For the last 16 years, Green London Assembly members have been working for Londoners. On 5th May, you can vote for Green Assembly members. They will question and check the Mayor s work. Please vote Green and we ll make sure the new Mayor does a good job for London.

3 Sian Berry is a candidate for the Green Party in the election to be the next Mayor of London. Sian Berry says: London is a great city. The people who live in London make it a great place to live. I ve lived in London for a long time. The Green Party has lots of good ideas to make living in London even better. We want to make sure what City Hall does matches what people in London think. We think it is too expensive to buy a house in London, and that many people can t afford to rent here. As Mayor, Sian will build more houses people can afford, and make sure that rent prices stop going up. She will set up a Renters Union so that people can get together and help each other with housing problems and persuade the government make things better. Sian wants to make transport costs fair. Some people pay more depending on where they live and work in London.

4 As Mayor, Sian will make sure that every journey on the bus, tube or train costs the same. She will change the ticket system so that you do not have to pay extra if you switch between buses and trains. Too many cars and trucks make the air in London hard to breathe. Air pollution is making people ill. We need to stop this. As Mayor, Sian has a plan to reduce air pollution. She will make sure people can drive cleaner cars and trucks. She will help people walk and cycle. She won t agree to new runways at any London airport. Only the Green Party will cut the air pollution problem.

6 So How Do I Vote? First, you must be registered to vote. You can register to vote online at gov.uk/register-to-vote Monday 18th April 2016 is the last day you can do this. 7 The orange ballot paper is to elect a London Assembly member to represent the whole of London. If you want Green members on the London Assembly, it s really important to vote Green on the orange ballot paper. You have 1 vote on this paper. Mark it with an X. The pink ballot paper is to elect the Mayor. You have a first choice and second choice vote. If your first choice for Mayor does not win, then your vote goes to your second choice for Mayor instead. The yellow ballot paper is to elect a London Assembly member for your local area. You have 1 vote on this paper. Mark it with an X. Fold the papers and put them into the ballot box. If you cannot get to the polling station, you can apply to vote by post. This is called a postal vote. You can also arrange for someone to vote on your behalf. This is called voting by proxy. You need to apply in advance for a postal vote or proxy vote. Contact your local council to find out how.
