Rob Atwood, 505 Aguila Drive, Chesapeake, Virginia, appeared before the Commission in opposition to UP representing the Las Gaviotas Home Owners Association. Those who spoke in opposition stated that this was against the Land Use Plan and said they would like to see a recreation area for children. They said this was the wrong location and that a storage facility already existed across the street. COMMISSION VOTE: Commissioner Van Laethem moved that UP be DENIED stating it was not consistent with the Comprehensive Plan and as listed in the official agenda and recommended by staff. Commissioner Small seconded the motion. The motion was carried by a vote of 8-1. Commissioner Perry voted against the motion.
