2 Palazzo della Minerva Library Palazzo Giustiniani The Senate Library, set up in 1848, makes available to scholars, researchers, students and the general public a bibliographic heritage comprising some 650,000 books, 3,500 periodicals and daily newspapers, both historical periodicals and running subscriptions, and numerous bibliographic, legislative and current affairs databases, as well as important Italian and foreign collections of acts of parliament and legislation, together with a large collection of Statutes of Italian municipalities, Guilds and other bodies of local importance from the Middle Ages to the late 17th century. events in the Library - July 05 June April 2006 "Library Open Day" guided visits of the Library on the occasion of the World Book and Copyright Day organized by UNE- SCO and the inauguration of the year of Turin World Book Capital with Rome (April 2006-April 2007) library statistics - July 05 June 06 15,000 requests for library materials 820 items of bibliographic information 1,400 registered users 12,200 library attendances 2,400 books borrowed 3,500 computer accesses 200 interlibrary loans Historical Archives The Historical Archives of the Senate inaugurated its main office in the Giustiniani Palace on 10 April It makes available documents produced or acquired by the Senate, also in digital form, and co-publishes sources and documents in collaboration with the publishing firms Bibliopolis, Il Mulino and Rubbettino. The books are on sale in all bookshops. The Historical Archives also gathers the personal collections of individual parliamentarians (the latest acquisitions include the De Martino and Bergamini archives). These events consist of prestigious cultural initiatives ranging from documentary exhibitions to art exhibitions. Palazzo delle Coppelle Bookshop Centre for Institutional Information and Documentation Centre for the Public The Bookshop Centre for Institutional Information and Documentation sells acts of parliament and other documents and publications published by the Senate and provides information regarding the activity of the Senate and its bodies. Numerous activities are performed in the Bookshop for the benefit of school children, including live broadcast of Senate sittings.
