(8-1; Van Laethem/Small, Perry opposed) Mrs. Hanson read UP into the record for Commission review and action. Staff Presentation: Mr. McKay stated that based on sound planning practices, Planning staff recommended that UP be DENIED as listed in the official agenda. 5 4 Chesapeake Planning Commission July 10, 2013 Public Hearing Minutes Damian Carr, 505 Madera Road, Chesapeake, Virginia, appeared before the Commission in opposition to UP representing himself. Rob Atwood, 505 Aguila Drive, Chesapeake, Virginia, appeared before the Commission in opposition to UP representing the Las Gaviotas Home Owners Association. Those who spoke in opposition stated that this was against the Land Use Plan and said they would like to see a recreation area for children. They said this was the wrong location and that a storage facility already existed across the street. COMMISSION VOTE: Commissioner Van Laethem moved that UP be DENIED stating it was not consistent with the Comprehensive Plan and as listed in the official agenda and recommended by staff. Commissioner Small seconded the motion. The motion was carried by a vote of 8-1. Commissioner Perry voted against the motion.
