), practice theory and anthropological methods (i.e. participant observation and fieldwork). Ian Manners is Professor of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen. Ian is currently working on a project studying the importance of myths and symbols in European integration focusing on four main areas: green Europe, social Europe, economic Europe and global Europe. Amongst his other research areas are EU's role as a normative power in global politics.
5 Christine Søby is a PhD fellow in the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen. Her research explores the use of European symbols and myths through EU diplomacy in the United Nation's sustainable development fora, and how this impacts on European integration and the EU's global role as a normative power.
