3 INTRODUCTION 3/12 Our Mission We ensure compliance with all immigration, visa, and mobility regulations for international students, faculty members, and researchers in the US, and all members of the University community going abroad for NYU study or work. We strive to create an innovative and empathic environment, providing the highest quality, personalized immigration, visa, and intercultural programs and services that respond to the needs of students, scholars, and their families, and promote cross-cultural understanding. 4 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 4/12 International Student Demographics NYU is the #1 institution hosting international students in the US. We have 2,999 more international students than the #2 institution. F-1 and J-1 Students Gender* 17,326 (September 2016) 51% Female 49% Male 215% 5,502 (September 2006) * Data is limited to binary female/male based on passport information. As of 2017, there are very few countries allowing transgender and gender non-conforming people to be recognized on passports. 6 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 6/12 Student Spotlights Bhavana Singh School of Professional Studies Graduate President of SPS Management and Systems Student Association Past Events Chair for SPS Graduate Student Council NYU Spirit Week organizer SPS Winter Ball organizer An advocate for the international student body, Bhavana Singh went above and beyond her roles as a student leader. As a core member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at SPS, she consistently proposed ideas to better understand student needs and engagement. Nathalie Qin Silver School of Social Work Graduate International Student Advisory Board Nathalie Qin s work centered on improving the international student experience. As a member of the International Student Advisory Board, she sought to increase visibility of international students. She was invited by senior administrators to advise them on issues facing international students. Louis Slade- Caffarel Global Liberal Studies International Student Advisory Board Committed to ethics and social entrepreneurship, Louis Slade-Caffarel used his dual citizenship in France and Australia to promote crosscultural learning and social impact. He also organized Impact Journalism Day at NYU, where over 20 collegiate newspapers from several countries came together to discuss social innovation through student journalism.

10 SERVICES 10/12 In-Person Advising Student Applications and Transactions During advising hours, we had 20,018 sessions with international students 1,300 sessions with students going abroad for NYU programs * Data for September 2016 is excluded above due to the decommissioned Qnomy server in April In September 2016 we had 1187 visits with Inbound and Outbound combined. Employment Authorization 6,694 students applied for Pre-, Post-, and STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT) 1,552 students applied for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) 1,744 students applied for Social Security Administration letters 7,303 I-20s issued to newly admitted students 339 DS-2019s issued to newly admitted students 183 I-20s issued for students returning from a leave of absence

11 PROGRAMS 11/12 Employment workshops for 697 international students Orientation for 5,259 new international students Visa workshops for 665 students going abroad Workshops with immigration attorneys with 254 students in attendance English classes (conversation and American culture) for 45 spouses and partners of international students and scholars An ice cream social outside 383 Lafayette Street with 259 students and employees in attendance Welcome breakfast with orientation and weekly support group for 123 spouses and partners of international students and scholars Commencement breakfasts in Manhattan and Brooklyn for 325 graduating international students & Scholar reception for 115 international scholars, providing an opportunity to network with each other and meet our team An international student resource fair with 280 students in attendance US passport drives helping 163 US citizens get/renew their passports School specific immigration workshops for 720 international students Global Entry enrollment registrations helping 185 NYU community members get expedited clearance when traveling in and through US airports. International Education Week celebrations and events with 93 students in attendance Tax workshops for 110 international students and scholars We provided funds to help support over 20 programs and events contributing to international education efforts across campus in more than 15 schools, departments, and student clubs and in New York including the SRC, NYU RISE, CMEP, Steinhardt, Tisch, Tandon, and One To World. These programs included: Welcome Week International Student Arts and Cultural Activities Group Orientation Activities Let s Talk International Immigration and Executive Order discussions Diwali/Garba Night Africa Night Alternative Breaks Morocco Latinx and Black Graduation Ceremonies

12 COMMUNICATIONS 12/12 s On average we sent out s 4 times a month with an average open rate of 70% & Click through rate of 14% Website On average we had 90,250 monthly visitors to our pages on the NYU website Top Traffic Sources: 73% Google Internet Usage from: 74% Desktop 24% Facebook 23% Mobile Facebook 4,030 people followed and/or liked our Facebook page 24% increase from the year before Twitter 2,451 people followed our Twitter account 17% increase from the year before We moderate a Facebook group for NYU international students to provide a forum for students across campus to share information with each other, with a membership of 1,974 up from the year before by 83%
