Thank you to Gary Eller (chair), Randy Hicks, Joe Cessar, Rahul Madarapu, Trevor Hyatt and Alex Vaughan for their hard work getting the applications out to universities and high schools then reviewing all the applications and choosing those to receive funds. The high caliber of applicants is a reflection of their endeavor to always improve the process. Jennifer Julian awarded them 4/5 while guest speaking at the student section. Here are the names: College Scholarships High School Scholarship Thomas Polasek - $4000 Bryce Horton - $1000 Kyle Raese - $3000 Justin Cannon - $2000 Our March meeting was well attended, thanks everybody who made time post spring break to get to the meeting. The advertised speaker had to cancel at the last minute due to work but Halliburton provided an alternate, Andy Landry who spoke about a new technology being introduced to Alaska at Alpine; real time density and viscosity measurement. It is good to hear things like this are making use of new technology. See the data sheet on the kit at: We held a clay shoot at Grouse Ridge on March 29th. Thanks to Gerald Atol and Joe Cessar for planning and managing this fundraiser. We had 8 teams and raised $500. See results below. 1/5

2 CLAY SHOOT REPORT - GERALD ATOL Congratulations to the winning BP Team of Doug Cismoski, Clayton Rue, Bob Harris, Larry Disbrow and Ryan Daniel. Also congratulations to James Ohlinger for putting up a good score (and his personal best) and pushing it all the way to the last round of the shoot off before dropping two targets and handing the shoot to yours truly. Nice shooting James, really! (Ah but don t come with that my God the wind got me thing either). Thanks to everyone for your participation. I have heard only positive feedback on the shoot. I know it was small but I refuse to let this thing die on the vine so to speak. I have also heard from 3 of the teams so far wanting to try to do something in the fall if possible so we may kick that around some more at summers end. Also thanks to Baker Hughes Inc., for the Station Sponsor towards the AADE Scholarship Program. I will be getting something personalized out for the winning team. I ll be in touch with Doug on that later. I think when it is all said and done, we will have raised about $500., for the AADE Scholarship Program. 3 Tips From The State by Guy Schwartz, Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission Permitting Statistics (as of April 1, 2013) Permits to Drill: Sundry Notices: Surface Casing Top Jobs Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) regulations governing cementing are found at 20 AAC Paragraph (d)(4) requires the annular space of surface casing (conductor-surface casing annulus) to be filled with cement from the casing shoe to the surface. An inadequate primary cement job is evidenced by 1) cement not circulated to surface, 2) an excessive quantity of cement circulated to surface, or 3) results of a formation integrity test that indicate insufficient integrity of the casing shoe. The following clarification is provided to address actions that are to be taken specifically in response to cement not circulated to surface: Contact AOGCC as soon as inadequate cementing of surface pipe is indicated using notification procedures outlined in AOGCC Industry Guidance Bulletin 10-01A; Prepare a plan for remedial cementing and submit to AOGCC for review and approval ( submittal is acceptable); an Application for Sundry Approvals (Form ) is also required; o Include details about primary cement job volume pumped; any diagnostics prior to cement job to confirm hole size/volume cement needed (e.g., tracer); problems during cement job, lost returns etc. Notify AOGCC Inspectors for an opportunity to witness the procedure that will be used to determine top of primary cement in the conductor-surface casing annulus; Run small diameter pipe or other conduit to top of cement and pump top job per approved procedure; If cannot definitively identify the primary cement top, notify AOGCC before pumping cement and discuss options; Follow up with a Report of Sundry Well Operations (Form ) and include details of the actual remedial cement job that was pumped.
