He told that Maoist violence is more dangerous to country's peace and security than violence by any other organization. He strongly criticized Chhattisgarh government's move to sell liquor and advocated for prohibition in the state. He also talked against raising of salary of MLAs. He said that budget allocation of the govt. can change face of the society. However, today youth is unaware what are the plans of government for upcoming days. He said that biggest problem in Chattisgarh is unemployment and priority should be given to provide jobs to the people in the state. 6 SHRI. AVINASH DHARMADHIKARI Designation:-Former IAS officer Topic: India's Nuclear Diplomacy Date: 3rd January 2017 Warm Welcome and Felicitation of eminent guest Shri. Avinash Dharmadhikari. Spoke on India's advent in the nuclear club after years of planning and thoughtfulness. He said India's record in nuclear non-proliferation is impeccable and hence India deserved a rightful place in the nuclear club. He said India-US nuclear deal is one of the greatest achievement of India post-independence although its follow up has not been very prompt and encouraging. He asserted that India will, sooner or later, become member of NSG as well as Security Council of UN. KUMAR SAPTARSHI Designation:-President of Yuvak Kranti Dal (Yukrand) and Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Topic: Leadership Skills of Mahatma Gandhiji Date: 4th October 2016 Dr. Saptarshi explained the phenomenon of people's movements, i.e. Jan-Andolan, and its uniqueness of being Indian. The true jan-andolan has to follow Gandhiji's description of 5 phases of Satyagrah. Dr. Saptarshi talked about his own experiences being in the midst of several struggles wherein he promised 100% success without a single human casualty. Each time he emerged successful due to inspiration he derived from Gandhi's life. PANDURANG BALKAWADE Designation:-Eminent Historian Topic: Leadership skills of Shivaji Maharaj Date: 5th October 2016 Warm Welcome and Felicitation of Eminent Guest Shri. Pandurang Balkawade. Explained from 12th century to 17th century social, economically. Political, cultural situations. It gave exact situation before Shivaji Maharaj era to all students. Explained traits of Shivaji Maharaj from Administration, War strategy, Agriculture, taxation policies, Ethics etc. How Shivaji Maharaj working style is necessary in 21st Century. He elaborated how Shivaji Maharaj handled different situations.
10 SHRI. MANI SHANKAR AIYAR Designation:-Former Union Minister Topic: Panchayati Raj, 2) India Pakistan Relations Date: 22nd & 23rd Aug, 2016 He spoke on How panchayat raj system evolved in India. During the Constitution making process, it was Gandhi's wish to include a formulation on Panchayati Raj in the Constitution of India. After 1957, Nehru made concerted efforts to create responsive grass-root machinery for better implementation of government initiatives and programmes. However, it was Rajiv Gandhi's government, followed by P V Narsinha Rao's government that Constitution was amended to make the Panchayati Raj as integral and mandatory part of the Constitution. He spoke on necessity of cordial relationship between India and Pakistan. He has elaborated his own experience of an officer at the Indian consulate in Karachi for 4 years. He outlined the different social groups within Pakistan and their approach towards India. SMT. MARGARET ALVA Designation:-Former Governor and Former Union Minister Topic: Changing Face of Indian Democracy Date: 19th August 2016 She spoke on her political journey since beginning, which is entwined with development of India's political system. She explained the work she did for her Lok Sabha constituency and the reasons for her victories and defeats in electrol politics. Smt. Margaret Alva with Prof. Dr. S. S. 11 DR. BHARATKUMAR RAUT Designation:-Former MP, Rajya Sabha Topic: Interface between media and politics Date: 15th August 2016 Warm Welcome and Felicitation of eminent guest Dr. Bharatkumar Raut. Spoke in detail on the interface between media and politics. He spoke about ideal work ethics for a politician, how they should develop a cordial working relationship with the media, avoid controversies, be a good listener for being a good orator. He stressed on having a balanced opinion on issues, the necessity of maintaining a dialogue at all times even with ones adversaries and being humble, honest and punctual in public life. He spoke about his association with Shiv Sena, his experiences as a Member of Parliament, the firmness in decision making of Late Hon. Balasaheb Thackeray. Dr. Bharatkumar Raut with Prof. Dr. S. S. AIR MARSHAL BHUSHAN GOKHALE Designation:-Former Vice Chief of Air Staff Topic: National Security Date: 9th August 2016 Warm Welcome and Felicitation of Eminent Guest Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale. Explained about threats from cyber war, internal instability and other non-conventional ways of war in the future. Military Date: 5th August 2016 Discussed about the Challenges to the Indian Democracy, change in self as politician (Ethics/ Politician) and politics Vs. Military. Capt. Karnik very well explained the situation in Kashmir DR. NARENDRA JADHAV Designation:-MP, Rajya Sabha, Former Member, Planning Commission, Topic: Chairperson on Committee for writing History of RBI Economics and Politics of GST Date: 5th August 2016 He spoke about the necessity for GST, the historic importance of having the Bill passed in both the houses, how it would be a game changer and one of the biggest reforms since the 1991 Economic Reforms. He explained in detail the stages, changes and deliberations through which the Bill had to go before it saw the light of the day. The impact it would have on net saving of taxes was also thrown light upon. Hon. Jadhav Sir also spoke how a lot of work still remains to be done, benefits of GST for bringing in FDI, shifting from a supplier end tax regime to a consumption driven tax regime, avoidance of double and multiple taxation etc.
