1 Building the World Parliament 2017 International Conference featuring the Earth Constitution and Building the World Parliament under its authority November 8, 9, and 10, 2017 O.P. Jindal Global University University Campus: Sonipat Narela Road, Near Jagdishpur Village, Sonipat, Haryana , India. Co-Sponsors: World Constitution and Parliament Assoc. (WCPA) and Jindal Global University (JGU) Conference webpage: All sessions are plenary and 30 minutes long in T3 Global Auditorium (2 nd Floor) 1
2 Goals of this Conference Focus on building the World Parliament under the authority of the Earth Constitution The Earth Constitution is translated into many languages, has been published in many editions, and is found on many websites such as: It serves as a universal model and blueprint for a transformed World System Our conference goals are to: 1. Understand the absolute need for the world to unite spiritually, conceptually, and politically. 2. Understand the role of the Earth Constitution in uniting the world in these ways. 3. Understand basic structure and functioning of the Earth Constitution. 4. Understand why the World Parliament requires the framework of the Constitution and make plans for its actualization. 5. Demonstrate the need to promote "Value Based Universal Education System" for the development of "Holistic Global Society." 6. Consider measures to get rid of the lethal arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and also taking steps to redirect the huge expenditure incurred for deploying Military / Police Personnel on a massive scale, towards human development. In addition, to create an environmentally sustainable world civilization. Resource persons: Participants in the Conference who have long worked for the Earth Constitution and who might serve as resource persons if you have questions (in alphabetical order): Swami Agnivesh, Prof. Dr. Santinath Chattopadhyay, Dr. Sudipto Chattopadhyay, Ms. Zaklina Dimovska, Dr. Dauji Gupta, Guruji Arun Kumar, Dr. Glen T. Martin, Sri E. P. Menon, Mr. Amit Paul. 2
3 Conference Theme Quotes There can be no doubt that world law is bound to come soon, whether by coercion or by peaceful agreement. No other effective defense exists against the modern methods of mass destruction. Should man misuse science and engineering in the service of selfish passion, our civilization is doomed. The nation-state is no longer capable of adequately protecting its citizens; to increase the military strength of a nation no longer guarantees its security. Albert Einstein (1947) While the Indian National Congress must primarily be concerned with independence and defense of India in this hour of danger, the Committee is of the opinion that the future peace, security, and ordered progress of the world demand a world federation of free nations, and on no other basis can the problems of the modern world be solved. Such a world federation would ensure the freedom of its constituent nations, the prevention of aggression and exploitation by one nation over another, the protection of national ministries, the advancement of all backward areas and peoples, and the pooling of the world s resources for the common good of all. Mahatma Gandhi (1942) And so we have to labor and work, and work hard, to give reality to our dreams. Those dreams are for India, but they are also for the world, for all nations and peoples are too closely knit together today for any one of them to imagine they can live apart. Peace is said to be indivisible, so is freedom, so is prosperity now, and so also is disaster in this One World that can no longer be split into isolated fragments. Jawaharlal Nehru (1947) WCPA Recognitions and Thanks to Sponsors Our sincere thanks to Jindal Global University for hosting this conference: Jindal has offered local hospitality and complementary guest rooms for conference participants. In particular, we wish to thank Jindal Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Y.S.R. Murthy, who has been our key contact person and help throughout the process of organizing this conference. Second, our sincere thanks to Swami Agnivesh who made it possible to arrange this conference is the space of only three months and opened up the opportunities to make it happen. Third, our sincere thanks to Sri Ramanuja Mission Trust for printing the book, Our Common Future, and shipping it to the conference venue. Last but not least, thanks very much to Dr. Patricia Murphy for her work in reviewing conference paper submissions, and to Ms. Becky Galdo for organizing the lodging for guests. 3
