BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMITTEE ON RULES OF I 2 MINA 'TRElvTAI TRES NA LIHESLATURAN GUAHAN: 3 WHEREAS, the Iioilo International of Guam is a Filipino organization whose 4 ideals are to promote the "bayanihan" spirit and camaraderie between and among 5 llongos on Guam and throughout the United States; and 1

3 1 WHEREAS, the Iloilo International also strives to promote and maintain 2 social, civic, and cultural ties with Ilongos, as well as to encourage talented 3 individuals in the fields of education, science, sports, arts, and business; and 4 WHEREAS, the organization realizes that there is importance in preserving the 5 ethnic traditions, customs and history of the llongos, and in promoting the 6 development of cultural and social growth of our youth. In doing so, lloilo 7 International also promotes the principles of integrity, opportunity, establishment and 8 equal access to participate fully in the life of the community; and 9 WHEREAS, the vision of certain individuals from Iloilo came to reality when l 0 a group of llongos on Guam, led by Charter President Art 0. Salomes, organized and 11 established a nonprofit/non-sectarian civic association on January I, 2008; and i 2 WHEREAS, since the establishment of the Association, the Iloilo International 13 has participated in fundraisers and special events benefiting many charitable causes, 14 including a collection of donations for typhoon relief after the Typhoon Frank 15 calamity in 2008 and Typhoon Sendong in 2012; and 16 WHEREAS, other services and donations by the organization were collected 17 and distributed to Kama/en Karidat, the Saint Dominic Senior Care Center, Sanctuary 18 Inc., the World Youth Day Trip for Dededo, the sponsoring of a student to represent 19 Guam at a band competition in Korea, and various other civic activities benefiting the 20 beautification of Guam; and 21 WHEREAS, the majority of the members of Iloilo International recognize 22 Guam as their home, and one of the main objectives of lloilo International is to be 23 committed to preserving its cultural heritage, especially for the younger generation 24 who were either born or raised on the island of Guam or other parts of the United 25 States; and 2
