MINUTES 3 The minutes of the Standing Committee Meeting held on were confirmed. BRANCH CONSTITUTIONS 4 The following Branch Constitutions were confirmed:- CAPE EASTERN BRANCH 4.1 Paragraph 5.2 was amended to read:- VERWELKOMING Die voorsitter het die lede verwelkom en die vergadering oop verklaar. NOTULE Die notule van die Dagbestuursvergadering gehou op word bekragtig. KONSTITUSIES VAN TAKKE Die volgende Tak Konstitusies word bekragtig:- OOSTELIKE KAAPTAK Councillor Representatives, Engineer Members, Honorary Members, Associate Members, Past Members and Affiliates of the Association situated or resident in the area of the Branch shall be entitled to attend meetings of the Branch, except where undertakings request a separate meeting for their representatives only. Paragraph 6.6 2/.. Paragraaf 6.6 2/..

2 Paragraph 6.6 was amended to read:- The quoram for a Branch meeting shall be fifteen members : Provided that representatives of at least ten member undertakings shall be present. Paragraph 6.12 was amended to read:- Engineer Members, Honorary Members, Associate Members, Past Members and Affiliates shall be notified and provided with an Agenda at least two weeks in advance of a date of a meeting of the Branch. It shall be the responsibility of the Engineer Members to notify Councillor Representatives of Member Undertakings of the meeting and to provide them with Agendas for the meeting. Add Paragraph 7 to read:- 7.0 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS An Executive Council Member nominated by the Branch shall report to the Branch on the activities of the Executive HIGHVELD BRANCH 4.2 HOeVELDTAK Section 3: the word "associated" must read "associate". Section 5 to be added as stated under item 4.1, 7.0 above. Paragraaf 4.7 word gewysig om te lees:- Die Grondwet van die Tak mag gewysig word deur 'n besluit van 'n vergadering waarop verteenwoordigers van nie minder nie as twee-derdes van die lidondernemings teenwoordig is, onderhewig aan bekragtiging deur die Dagbestuur van die VMEO. Paragraph 4.8 was amended to read:- The Secretary shall notify Engineer members, honorary and past members at least two weeks in advance of the date of a Branch meeting and supply them with an agenda for the meeting. It shall be the responsibility of Engineer members to advise Council representatives of the meeting. Paragraaf 4.8 word gewysig om te lees:- Ingenieurslede, erelede en voormalige lede word deur die Sekretaris skrifteli^ minstens twee weke voor die datum van die Takvergadering van sodanige ver gadering in kennis gestel en van "n agenda voorsien. UITVOERENDE RAADSVERRIGTINGE 'n Uitvoerende Raadslid genomineer deur die Tak sal aan die Tak rapporteer oor die aktiwiteite van die Uitvoerende Raad. NATAL BRANCH 4.4 NATALTAK Clause 7 to be added as stated under item 4.1, 7.0 on page 2. GOOD HOPE BRANCH 4.5 An amended Constitution had not been received from this Branch. GOEIE HOOPTAK n Gewysigde konstitusie is nog nie van die Tak ontvang nie. 9TH TECHNICAL MEETING MAY 1982 The contents of a letter with regard 5.1 to the Members' Forum, received from mr von Ahlften, were noted. It was reported that only two papers 5.2 were received for distribution. 9e TEGNIESE VERGADERING 3-4 MEI 1982 Kennis word geneem van die inhoud van "n brief ontvang van mnr von Ahlften t o v die Ledeforum. Verslag word gelewer dat net twee referate ontvang was vir verspreiding. 47TH CONVENTION PROCEEDINGS A letter received from Mr D C Palser pointing out that his printed paper as it appeared in the Proceedings, contained a large number of mistakes, errors and omissions, was discussed. Tremendous problems were experienced with the printers because of the technical nature of this paper. The Standing Committee resolved that the Secretary write to the members advising them of the fact that errors occurred in this paper and whether they wish to receive amended copies which could possibly be obtained from Mr Palser. Confirmation of this resolution will be sought at the Executive CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE WIRING OF PREMISES SABS The visits to the Branches by messrs Pretorius and Von Ahlften to explain the new regulations were confirmed. 47e KONVENSIE VERRIGTINGE 'n Brief ontvang van mnr D C Palser waarin hy dit uitwys dat sy referaat soos gedruk in die Verrigtinge, talle foute en weglatings bevat, word bespreek. Geweldige probleme was ervaar met die drukkers vanwee die tegniese aard van die referaat. Die Dagbestuur het besluit dat die Sekretaris aan die lede skryf om hulle in te lig oor die foute wat in die referaat verskyn en of hulle 'n gewysig de afskrif daarvan wil ontvang, wat moontlik deur mnr Palser beskikbaar gestel kan word. Bekragtiging van hierdie besluit sal by die Uitvoerende Raad verkry word. BEDRADINGSKODE SABS Die besoeke aan die Takke deur mnre Pretorius en Von Ahlften oor die nuwe regulasies word bekragtig. 8. 4/ /...

4 4 RECOMMENDATIONS COMMITTEE The Department of Manpower will be invited to nominate a representative on this Committee. 8 AANBEVELINGSKOMITEE Die Departement van Mannekrag sal genooi word om 'n verteenwoordiger op hierdie Komitee te benoem. 46TH MEETING IEC : MONTREUX It was resolved that the report of Mr Dawson be published in the Technical Meeting Proceedings. 46e VERGADERING IEK : MONTREUX Dit word besluit dat die verslag van mnr Dawson in die Tegniese Vergadering Verrigtinge gepubliseer word. 47TH MEETING IEC : RIO Due to the non-availability of visas to S A delegates it was recommended that the President may attend the 1983 Meeting. INSTITUTE OF MUNICIPAL TREASURERS 11 AND ACCOUNTANTS : 1982 CONFERENCE It was resolved that Mr Loubser will represent the AMEU at this Conference. INSTITUTE OF MUNICIPAL ENGINEERS : CONFERENCE Mr Fraser will represent the AMEU at this Conference. S A NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE 13 WORLD ENERGY CONFERENCE The contents of a letter received from this secretariat were noted. It is recommended that Mr Barnard be nominated as alternate to Mr Palser on this Committee. GRATIUITIES TO BRANCH SECRETARIES 14 This matter is referred to the Executive SATEPSA 15 The matter of standardization will be reported to at the Executive MEMBERS COMMENTS 16 This matter will be placed on the Agenda of the Executive 47e VERGADERING IEK : RIO 1982 Vanwee die nie-beskikbaarheid van visas vir S A afgevaardigdes word aanbeveel dat die President die 1983 Vergadering sal bywoon. INSTITUUT VAN MUNISIPALE TESOURIERS EN REKENMEESTERS : 1982 KONFERENSIE Dit word besluit dat mnr Loubser die VMEO by die Konferensie sal verteenwoordig. INSTITUUT VAN MUNISIPALE INGENIEURS : 1982 KONFERENSIE Mnr Fraser sal die VMEO verteenwoordig by die Konferensie. S A NASIONALE KOMITEE VAN DIE WeRELD-ENERGIE KONFERENSIE Kennis word geneem van die inhoud van n skrywe wat van die sekretariaat ontvang was. Dit word aanbeveel dat mnr Barnard genomineer word as alternatief vir mnr Palser op die Komitee. GRATIFIKASIES AAN TAKSEKRETARISSE Hierdie saak word verwys na die Uitvoerende Raad. SATEKG Die aangeleentheid van standaardisasie sal oor gerapporteer word by die Uitvoerende Raad. KOMMENTAAR VAN LEDE Hierdie saak sal op die agenda van die Uitvoerende Raad geplaas word. 5/... 5/...

5 NEXT STANDING COMMITTEE MEETING The next meeting of the Standing Committee will be held on Friday 27th August VOLGENDE DAGBESTUURSVERGADERING Die volgende Dagbestuursvergadering sal gehou word op Vrydag 27 Augustus 1982, CLOSURE The meeting terminated at 12h VERDAGING Die vergadering het om 12h30 gesluit.
