To be eligible for O- status, a person must be recognized as outstanding within their field. TN Status, Total: To be eligible for TN status, the employee must be either a Canadian or Mexican citizen. The TN classifications most commonly used at W&M and VIMS include teachers (includes instructors and professors), researcher assistants, scientists, and scientific technicians and technologists. Dependents of Scholars and Students, Total: 0 Dependents are spouses and children who accompany students and scholars during their time at W&M and VIMS. Visa Type Number of Dependents F-2 70 J-2 40
6 F- Optional Practical Training (OPT), Total: 55 W&M and VIMS also have international students and alumni who are in the U.S. while on Optional Practical Training work authorization. Most people on OPT are recent graduates. The Reves Center continues to maintain their immigration records and advise them while they are on OPT, which typically lasts from 2 29 months.
