1 WESTMORELAND INTERMEDIATE UNIT BOAR OF DIRECTORS MINUTES February 27, 2018 Call to Order The regular meeting was called to order by President Dennis J. Rittenhouse at 7:09 p.m. in the Hanna s Town Room of the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, 102 Equity Drive, Greensburg, Pennsylvania followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call Present Gretchen Beveridge, Bill Feldbusch, Michele Fischer, Linda Leghart, Bill Leonard, Susan J. Mains, Sharon Mauck, Dennis J. Rittenhouse, John Sarnese, Paul Scheinert, Michelle Schmidt, Irvin W. Tantlinger, Lynna Thomas, Joseph L. Yorio. Absent Aaron J. Bialon, Robert Fusia, Aimee Love. Also in Attendance Dr. Jason A. Conway, Executive Director; Tim Hammill, Curriculum Services Director; Lynne Leu, Financial Services Director and Treasurer, I.U. Executive Session Executive Session was held immediately before the regular meeting from 6:30 p.m. until 7:05 p.m. to discuss legal and personnel matters. 2 Executive Director Report 1. PA Senate Appropriations Committee Hearing on PA Intermediate Units Dr. Conway had the opportunity to testify with other PAIU members. Video of the hearing can be viewed at 2. PAIU's at Work Statewide Newsletter Article about WIUeAcademy Tim Hammill reported that since WIU eacademy has partnered with IU 15, the number of courses has increased and the program now serves over 3,100 students. 3. Bark G Suite Service Tim Hammill reported we are working with Bark to put new components in school districts. Currently, three districts are piloting the program at no cost. Also, WPXI TV station interviewed Tim regarding Bark. This will be airing on Monday, March 5, Clairview School District Presentations Dr. Conway gave a shout out to Dr. Sciullo, Colleen Suchko, and all who have attended the local board meetings in support of Clairview School. 4 TIS Granted the administration permission to solicit bids for the construction and renovation of the WIU Auditorium area, upon review and approval of all bid documents by the administration and Solicitor. Curriculum Services CS Approved an Addendum to the eacademy Consortium Membership Agreement between the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit and the Jeannette City School District, effective February 23, 2018 and ending on June 30, E. Student Services SS Approved a Lease Agreement with Jeannette City School District for a maximum of four (4) classrooms, a storage area, an office, and the common area associated with same, located at the Jeannette McKee Elementary School for a term beginning on July 1, 2018 and ending on June 30, Motion: Mr. Sarnese F. School Board SB Approved Policy #808 - Food Service (Second Reading) SB Revised (in bold) the Nomination and Election Rules for the Election of Members to the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Board of Directors as follows: 8. To be valid and counted, each ballot must be signed by a School Director whose name appears on one of the mailing lists received from the member School Districts, and must be authenticated and must be received by the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Office on or before 4:00 o'clock P.M. of the first Monday in April of the election year, unless a Holiday, in which case the deadline is moved to 4:00 o'clock P.M. of the first Tuesday in April of the election year.
