Established in 1966, LAWASIA comprises over forty member oranisations and has individual members from more than fif ty countries world-wide. Its mission is to promote universally hih standards of leal practice and continuin leal education, to be a voice of the leal community of the reion, to uphold the rule of law and to protect human rihts across the diverse rane of political, cultural, social and economic contexts of the Asia Pacific reion. About the conference LAWASIA is delihted to invite participation in the 6th LAWASIA Family Law & Children s Rihts Conference to be held in Hon Kon SAR from 9 to 11 June Hosted in the modern and dynamic city of Hon Kon, the conference will focus on a rane of cross border family law and children rihts issues includin surroacy, the interaction of secular family law systems and reliion, impact of ADR of children, ethical issues for family lawyers and dealin with modern family concepts across jurisdictions. The specially desined proram will have relevance to family law practitioners, children s counsel, lawyers who specialise in leal areas such as criminal, employment, immiration law, judes, policy makers, academics, special education services providers, overnment and nonovernment aencies. The LAWASIA conference provides a unique opportunity for the Asia- Pacific leal sector to come toether and exchane meaninful views and information on issues that affect children and families. Please note that discounted reistration fees for members in all various cateories are available only to currently financial individual LAWASIA members. Hotels Deleates should make their own accommodation reservations directly with hotels. The LAWASIA secretariat rerets that it is unable to accept hotel reservations. Details of suested hotels are available on the conference website. Deleates are advised to make reservations as early as possible. Insurance Participants, accompanyin persons and uests are advised to af fect their own insurance to cover all risks includin (but not limited to) costs of travel, accommodation, conference reistration, injury/death, health and medical expenses, personal property and all other risks. LAWASIA and the conference will not be held liable for claims under any circumstances. This includes participation in any pre & post tourin and activities undertaken by deleates and accompanyin persons. Cancellation All cancellations must be notified to the LAWASIA secretariat in writin by , fax or mail two weeks prior to the commencement of the event. Where a refund of reistration fees is souht due to non-attendance, this will be considered on notification to the LAWASIA secretariat by , fax or mail. Refunds, less a $100 administration fee, will only be considered af ter the conference has been concluded and where extenuatin circumstances exist. No refunds will be issued on site. Where a reistered deleate is unable to attend, a replacement deleate may be nominated without chare up to 1 weeks prior to the commencement of the event on advice to the LAWASIA secretariat in writin by , fax or mail. Af ter this date, a fee of AU$20 will apply for any transfer of reistration to another deleate. Refund of accommodation and tour deposits and/ or prepayment is at the discretion of the hotel/ operatin company. Force majeure Neither LAWASIA nor the conference shall be liable for delay or failure to oranise the conference if such delay is due to fire, typhoon, cyclone, earthquake, flood, strike, labour dispute, war, overnment order, riot, revolution, pandemic or any other cause beyond their reasonable control. Reistration entitlements Reistration can be completed online at and by mail or fax copy reistration forms. Reistration should be considered finalised when receipt of payment and confirmation in writin by deleates. Please allow 3 to 5 workin day for processin. Additional costs All other costs includin but not limited to accommodation, airfares, visa fees, transportation and meals except those included under reistration entitlements shall be borne by the participant (includin speakers). Neither LAWASIA nor the conference will be held liable for any costs under any circumstances.
