Clibborn (United Kingdom) for the rn'lish version, and Kr, Charvet (France) and Kr 0 Hudicourt (Haiti) for the French version. It was so ieciied. GLOWER ( a. Salvador) (Rapporteur of Committee IV - Agriculture) read his report. He explained that the final text of the report would contain a supplementary paragraph which would indicate that the phrase "of other inter-governmental organizations" in the first line of the operative part of the resolution dealing with coffee production and trade (E/CN,12/AC,21/4) should be understood to mean the Inter-American Economic and Social Council and the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences, /The CHAD«i

IV for the remarkable work done by that Committee. 6 I /CN.12/SR.50 (V) Page 6 RaPORT OF COH' ITT^ V (Intra-re^ional trade) (E/CN, 12/AC.22/2) At the Chairman'4 request, Kr, VILAS 30AS (Brazil), Rapporteur of Co'isi.ittee V, made his statement, Kr VILAS BOAS (Brazil) Rapporteur of Committee V, read his report (E/CN.12/AC,22/2), The CHAIRMAN put to the vote the draft resolution approved by Committee V (ii/cn,12/ac,22/1) relating to inter Latin-American trade. The draft resolution_ was_ a dopted unanimously^ The CHAliiMAN congratulated all the members of Committee V for the excellent work they had lone and for the outstanding spirit of co-operation they had shown, BRAZILIAN PROPOSAL RELATING TO THE RjiPOR? OF COMMITTEE II At the Chairman's request, Kr, LANOA (Cuba), First Vice-Chairman, took his place as Chairman. Kr, LODI (Brazil) remarked that the question of professional and technical training, which is of considerable importance to all the Latin- American countries, is within the nandato of Comittse II (economic development and technical assistance). He recalled that in Brazil, some ten years previously, some employers had spontaneously established a national industrial apprenticeship service (SiiMAI), in spite af what appeared to be unsurmountable obstacles. That service, which at present functioned in over one hundred businesses, permitted more than 40,000 young people to continue their apprenticeship in over 60 different professions. The expenses of the service were borne entirely by the employers, who considered that their financial contribution was the fulfilment of a social obligation. He proposed that these achievements should be noted by Committee II,, BARRETO (Feru) warmly supported this proposal,. ECCH^R (Uruguay) expressed his country's admiration for the remarkable work of professional training described by the Brazilian _. representative. Ho pointed out thrt SENA I generously grants scholarships to young people from othor Li-tin-American countries, notably from Uruguay, which allowed them to provide valuable sex-vices to the industrial life of, their countries at a later stage.
