1 Genesis ARS News letter May 2017 Editorial Summer is fast approaching! Are you ready? Field Day is coming FAST!! Time to dust off your brain and schedule so you can be there!! Starting in January of 2017 are the monthly Speaking Engagements to be delivered at each monthly Genesis meeting, last Monday evening each month. The meetings begin at 7PM sharp with brief business session then right into the speakers presentations. Please plan to join us for one of these or heck, come to all of them. Genesis membership is not required. Here is the current speakers schedule: FYI: July thru Aug will be unavailable due to summer activity and people s unavailability. *Please feel free to join us at one or all of these meetings / speaking engagements Genesis ARS membership is not required! If you Meeting Minutes for April 2017 Minutes for GARS meeting April 2017 Meeting was called to order at 7:30pm Pledge of Allegiance given and Moment of Silence for Silent Keys including Ms. Ken Kavaljian, who had recently passed. Secretary s Report: Members present voted to except Secretary s Report as submitted with amendment to include notice of the amount of $15,000 for purchase of repeater. Treasurer: Treasurer gave the financial report that was voted by members present to except as presented. Committees: No Reports Given Old Business: Joe Costa will be heading up the planning for a foxhunt event. Repeater - The repeater is being programmed and will be potentially swapped out next month.
3 2 Baofeng radios are available as prizes for operators who conduct the most check-ins and most Rag Chews. They will be presented during the Field Day events. Upcoming Events: BSA in the Sky will be held on May 6, GARS will be holding sessions for the Radio Merit Badge at the event. The display boards prepared for the event will be used for future license classes, etc. Guides are still needed. General Class License Class May 13 at Middleboro Library and May 20 at Plymouth Airport with a VE session to follow. ARRL Kids Day June 18. A special certificate will be made up for all children on N1ZIZ. Field Day June People are required for teams to setup, cook, operate, and give relief as needed. Operations will be both phone and CW.
