1 CENTRAL ILLINOIS RADIO CLUB =========================== Short CIRCuits July 2001 Central Illinois Radio Club P.O. Box 993 Bloomington, IL President: Rick Kempf, WD9HRU Vice President: Larry Mays, KB9NPH Secretary: Dean Lacy, AA9BS Treasurer: Floyd Hofmann, W9EX Newsletter Editor: Norman Huber, N9ZKS JULY PREZ COLUMN CQ CQ the CIRC Half the year has passed already. Can you believe it? Field Day was just completed. Next month is the picnic and mini field day. This month we will look at field days of yesterday. They were originally silent home movies that were dubbed to videotape with added commentary of who the people are. Come and see yourself as a younger person and in some cases with hair. We will also finalize the plans for next month. This month we will be meeting at the Red Cross building. Hope to see there. 73's de WD9HRU CIRC Minutes of meeting 6/27/
2 Officers present: Rick WD9HRU; President; DEAN AA9BS Sect. 15 CIRC Members Rick WD9HRU asked for comments on the Field Day Exercise: Gary AB9M reported 3842 points + bonus; 917 Contacts. Operating modes were CW, SSB, AM, Satellite, and Packet; Station ID was 4A, IL Everyone agreed agreed it was a lot of fun and a good operation. AB9M advised State Farm was having a Severe Weather Information Meeting in Feb. or March. The CIRC should advertize this meeting in advance, to get more New Amateurs interested in attending. Also advised advance reservations will be necessary to attend. A question as to how we might attract new interests and members? It was decided by the members to have a Cook-Out, with a complete Operating Station set up for Members and Visitors and possibly have a Fox Hunt. Each Member to invite a person or persons to attend. This event will be held: Maxwell Park, Normal, Il.( Near Normal West High School) Date: August 18, 2001, Time: 12:00 noon till Park Closing Time. Eldon advised Field Day Pictures can be seen on the Club Web Page via the Reflector. He also advised the web page was being used very little. A general discussion about Field Day and its operation. Everett W9LMJ Motion to adjourn, Second by Andy K9IKR, motion carried. The Central Illinois Radio Club is having a Pot Luck Cook-out! ============================================================= Will include a Fox Hunt and informal Special Event Station. We would like to welcome all hams and interested visitors, and show off our hobby! When: Saturday, August 18, 2001 Time: 12:00 Noon till Park Closing Time Where: Maxwell Park, Normal, IL (Near Normal West HS) A complete operating station will be set up for Members and Visitors If you have any questions contact Dean Lacy, (309)
