1 The of the Evesham Township Council was called to order by Mayor Brown at 5:30p.m. The meeting was held in the Meeting Room of the Evesham Township Municipal Complex at 984 Tuckerton Road, Marlton, NJ Flag Salute. Mayor Brown announced that the meeting was being held in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act. Proper notification has been given to the two official newspapers, The Central Record and The Burlington County Times, by publishing same on January 16, 2014 and January 9, 2014, respectively, and also posted in the Municipal Building on January 6, 2014, at least 48 hours in advance of this meeting. Proper notification has also been given to any person so requesting same. 2 Recorded Vote: AYE: All Ayes. NAY: XXX Council continued in open session at 6:38.m. Mayor Brown introduced the Township Professionals to those in attendance. Mayor Brown announced that he would not be pursuing the republican nomination for the Third Congressional District but will instead seek reelection as Mayor of Evesham Township, along with the councilmembers on his team up for reelection. Mayor Brown added that this was a decision made with his family and that he is committed to the Evesham Township community. Mayor Brown also stated that there are projects that he would like to see completed during his term as Mayor, which include the new Evesham Recreation Center sports complex, the redevelopment project, and improvements to the road infrastructure. Mayor Brown thanked those in attendance for their support and asked that they continue to support him and his council running mates in the November election. PROCLAMATIONS Whole Foods Market Marlton All Star Award Mayor Brown presented representatives from Whole Foods Market of Marlton with a Proclamation for receiving the All Star Award, an achievement for ranking as number one store in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Mayor Brown read the Proclamation into record and commented that Council appreciates great businesses in the community and want to showcase those businesses that deliver superior service. Mayor Brown revealed to the audience that his daughter Mackenzie Brown just lost her first tooth eating a cookie provided by Whole Foods Market. Sustainable Jersey Bronze Certification Mayor Brown presented Ila Vassallo and members of the Environmental Commission with a Proclamation for receiving Bronze Certification in the Sustainable Jersey program. Mayor Brown read the Proclamation into record and Ms. Vassallo briefly

3 described the program and the community efforts required to attain this certification. Marlton Recreation Council s Cross Country Team - 8th Place at the AAU National Championship Mayor Brown read the Proclamation into record and congratulated the Marlton Recreation Council s Cross Country Team on their tremendous efforts at the AAU National Championship. Mayor Brown requested that the coach, Bill Shea, introduce the members of the team and say a few words about how the team s road lead to the championship. J. Harold Van Zant Elementary School 5 th Grade Student Government Mayor Brown read the Proclamation into record and asked the students to introduce themselves. Mayor Brown congratulated the students on their election to office and asked if they have achieved any accomplishments during their term in student government. The students stated that during the month of February they would be raising funds to support cancer awareness. Robert B. Jaggard Elementary School 5 th Grade Student Government Mayor Brown read the Proclamation into record and asked the students to introduce themselves. Mayor Brown congratulated the students on their election to office and Mrs. Stoeckle, student council coordinator, spoke briefly on the students accomplishments and their activities for charities. Richard L. Rice Elementary School 5 th Grade Student Government Mayor Brown announced that Norma DeSmedt, Principal of Rice Elementary School, will be retiring at the end of the school year and thanked her for her years of service to the children. Mayor Brown read the Proclamation into record and asked the students to introduce themselves. Mayor Brown congratulated the students on their election to office and asked that they give a brief explanation of their activities on student government. 4 On motion by Councilwoman Hackman, seconded by Deputy Mayor D Andrea, it was moved to approve the above listed minutes. Police Chief Summary on Township Happenings Police Chief Chew thanked Council for affording him the opportunity to showcase the Evesham Township Police Department. Chief Chew highlighted the decreases in crime between 2012 and 2013 and explained the police department s prevention tactics. Chief Chew also reviewed the DDACTS system, Data Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety Zone, which uses traffic data to establish efficient methods for law enforcement resources. Deputy Mayor D Andrea stated that this message should be communicated to the residents through Facebook and social media. Mayor Brown asked Chief Chew how Council could be more supportive toward crime prevention. Discussion continued on methods that could be implemented. MOTION Review of 2014 Fire District Budget (Board Member Compensation Only) On motion by Councilman DiEnna, seconded by Councilwoman Hackman, it was moved to in accordance with N.J.S.A 40A:14-88 acknowledge that the Township Council of the Township of Evesham has reviewed the compensation of the Board of Fire Commissioners as set forth in their proposed 2014 Budget which is scheduled to be voted upon by the public on February 15, ORDINANCES SECOND READING Ordinance No An Ordinance of the Township of Evesham Amending Chapter 62 Subdivision and Site Plan Design Standard

COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilman Zeuli praised Chief Chew on a great presentation. Councilman DiEnna commented that he attended the recent Dare Graduation and was touched by the humanity of Officer Kinner and the other contributors to the graduation ceremony. He also

9 commented that the veteran s pictures will be rehung in the lobby and that the Main and Locust road improvements are in the works. Councilman DiEnna asked Community Development Director Jamanow what the status was at the former Genuardi s Market. Ms. Jamanow commented that Rastelli s Market is in the process of obtaining permits for two-thirds of the building, the other onethird is under review for other potential uses. Deputy Mayor D Andrea echoed the praises on Chief Chew s presentation and commented that the Dare Graduation was phenomenal. In addition, he commended Deputy Manager of Operations Kohl and the Public Works Department, on the fantastic job performed in removing the snow from the Township and County roadways. Mayor Brown commented that he received numerous voice and s from residents complimenting the great job performed on the roads during the recent snow storms. Mayor Brown requested that the Public Works Department be presented with a plaque, at the next evening Council Meeting, for a job well done.
