1 2012 Minutes of the CUTCHOGUE FIRE DISTRICT Page 1 of 5 The November meeting of the Cutchogue Fire District was called to order by Commissioner Chairman Sanford Friemann, at the Cutchogue Firehouse, at 8 pm with the Flag Salute. Roll call was taken as follows: Sanford Friemann, Commissioner Arthur Brewer, Commissioner Robert A. Fisher, Commissioner James R. Fogarty Jr. Commissioner Joseph S. Zuhoski Jr., Commissioner Peter Zwerlein, Treasurer Matthew J. Martin, Secretary Excused Motion was in order to accept the previous minutes and treasurers report as printed and distributed. Motion by Commr Robert Fisher seconded by Commr Arthur Brewer, motion carried unanimously. Treasurer Zwerlein read current bills for board approval totaling $73, and so moved by Commr Sanford Friemann seconded by Commr Joseph Zuhoski Jr. motion approved unanimously. A copy thereof is attached to these minutes as Attachment #1. Correspondence: Letters from Chief David Fohrkolb placing: Matthew Martin on Medical Inactive as of October 23, Michael Lessard on Medical Inactive as of November 02, Dawn Ivans having completed her Hazmat Refresher has been removed from suspension as of November 04, Michael Lessard Sr. has been removed from the Medical Inactive List as of November 17, Motion by Commr Friemann, seconded by Commr Robert Fisher to approve the above items submitted by Chief Fohrkolb, motion carried unanimously. Letter from United Fire Co. No.1 informing that Andrew Olsen was elected new member Number 556 on November 1, Also that Jennifer Zuhoski is moving from the district and was placed on the Honorary List as of November 1, Letter received from the town assessors requesting that we update our tax exemption status on all parcels of land. Letter from Captain Larry Behr informing that all Fire Wells have been pumped and tested as of November 18, 2012.

2 2012 Minutes of the CUTCHOGUE FIRE DISTRICT Page 2 of 5 Notice that the Cutchogue Fire Department will hold a 5K race and Toy drive on Dec. 16, 2012 for the community. A receipt from Visual ations Company outlining their quote and receipt of our old wall maps for updating in the amount of $ (previously approved) Commissioners reports: Commr Friemann informed that the districts insurances were in order and without claims from hurricane Sandy. This was the worst storm in LI history and he offered the boards thanks to all who participated and to those who continue to provide Mutual aid to Long Beach, NY. The surplus ambulance has all documents signed and ready for delivery when the owner can travel to pick it up. Happy Thanksgiving! Commr Brewer noted that the front entrance doors were damaged during the hurricane and needed extensive repairs. He expects to eliminate one door on the auto lock system to help the situation. The EMS locker has been found open overnight and Commr Brewer would like to add the doors to the electronic lock system in order to track the entry and exit for the supply closet. He has a quote from Hello Alert to install the lock system for $ Some discussion followed and a motion was made by Commr Friemann, seconded by Commr Fisher to install the electronic lock system on the EMS doors, motion carried unanimously. Commr Brewer also informed that the service agreement on our 9 Visio Packs is about to expire and should be renewed as a 2013 budget item. Motion by Fisher and seconded by Zuhoski to renew the contract for the same period of time and to pay for it out of the 2013 budget funds. Commr Fisher has reviewed the well pumping records and found them to be in order. The fire police require replacement gloves for the winter and he has researched materials that would serve the squad well at a cost of $ for 21 pairs. Motion by Fisher, seconded by Zuhoski to purchase the 21 pair of Fire Police Gloves for approximately $400.00, motion carried unanimously. Commr Fisher continued by noting that our weather reporting instruments have long since deteriorated and should be replaced. The system would have been helpful during the recent hurricane and now should be replaced. The system can broadcast to Ipods and Web Service. Motion by Commr Fisher, seconded by Commr Zuhoski to purchase the necessary weather reporting equipment for approximately $ and to be installed by our people, motion carried unanimously.

Happy Thanksgiving! Chief David Fohrkolb s report: Activities: 1. Fire police training at headquarters. Wednesday, November 28 th 7pm 2. Annual chamber of commerce Christmas helicopter landing. Saturday, December 8 th 3. Annual company Christmas party Saturday, December 8 th 4. Christmas parade in Greenport Sunday, December 9 th 1pm Requests: 1. Purchase five (10) Motorola Minitor pagers w/5 yr extended warranty. NYS contract. $2, Purchase ten (10) Minitor pager chargers $ Purchase twelve (12) Minitor batteries $ Purchase ten (10) complete sets of lion apparel turnout gear. NYS contract ($32,000) 5. Request permission to send one Cutchogue engine with crew for a mutual aid deployment to Nassau County. This was arranged through Suffolk County Fire Rescue. 24 hr shift beginning 8am November 21 st to 8am November 22 nd. 6. Request the use of fire district property for the racing teams annual Christmas tree fundraiser sale. Late November until December 24 th. 7. Purchase portable projection screen. Da-lite model $ Purchase three (3) yellow structural firefighting helmets $900 Repairs: 1. Repair minor damage to the passenger side of engine 854. Side of truck was deeply scratched from a fallen tree during hurricane Sandy. (done) Motion by Commr Friemann, seconded by Commr Zuhoski to approve items 1-8 As stated, motion carried unanimously.

4 2012 Minutes of the CUTCHOGUE FIRE DISTRICT Page 4 of 5 : Rescue Captain Richard Hartmann took to the floor and discussed the CME program (Continuing Medical Education) and advised that new procedures are to be enforced to maintain license as an EMT. The department will have to appoint a Preceptor who will handle all the paperwork for the EMT s and Rescue Squad. It will become mandatory that the EMT s maintain proper records and currency for their license. Should a state inspector arrive at the firehouse and not find certifications up-to-date, he has the authority to suspend our Ambulance operations until the department is recertified. Individuals are to keep a copy of their license and the department should hold a copy. December 1 st is deadline to have the documents into the County with renewal by Dec. 31 st. Members must maintain CME currency, presently out of 30 EMT s only half have CME currency. Captain Hartmann said that his office should have more authority and be able to provide more training for our squad. The present Company Line officers have more authority than the Rescue Captain. EMT Pat Kaelin added a few of his thoughts and comments by mentioning the lack of response from some of our EMT s. He also went over the recertification program requirements. Chairman Friemann said that the Board would listen to all requests and to do a much as possible to maintain currency for the Rescue Squad and EMT s. Please keep the board informed.
