2 Kildare County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No 44 of 2004) as amended, hereby makes the following Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws in respect of particular roads in the housing estates described herein within the administrative area of County Kildare. 1. These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits)(County of Kildare) Bye-Laws (Housing Estates 30kph). 2. These Bye-Laws shall come into operation on the 12 th day of March In these Bye-Laws: the Act of 1961 means the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No 24 of 1961) the Act of 1993 means the Road Traffic Act 1993 (No 14 of 1993) the Act of 1994 means the Road Traffic Act 1994 (No 7 of 1994) Act of 2001 means the Local Government Act 2001 the Act of 2004 means the Road Traffic Act 2004 (no. 44 of 2004) the Act of 2010 means the Road Traffic Act 2010 (no. 25 of 2010) administrative area has the meaning assigned to it by the Act of 2001 built-up-area means the area of a city, a borough or a town within the meaning of the Local Government Act 2001 commissioner means the commissioner of the Garda Siochana distance means distance as measured along the centre line of a road local road regional road national road and motorway have the meaning assigned to them respectively, in the Roads Act Minister means Minister for Transport road means a public road and includes a motorway speed limit applies to a road in both directions unless specified otherwise. 4. The following special speed limit of thirty (30) kilometres per hour shall be the speed limits for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads where referred to in these Bye-Laws. Page 2

3 5. The provisions of the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (Co. Kildare) Bye-Laws 2011 and subsequent amendments to those Bye-Laws insofar as they apply to any of the roads or parts thereof referred to in the schedule to these Bye-Laws are hereby revoked insofar as they relate to the said roads or parts thereof with effect from the date on which these Bye-Laws come into effect. 4 SCHEDULE 30km/h shall be the special speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on those public roads in the County of Kildare shown indicatively on drawings E3700 (A) to E3700 (T) coloured BLUE and as specified here under. Page 4

6 Celbridge/Leixlip Municipal District 1. Celbridge (Maps: E3700 (A) & E3700 (B)) All public roads in the following estates, listed below, that are shaded blue and shown indicatively on the accompanying maps: i) Castle Village Estate from its junction with L1022 to the end of the estate road inclusive of any loop roads, cul-de-sac sideroads and laneways within the estate (i.e. those other than private access roadways/driveways, within the curtilage of each dwelling). ii) Abbey Farm Estate from its junction with R403 to the end of the estate road inclusive of any loop roads, cul-de-sac sideroads and laneways within the estate (i.e. those other than private access roadways/driveways, within the curtilage of each dwelling). 2. Leixlip (maps: E3700 (C), E3700 (D), E3700(E) & E3700 (F)) All public roads in the following estates, listed below, that are shaded blue and shown indicatively on the accompanying maps: i) Ryevale Lawns Estate from its junction with R148 to the end of the estate road inclusive of any loop roads, cul-de-sac sideroads and laneways within the estate (i.e. those other than private access roadways/driveways, within the curtilage of each dwelling). Newbridge (Maps: E3700 (G), E3700 (H)) All public roads in the following estates, listed below, that are shaded blue and shown indicatively on the accompanying maps: i) The following estates in Liffey Hall (The Walk, The Court, The Heath, The Avenue & The Downs) from the junction with the L2003 to the end of the estate road inclusive of any loop roads, cul-de-sac sideroads and laneways within the estate (i.e. those other than private access roadways/driveways, within the curtilage of each dwelling). ii) Standhouse Lawns Estate from the junction with L7037 to the end of the 2. Naas (Map: E3700 (P) & E3700 (Q)) All public roads in the following estates, listed below, that are shaded blue and shown indicatively on the accompanying maps: i) The following grouping of estates in Naas (Sarto Park, Sarto Road, St Davids Tce. Artisan Cottages/Old Caragh road, Our Lady s place, Pacelli road, St Gabriel s Place Corbally Court, St Martin s Avenue) from the junctions with Newbridge Road to the end of the estate roads inclusive of any loop roads, cul-de-sac sideroads and laneways within the estate. (i.e. those other than private access roadways/driveways, within the curtilage of each dwelling). ii) Rathasker Heights and Carraig Oscair Estate from its junction with Kilcullen Road to the end of the estate road inclusive of any loop roads, cul-de-sac sideroads and laneways within the estate.
