2 Travel is among the top 10 industries in 49 states and D.C. in terms of employment U.S. residents logged million person-trips* for business purposes in 2017, with 38% for meetings and events. International travel spending directly supported about 1.2 million U.S. jobs and $33.7 billion in wages Every 1% change in business travel spending, the US economy gains or loses 74,000 jobs, $5.5 billion in GDP, $3.3 billion in wages, and $1.3 billion in taxes

4 Promote the interest of the business traveler and the organization through advocacy on legislative issues and other government relations initiatives designed to maintain a transparent, competitive and frictionless business travel community

5 Review, Research and make recommendations on legislation and policies that impact the business travel community and help determine GBTA s legislative action

6 Champion Rules of the Road for Optimizing Business Travel Inform all of legislative priorities To educate and communicate legislative initiatives To act on all legislative policies deemed appropriated by the Board or Director of GBTA

7 Invite an elected official to speak at a Chapter meeting or host a Government Relations focused meeting with a representative from GBTA Appoint a liaison to the GBTA Government Relations Committee Fundraise for the Business Travel PAC! Achieve a minimum of 30% of Chapter members contributing PAC donations

14 License to Ride: REAL ID act establish minimum security standards for drivers license, permits and ID Cards issued in all states. As of Oct 1, 2020 : all federal agencies will only be able to accept REAL ID, US Passports, and enhanced Drivers Licenses as forms of ID, even when flying in the US TSA Pre-Check : enrolled in 2013, more that 45,000 members are set to expire between Dec 2018 and Feb Some renewals will require updates in person or new fingerprints.
