1 MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION - ISD #361 INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MINNESOTA Monday April 14, 2003 School Board Members Present: Ann Baron, Robin Baumchen, Gerry Bolstad, Amy Hardwig- Eberspacher, Mark Lassila, Darrell Wagner, Percy Lingen Media Present: Jennifer Gray - The Daily Journal, Roger Jerome-KGHS Radio Station An Open Forum was held with the following individuals and concerns: Ian Hopkins- NFL LeAnn Hardy-Athletic Proposal Emmi Lattu KG Placement/KG Teacher Aide positions Lisa West Holler Elementary Bill Dougherty Holler Elementary/electives/athletics Mike Katrin athletics/golf Debbie Ciminski - electives Moved by D. Wagner, seconded by M. Lassila to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by D. Wagner, seconded by R. Baumchen to approve a student teaching agreement with Minot State University for fall of Moved by A. Hardwig-Eberspacher, seconded by G. Bolstad to hold a public hearing on the proposed closure of Holler Elementary on Monday, May 5, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. in the Falls High School Cafeteria. A budget work session was conducted with the following actions pursuant to the Revised Administrative Recommendations which is attached hereto and made a part thereof. Moved by G. Bolstad, seconded by D. Wagner to reopen Electives (Item BB) for discussion. Motion Moved by G. Bolstad, seconded by A. Hardwig-Eberspacher to retain one section of Creative Writing (Item BB). Moved by M. Lassila, seconded by D. Wagner to offer one semester section of a social studies elective (Item BB). Moved by G. Bolstad, seconded by D. Wagner, to remove AP Calculus (Item BB) from the recommended cut list.

2 Moved by M. Lassila, seconded by D. Wagner, to eliminate.167 of accounting (Item BB). Motion carried with a 5-1 vote. Voting in favor: M. Lassila, A. Baron, D. Wagner, A. Hardwig-Eberspacher, R. Baumchen. Voting against: G. Bolstad. Moved by A. Hardwig-Eberspacher, seconded by M. Lassila to reconsider Peer Helpers (Item Y). Moved by A. Hardwig-Eberspacher, seconded by M. Lassila to eliminate Peer Helpers (Item Y). Moved by G. Bolstad, seconded by R. Baumchen to eliminate Health Occupations, Theatre Alive, Peer Helpers (Item BB). Moved by M. Lassila, seconded by G. Bolstad to eliminate 9 th grade physical education requirement and retain the 9 th grade health requirement (Item BB). Motion failed with a 4-2 vote. Voting in favor: M. Lassila, A. Bolstad to eliminate regularly assigned overtime bus driving by custodians and to require that all regular route bus driving be done within the custodians eight hour day (Item S). Moved by D.
