Time: 9:03 9:06pm Will be attending a MTA (Michigan Township Association) educational session on Friday the 21 st. Robertson The township office lost one of their coworkers and that has been really difficult on the staff. ORDINANCE NO Z AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CALEDONIA [Application of Joel P. Kerstetter Rezoning to R-2 District, th Street] THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CALEDONIA ORDAINS: Section 1. 10 Charter Township of Caledonia Board of Trustees Resolution of Support Michigan Township s Participating Plan Grant Application Resolution R2016- WHEREAS the Caledonia Township Board of Trustees encourages the Fire Department to prioritize property conservation; and WHEREAS the Township Board recognizes and supports the International Fire Code, Section which states, Where required. Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes, the fire code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an approved location. The key box shall be of an approved type listed in accordance with UL 1037, and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required by the fire code official; and WHEREAS the Caledonia Township Fire Department has implemented the Knox-Box Rapid Entry System as a secure emergency access program; and WHEREAS the Caledonia Township Fire Department strongly recommends that all existing businesses in Caledonia Township purchase and install a Knox-Box ; and WHEREAS the Caledonia Township Fire Department requires Knox-Box installation on any new commercial construction or remodels; and WHEREAS the Township Board believes that the addition of seven Knox KeySecure Master Key Retention Systems would ensure that master keys would be kept secure and reduce Township liability and risk; and WHEREAS Caledonia Township has been a member of the Michigan Township s Participating Plan for 22 years; and WHEREAS the Township is seeking a grant contribution of $ NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Caledonia Township Board hereby supports submittal of an application to the Michigan Township s Participating Plan for a $ grant to help fund the purchase of seven Knox KeySecure Master Key Retention Systems. 20 Resolution No. R2016- CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CALEDONIA COUNTY OF KENT, MICHIGAN At a regular meeting of the Township Board of the Charter Township of Caledonia, held at the Caledonia Township Hall, 8196 Broadmoor Avenue SE, Caledonia, Michigan, on the 2nd day of November, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: ABSENT: The following preamble and resolution were offered by and seconded by. RESOLUTION APPROVING ANNUAL TOWNSHIP BUDGET FOR 2017 AND DETERMINING TENTATIVE PROPERTY TAX RATES FOR SUPPORT OF BUDGET WHEREAS, the Uniform Budgeting and Accounting Act, Public Act 2 of 1968, as amended by Public Act 621 of 1978, requires that the Township adopt an annual budget, after public hearing; WHEREAS, the Township Board has convened a public hearing on the proposed Charter Township of Caledonia budget for fiscal year 2016, after the publication of public notice as required by law; WHEREAS, the published notice of the Township Board public hearing on the annual budget stated that the Township property tax millage rates proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget would be the subject of the budget hearing;

21 Resolution No. R2016- WHEREAS, on August 7, 2012, the Township electorate approved by majority vote a six-year renewal of the Township s specially voted law enforcement and fire department millage, at the rate of 1.5 mils, but such rate being subject to Headlee Amendment reductions as required by law; and WHEREAS, on May 5, 2009, the Township electorate approved by majority vote a 21- year millage, at a rate of up to.3797 mill, to finance the cost of a new Township library, such millage being subject to reduction as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Township Board has reviewed the proposed annual budget for fiscal year 2016, has considered the appropriate rates of ad valorem property tax necessary to support the budget and has considered comments on these and related matters made at the public hearing; IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Township Board hereby adopts the Charter Township of Caledonia budget for fiscal year 2017, being the fiscal year commencing January 1, 2017 and ending December 31, The Township Board hereby tentatively approves the levy of, and shall collect, general as valorem property tax on all real and personal property within the Township upon the property tax assessment roll, except property exempt from taxation, at the rates indicated below, or at such reduced millage rates(s) as may be required by operation of law: Allocated operating millage mill Specially-voted law enforcement And Fire Department millage mills Specially-voted Library millage mill Total (subject to 2017 reductions by law) mills

22 Resolution No. R The Township ad valorem property tax rates stated above shall be subject to final determination and adjustment by the Township Board, following any Headlee Amendment reduction or such other reduction as may be required by law for the Township 2017 tax rates. 4. Township expenditures pursuant to the annual budget, any amendments in the budget, the transfer of funds thereunder and other matters pertaining to township financial operations pursuant to the budget shall be subject to applicable provisions of the Uniform Budgeting and Accounting Act.
