4 Getting started This form is for BRP replacement applications. How long it takes you to complete the application will depend on your particular situation. You will be able to save your application and come back to it at another time if you need to (click Return to this application later ). If you are inactive for 25 minutes you will be automatically logged out. Answer each question fully and truthfully. Failure to declare something on your form will be seen by UKVI as deception, and will result in this application (and possibly future applications) being refused. Providing the correct information will not automatically lead to a refusal. Not every question is covered in this guide. 6 1. Start: Your location Confirm you are currently in the UK This form and guide is only for people applying to replace their BRP within the UK. Immigration adviser Answer No to having an immigration advisor, unless you are receiving advice from a registered Immigration Adviser outside of the University Page 6

7 Register your Enter a valid address and create a secure but memorable password. You will be ed a link to log back into your account. Keep this safe to avoid having to start your form all over again! Page 7

8 2. Application: Your name Answer the questions about your names, exactly as they appear on your passport or travel document. Also include any other names you have been known by. Page 8

9 Applicant contact details Enter your own contact details within the UK. Tick I want to receive mail at a different address. Choose Enter address manually and enter the following address, depending on your campus: Exeter campuses: Amelia Mansfield ISSO, Uni of Exeter, Forum Stocker Road Exeter EX4 4SZ Cornwall campuses: Sarah Batchelor ISSO, Uni of Exeter, Peter Lanyon Building Penryn Campus Penryn TR10 9FE Page 9

10 Your gender and relationship status, Your nationality, country and date of birth, Your passport Answer the questions about your gender, relationship status, nationality and so on in full. If your passport has been lost or stolen select No and on the next screen select You have lost it / it was stolen. Your National Insurance number Enter your National Insurance number if you have one, or tick the box to indicate you do not have one. Convictions and other penalties Answer the questions truthfully, including information for ANY country (not just those from within the UK). Selecting an option from the list directs you to another page or free text box where you can add further details. Listing past convictions will not automatically mean your application is refused. However, failing to mention something here will likely mean your application will be unsuccessful. Always be truthful here and read the definitions and statements very carefully before you answer. 11 Indefinite leave to remain Answer if you have Indefinite leave to remain (ILR). If you are a Tier 4 student then the answer to this will be No. Your visa or leave Indicate what kind of leave you have, and the start and end dates of your visa. This information is printed on your BRP (you can obtain a copy of this by contacting ISSO). If you extended your visa whilst in the UK it is Leave to remain; if you applied for your visa from your home country it is Leave to enter. Page 11

12 Refugee or humanitarian protection This will most likely be No if you are a Tier 4 student. Dependent of a refugee or someone with Humanitarian Protection Again, answer No if you are a Tier 4 student. Time lived in the UK Calculate the number of years and months since you arrived in the UK. Absences from the UK Answer if you have spent more than 6 continuous months outside the UK during this time. If you answer Yes please provide details of this absence. Home Office travel document This will most likely be No unless you have previously lost your passport and needed to use a travel document to get home. Change of personal details Here you can detail any changes of personal information since your last visa application such as name, nationality, facial appearance or gender Home Office reference number Enter any reference numbers you may have from previous applications. These will be on any official letters sent to you by the Home Office. If you don t know them simply select No. Page 12

13 Your biometric residence permit (BRP) Indicate that your BRP is lost or stolen and enter your BRP number, if you know it. If not, leave it blank. Page 13

14 Lost or stolen document Specify the date that your BRP was lost or stolen and in the free text boxes below explain how and where your BRP was lost or stolen. Reporting loss or theft to the Home Office If you have already reported your BRP loss or theft to the Home Office (i.e if you lost it whilst outside the UK) here then select Yes and enter the date you reported it and that you did it Using the existing lost or online form. If you haven t yet reported it lost or stolen select No, I am reporting it now. Reporting loss or theft to the police You must report your loss to the police either using ReportMyLoss or to the local Police Station. Enter the location of the police station (if ReportMyLoss enter ReportMyLoss.com ) and enter your crime reference number if you have one. If you have a police report select yes and bring it to your appointment. Page 14

15 3. Stop and book an appointment STOP! Stop when you reach the section below where you can check your answers. Click on Return to this application later at the bottom of the page and the link to yourself. You should now book an appointment with ISSO, by contacting SID When you come to your appointment you will be required to log back in so that an adviser can check your answers and complete the application with you.
