2 31 st March, 2016 AEON 1% CLUB FOUNDATION JAPAN CAMBODIA TEENAGE AMBASSADORS CAMBODIA PROGRAM PROGRAM REPORT After Japan Program in January, We have carried out the Teenage Ambassadors Program in Cambodia. The achievements of the program are summarized as follow. I. Period:From 14 th to 21 st March, 2016 II. Major Participants: 20 students from Hokkaido Sapporo Kiyota High School 20 students from CHEA SIM CHAMROEUNRATH HIGH SCHOOL Japanese student taking commemorative photo with host family (second right) H.E. Location:Kingdom of Cambodia (Siem Reap, Phnom Penh) IV. Objective of the Program This program aims to provide senior high school students of Japan and overseas the opportunities to study the diversity of culture and values of each other s countries through the mutual exchange. 3 VI. Activity Report: 1 Courtesy Activities Courtesy Visit to Cambodian Government 17 th Mar. It was a good opportunity to lean many thing through a homestay. (Mother of a female student) We had no problem hosting a homesay and enjoyed it. We hope the program will continuously holding (Mother of a female student) Experiencing this exchanging program will be a valuable treasure for their lives. (Mother of a female student) The preparation for a homestay wasn t a big deal. It was a short time but we enjoyed a stimulating time. (Mother of a female student) 9 / 16

12 I think a homestay is a good way to understand each other s culture. I believe all the students spent a significant time at Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. I hope the program hold continuously... Cambodia Teenage Ambassador 2013 OBs giving a speech My host family welcomed me very warmly. It was the first time for me to do a homestay and I felt nervous but my host family treated me very nicely that I felt very relaxed. 14 VII. Comments from Participants:( Quotes from speech and feedback sheet) Japanese Students My host family treated me very nicely and taught me anything I don t know about. I learned Khmer language from them and they looked very happy when I spoke Khmer with them. Cambodian people always gave me smiles and greeted me which made me feel very pleased. I learned that even communication is very important... I leaned many culture differences from the exchange program such as Cambodian people usually eat out for breakfast. When I have difficulties having a conversation, I could always express my thoughts by using body. I also learned the importance of the body language... Cambodian Students I gained valuable experiences from both Japan and Cambodia program. The time passed very quickly and I wished I could have more time to spend with my partner. I hope we have another chance to have the exchange program with same members... During the Cambodian program, I experienced my things from class experience and homestay with Japanese high school students. I think it is better if the program was longer. I would like to participate again if there is a program like the teenage ambassador... Teachers Both Japan and Cambodia program became very valuable experiences for the students. The courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Sok An, welcome reception at the Japan Embassy and the homestay, everything was good experience for them. Even after the program, the students are still contacting each A Japanese teacher other so I believe they deepened the relation and became very close friends... The students gained not only friends, but also precious memories from the program. From the mass and English class experience, they learned how the lessons are taught in Cambodia. The school was using donated desks and chair from Hokkai-do that we felt a bond between them... A Japanese teacher 13 / 16

Published Articles News Paper 19 th March 2016 Cambodian Khmer New Paper (translation in English) 17 th March, 2016 A Welcome Reception Held at Embassy of Japan in Cambodia for Japanese and Cambodian High School Students At Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, a welcome reception was held for Japanese and Cambodian high school students. Japanese government is supporting variety of events for youths to learn sosiety. This time, a program calls Japan-Cambodia Teenage Ambassador was held. Its purpose is to deepen their relationships and understanding toward each other country through visiting both countries and cultural exchange activities. The program operator of AEON 1% Club also supports school construction project and scholarship program for development of Cambodia. There are many international exchange program for Cambodia s human resource development by Japanese companies such as Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Program(SSEAYP)or Japan East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) 14 / 16
16 Web Article 25 th March 2016 Krorma Magazine Japan Cambodia Teenage Ambassadors Program Organize by AEON 1% Club Foundation Welcome Reception of Japan and Cambodian teenage ambassadors was held at the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia on the 17 th Mar. (Thurs.). This program has started in 1990 to build network among the same generation, and to have a global point of view by high school students visiting each other s country. There have been 2,052 students from 18 countries including Japan participating in this program and this is the third time to have exchange program with Cambodia. Students from both countries deepened the friendship each other by showing off traditional dances at Welcome Reception. ( 15 / 16
