21 BUILDING THE CAPACITIES OF THE PEOPLE AND ALLOWING THEM TO STAND ON THEIR OWN. In 2006, the leaders of Lantad came up with their Barangay Peace & Development Plan/Sitio Development Plan upon which all programs shall be anchored.
22 THE LANTAD MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE The LMPC which was registered with the CDA on Dec 2007 enjoys the support of the community. The cooperative now serves as an added vehicle for socio-economic growth for all the members of the community. LMPC MEETING

THIS WAY, THE TRIBAL COUNCIL IS ASSURED THAT THEIR SELF GOVERNANCE MECHANISM WILL STILL BE RESPECTED, ALONG SIDE WITH THE USUAL BARANGAY/SITIO SET-UP.

THE PURPOSE WAS TO FACILITATE COMMUNITY LEVEL DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING LOCAL GOVERNANCE, BARANGAY PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT SITUATIONER/PLANS, AND PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVES.

Babiera, was named as the co-chair of the Provincial Peace and Order Council on January 28, 2009, emphasizing shared executive-legislative responsibilities and functions in peace and development. Balay Mindanaw was invited as Vice-Chair of the PPOC on January 28, 2009, emphasizing the critical role of the civil society organizations (CSOS) in development and peace building.

38 The Lantad experience has taught us that nothing is impossible. Peace can be achieved not through force, but by bringing the government closer to the people. The upgraded Misamis Oriental PPOC served as an effective vehicle in addressing the root causes of insurgency thru improved teamwork with all levels of government, the churches and the CSOs.
