2 President s Message 2 The most important message that I can provide this month is to ask each of you to please make democracy work and vote!! Early voting begins October 27 and ends November 3, Election Day is November 8, ~Lillie Gallant, President, LWVHC The next Great Decisions meeting is on Wednesday, November 9, 7:00, with the video starting promptly at 7:30, at the Cripe's home, Catterskill Court, Columbia, The topic is Cuba and the United States. Phone: , janiscripe@aol.com Magnetic, Personalized LWV Name Tags Available By Andrea Morris Gruhl When attending a League of Women Voters event, a member is frequently expected to wear a name tag. You may be concerned about the damage to your best clothing from repeated puncturing to pin a name tag or residual glue on clothing from adhesive name tags. Dr.Renate Soulen, a new LWVHC member recently moved here from Michigan, where a local League engaged a manufacturer to produce an attractive metal name tag that affixes to one s clothing via a magnetic bar on the inner surface of one s garment. The surface of the rectangular tag is white. A red line runs horizontally across the tag s middle. Above the line is the blue national LWV logo containing its red slash. Beside the logo is printed in black lettering League of Women Voters. Beneath the red line also in black lettering is one s name. Each pin costs about $10, but there is a reduced cost if we order more than 25 at once. If you are interested in acquiring such a personalized, magnetic name tag, please contact Andrea Gruhl (andreagruhl@aol.com) by December 2. Those responding affirmatively will be notified of the final cost after we know how many of us want to order the name tags Board of Directors Officers President Lillie Gallant Vice President Carole Conors Secretary Michelle Rice Trotter Treasurer Barbara Russell Directors Roxanne Hughes-Wheatland & Jean Israel, Membership Patricia Laidig, Communications Patricia Gordon, Education Vacant, Program Betsy Singer, Environment Linda Wengel, Voter Serv./Poll Eval.
