2 Page!2 Siem Reap Student Trip 13 th -17 th November Students + 6 Teachers Proposal Beyond Unique Escapes is pleased to provide the following package for your 2017 Cambodian Adventure. We have prepared a package that highlights some of Siem Reaps amazing experiences minus the crowds. Enjoy unlocking some of Siem Reaps hidden treasures with your private guide. Please note we have not listed every temple you will visit by name. All sites on both the small and grand circuits can be visited within this package, we will make suggestions based on the allowed time, and exploring as much as possible away from the crowds. 3 Page!3 Day One 13 th November Arrival in Phnom Penh 5:00am Depart HCMC by local Bus Our expert guide will be waiting for the group at the border to welcome them to Cambodia and ensure a safe transfer to Phnom Penh. On arrival in Phnom Penh our guide will facilitate a smooth check in, followed by lunch at a local restaurant (Lotus Blanc or similar) After lunch, you will visit the infamous Killing Fields to learn about the atrocities that took place under the Khmer Rouge. Here there are stark and moving reminders of Cambodia s recent tragic past. Our expert guide will explain the historical, political and social context of the bleak period of Khmer history which followed the fall of Phnom Penh in April Sunset Dinner Cruise At around 17:00 we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to your cruise boat. On-board, enjoy a set dinner (included) while cruising the Mekong and Bassac Rivers, while experiencing sunset over the Phnom Penh city skyline. After the cruise, we will transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at Frangipani Living Arts Hotel Day Two 14th November Phnom Penh to Siem Reap - Depart at 8:00am, transfer from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap by comfortable Coach (x 2). Departure time is to be determined but travel time is estimated at around 6-7 hours. It s also possible to make a few stops along the way to see the Spider Market at Skun and the ancient Angkorian Bridge at Kompong K dei, for example. Packed lunch and bottled water included 3.00pm 4.30pm Arrive Siem Reap and transfer to Hotel Arrive at PHARE the Cambodian Circus. The circus is a wonderful mix of theater, acrobatics and contortion all set to a Cambodian tale. Circus Workshop Students participate in a workshop with artists learning some basic circus tricks and having an opportunity to try and some activities 6.00pm 7.45pm Dinner Khmer Buffet at the circus Show Enjoy the latest Circus Show

Overnight at Memoire Siem Reap Hotel (or similar) Day Three 15 th November Village Experiences and Community Service 8.00am After breakfast we depart Siem Reap and journey to Kompheim village. We will start our work with HUSK Cambodia an NGO that works in this village. Enjoy an orientation walk through the village, including an ox cart ride. This is a great opportunity to learn about life in a typical village and understand more about the community you will be working with. Your group will then meet your host family and learn about house they will repair. *Specific work program to be discussed between HUSK and AAVN Lunch will be with the host family. We will provide food for the families (at each of their houses) as well as the participants. 6:00pm Dinner tonight is at Asian Square Restaurant (or similar), followed by a visit to the Made in Cambodia night market. Overnight at Memoire Siem Reap Hotel (or similar) Day Four 16 th November Village Experiences and Community Service 8.00am After breakfast we depart Siem Reap and journey to Kompheim village. *Specific work program to be discussed between HUSK and AAVN pm Lunch will be with the host family. We will provide food for the families (at each of their houses) as well as the participants. 6:00pm Village House for a dinner by moonlight with the families that we worked for on the first day of service and a traditional Apsara dance performance will be included. 5 Page!5 Experience the Temples The Great Race 7.30am 9.00am 11.00pm 12:30pm Breakfast at the hotel The Great Race Commences! The Great race will be conducted in the countryside and through Siem Reap. The race is conducted in a very similar fashion to the television series. Teams will have to undertake challenges both physical and mental. We provide support staff at each stage of the race to look after the participants throughout the challenge. Return to the hotel to check-out Lunch at Marum Restaurant or similar Explore the incredible Angkor Wat. The World Heritage listed Angkor Wat is the jewel of the Khmer Empire. Built over 900 years ago it is still the largest religious monument ever built. A guided tour through the incredible complex will bring Angkor to life. Participant will learn about how the incredible temple was built, the people who lived around it and the stories of the god and demons that adorn its walls. From Angkor Wat we explore the amazing city of Angkor Thom. We enter Angkor Thom through the south gate guarded by angels and demons. The city is surrounded by walls and five separate gates. Within the city is the amazing Bayon temple adorned with smiling faces, the Terrace of the Leper King and Elephant Terrace. We explore all of these sites allowing participants to learn more about Cambodia s interesting history. 6:45pm Departure

6 Page!6 Package Inclusions & Information Accommodation Accommodation will be provided at Frangipani Living Arts hotel in Phnom Penh and Memoire Hotel in Siem Reap or similar. A buffet breakfast will be provided each day by the hotels Dress Code There is a strict dress code for all time within the village or HUSK school. All students and teachers must have knees and shoulders covered by clothing. Sports shorts are not acceptable. Please ensure there are no revealing necklines. The same dress code applies for temple visits. Entrance Fees Entrance fees to venues listed within this itinerary are all included. Should the itinerary be changed to include additional venues with entrance fees those costs are not included. Husk Donation This package price includes a donation to HUSK Cambodia that pays for the house repairs to the family s house Guide Services Throughout the package 2 English speaking guides will be working with the participants. At times additional guides will also be involved in various activities. Insurance Insurance is the responsibility of each participant. Siem Reap has an international hospital offering world class care. Evacuation by helicopter is available in the case of emergency. Please ensure all participants have adequate insurance coverage with evacuation clauses. A first aid kit will be carried by our staff for all activities. Meals Breakfasts will be provided by the hotel. All other meals are included within this package. Any special dietary requirements need to be communicated 2 weeks prior to the trip commencement. 7 Page!7 Bottles of drinking water will be provided for each activity for all participants. Hydration is extremely important and this should be addressed in participant briefing sessions before the trip. Possessions Cambodia suffers from extreme poverty and while extremely safe and friendly, theft can be an issue particularly in the capital. We strongly recommend that participants be advised to leave items like ipods, mp3 s, expensive phones etc behind Transfers Your package includes return transfers. Transport Transport for this group will be a mixture of buses for most days and tuk tuks for the temple and Great Race day. We will provide 2 private buses to transfer from AAVN to Phnom Penh. Flights back to HCMC can be booked, but are additional to this tour price. Visas You are responsible for ensuring all participants have their entry visas and meet requirements for these visas. Please be aware Cambodia has different requirements for different nationalities. This is incredibly important for international schools whose participants come from diverse backgrounds. Please be aware you are responsible for all Visa costs and entry / exit taxes from Cambodia. Also please be aware that everyone will require a minimum of 6 months validity on their passports to be allowed entry to Cambodia.
