QUORUM DETERMINATION AND CALL TO ORDER MINUTES Page 3 Members and guests introduced themselves and the quorum requirements were met for the, Air-Cooled and Evaporative Condensers (ACEC) Subsection, Liquid to Refrigerant Heat Exchangers and Liquid Receivers (LRHE&LR) Subsection, and Unit Coolers (UC) Subsection. The quorum requirement was not met for the Liquid to Liquid Heat Exchangers (LLHE) Subsection. The meeting was called to order at 9:24 a.m. 2. ANTITRUST POLICY STATEMENT AHRI staff read AHRI Antitrust Policy Statement briefly reminding meeting participants of the requirements of AHRI s Antitrust Guidelines. 3. APPROVAL OF THE 13 APRIL 2011 MEETING MINUTES The section unanimously: VOTED: TO APPROVE THE 13 APRIL 2011 MEETING MINUTES. 4. HIGHLIGHTS FROM AHRI NEED-TO-KNOW SESSION AHRI staff provided a brief report on the highlights from the Need-to-Know Session held Sunday evening. Mr. Kaiser followed with a brief report on some highlights from the Board of Directors meeting. AHRI staff informed members of the Rees Scholarship Foundation. Staff noted that donations to the Foundation are tax deductible and the Foundation promotes new talent in the industry. Staff reported that in 2011, a scholarship was awarded to each eligible candidate. Members are requested to notify AHRI if they are interested in donating. 5. MEMBERSHIP ACTIVITIES AHRI staff noted that there were currently 28 member companies in the IRHT Section and asked to be contacted if members had any suggestions for reaching other potential members for this section. 6. CERTIFICATION ACTIVITIES A. Certification Program Participants

4 Page 4 AHRI staff reported that there are currently eight (8) participants in the LLHE Certification Program. 7. STANDARDS ACTIVITIES A. AHRI Standards 1270 (I-P)-2011 & 1271 (SI)-2011, Seismic Qualification of HVACR Equipment Staff reported that Proposed AHRI Standards 1270P (I-P) & 1271P (SI), Seismic Qualification of HVACR Equipment have been approved and published for the first time. They are downloadable for free from AHRI s website. The Seismic Subcommittee will be starting revisions to the standards in early 2012 to include more AHRI products in the scope of the standards. B. Wind Restraint Standard An AHRI Task Force has been formed to develop Proposed AHRI 1310P, Wind Load Design of HVACR Equipment. This standard will cover all AHRI products that are exposed to the wind. The Task Force has had trouble taking the wind codes from Florida and turning them into AHRI standard language. The group has identified a need for consulting help to develop the standard. The Section was notified that a request for proposal for consulting help will be developed and the Section will have the opportunity to vote on the inclusion of their products in the scope of the standard via letter ballot. All sections that vote to contribute will assist with an equal share of the cost. C. Status of revised AHRI Standard , Performance Rating of Remote Mechanical-Draft Evaporatively-Cooled Condensers AHRI staff reported that AHRI Standard 490 was converted into dual standards and the ACEC Engineering Committee (EC) recently completed revising the Standard. The Standard was approved by the ACEC EC on 5 October 2011 and subsequently approved by the ACEC Subsection on 11 November The Cooling Standards Subcommittee will review AHRI Standard 490 at its meeting on December D. Status of AHRI Standard , Liquid to Liquid Heat Exchangers AHRI staff reported that AHRI Standard 400 is currently under revision by the LLHE EC. So far, the LLHE EC has reviewed the temperature tolerances and data acquisition methods. The goal is to complete revision by end of first quarter of 2012.

Status of AHRI Standard , Water-Cooled Refrigerant Condensers, Remote Type AHRI staff reported that AHRI Standard 450 is current and the next scheduled review is in ACTION: AHRI STAFF TO SCHEDULE A LRHE&LR EC MEETING TO BEGIN REVISING AHRI STANDARD ). Status of AHRI Standard , Performance Rating of Desuperheater/Water Heaters AHRI staff reported that the LRHE&LR EC has begun revising AHRI Standard 470 and has chosen to convert the Standard into dual standards SI and I-P. The goal is to complete revision by end of first quarter of ). Status of AHRI Standard , Remote Type Refrigerant- Cooled Liquid Coolers AHRI staff reported that AHRI Standard 480 is current and the next scheduled review is in ACTION: AHRI STAFF TO SCHEDULE A LRHE&LR EC MEETING TO BEGIN REVISING AHRI STANDARD 480. F. Status of AHRI Standard , Performance Rating of Forced- Circulation Free-Delivery Unit Coolers for Refrigeration AHRI staff reported that AHRI Standard 420 is current and the next scheduled review is in ASHRAE ACTIVITIES A. ASHRAE Technical Committee (TC) 8.5, Liquid to Refrigerant Heat Exchangers Mr. Kaiser reported that a multi-disciplinary committee is forming to address alternate refrigerant low GWP projects.

6 Page 6 Mr. Kaiser informed the Section on the status of ASHRAE Project 1345 on fouling of brazed plate heat exchangers. He noted that the study has been completed by Oklahoma State University. The report is finished but has not yet been approved. Mr. Kaiser informed the Section on the status of ASHRAE Project 1316 on the effects of flooded evaporator tube pitch. He reported that the study has been completed and the report has been approved. B. ASHRAE TC 8.4, Air to Refrigerant Heat Exchangers AHRI staff reported that TC 8.4 met in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January 2011 to discuss ASHRAE Standard 33. Revisions were made and approved via letter ballot and the changes underwent public review. The revised Standard was published in October AHRI staff reported that TC 8.4 met in June 2011 in Montreal to discuss ASHRAE Standard 25. The Standard underwent a major rewrite to include verbiage from AHRI Standard 420. TC 8.4 meetings will be scheduled before the January 2012 ASHRAE meetings and work on ASHRAE Standard 25 will continue during the meetings in Chicago in January AHRI staff reported that work on ASHRAE Standard 20 is progressing and a first draft is expected to be completed in one (1) year. C. ASHRAE SPC 181, LLHE Method of Test (MOT) Mr. Kaiser reported that SPC 181 is continuing to develop the LLHE MOT. He noted that UA calculations will be added to the MOT and the format is similar to ASHRAE Standard 22 and 24. Uncertainty calculations will be included in the MOTs and a public draft is expected after ASHRAE summer meetings in D. Reports from other ASHRAE Committees Mr. Burgett provided a report to the Section on the activities of ASHRAE SPC STATISTICAL ACTIVITIES A. AHRI Statistical Data Release and Distribution

7 Page 7 AHRI staff reported that on 15 September 2011, the General Statistics Committee discussed and approved a policy regarding the release and distribution of statistical data as it pertains to company employees, company sales agents, and state and federal government entities. Official representatives of statistical program participants will be required to sign an agreement acknowledging their understanding and acceptance of this policy. B. Information on New Rules for Timely Reporting for Statistical Reports AHRI staff also reported that the General Statistics Committee reaffirmed the rules for timely reporting of statistical data which will be set forth in a document for participating members to sign acknowledging their understanding and acceptance of these new rules. 10. REGULATORY ACTIVITIES DOE Rulemaking on Walk-In Coolers and Freezers AHRI staff reported that the DOE final rule on test procedures was published on 15 April It adopts AHRI Standard 1250, Performance Rating of Walk-In Coolers and Freezers, for mechanical systems. The rule is effective 12 October 2011 and compliance is voluntary. AHRI staff reported that a DOE notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) on energy conservation standards is expected in December The final rule is expected in first quarter of AHRI staff noted that this rule applies to systems, not components. A member inquired about the status of the rulemaking on Alternative Efficiency Determination Method (AEDM). AHRI staff replied that the start of a rulemaking on this issue was expected before this meeting; however, it has not yet been initiated. 11. INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS AHRI staff recognized Mr. Kaiser for his time and dedication to the and presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation. Mr. Kaiser announced Mr. Lindahl and Mr. Hegg as the new Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively, of the effective until November OTHER BUSINESS

DATE AND PLACE OF NEXT MEETING The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Section will be held during the 2012 AHRI Spring Meeting from 9 11 May 2012 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. 14. EXECUTIVE SESSION Mr. Kaiser reported that the Unit Coolers and LLHE Executive Sessions would follow immediately after the Open Session. Executive Session materials were provided to members only. 15.
