Neighbourhood First in Nepal Intro:- On June 7, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Nepal, marking his fourth term as Prime Minister. Turbulent politics in Nepal which makes him the 24 th Prime Minister since the beginning of multiparty democracy in the country 27 years ago Local body elections- These elections were last held in 1997 Estimated significant that more than $5 billion will now be spent by the local bodies on infrastructure(eq) and delivery of social services. Madhesis Problems. Constitution- New Constitution promulgated in 2015, seven provinces have been created Relations with India- Blamed India for stoking the Madhesi agitation and imposing an economic blockade. Deuba s challenges- primary responsibility is to ensure that provincial and parliamentary elections are held before January 18, which gives him a tenure of under eight months. Immediate challenge is to conclude the 2 nd phase of local body elections scheduled for June 28
Continue China has been stepping up its presence in Nepal. 1)-Possible rail link- Road link with Tibet. 2)-Belt and Road Initiative and a special economic zone has been promised. 3)-For the first time, joint military exercises were held in early )-1,200 MW hydel project on the Budhi Gandaki river was awarded on EPCF (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance) basis to the Gezhouba group. India needs to support Mr. Deuba s efforts to conclude the local body elections followed by the passage of the constitutional amendment. Which will clear the way for the provincial and parliamentary elections under the new Constitution. This will go a long way in bringing political stability to Nepal Importantly, India needs to ensure speedy delivery of the generous pledges of over a billion dollars committed during the last two years to make good on Mr. Modi s neighbourhood frist policy.

Leave them students alone Intro:- Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Foisted two more board examinations on unsuspecting students from next year. The council has always claimed to be student friendly, so officials have hastened to point out that these examinations would be application-based and would not require preparation. 1)-Inclusion of Sanskrit as an optional language from Standards V to VIII 2)-Introduction of mandatory yoga from Standard I. Freedom Selecting textbooks CISCE- minimum monitoring- Attempting to take control of the entire school curriculum. Focus on the teacher- focus should be on teacher training and teacher development. Indian education system is constantly blamed for being too exam and textbook-oriented. Time and energy should be spent on improving the administration of these important exams Instead of invading new areas which will only result in the dilution of existing services.
Continue Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) A national level, private, Board of School education in India that conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and the Indian School Certificate examinations for Class X and Class XII respectively. It was established in 1958 The then Minister of Education- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, presided over a conference in 1952 on pan-india level Certificate examinations. The aim was to consider the replacement of the overseas Cambridge School Certificate Examination by an All India Examination.
Six days of war, 50 years of occupation Intro:-Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, while addressing his pilots at airbase in Sinai Peninsula. A week earlier, Nasser had remilitarised the Sinai Peninsula. A week after Nasser s speech, Egypt and Jordan Cold War enemies signed a joint defence agreement. Israel read these developments as preparations for a major war. On June 5, within six days of the Jordanian- Egyptian agreement, Israel launched a surprise attack on Egypt, totally destroying the Egyptian Air Force in one day.
Continue Sixth day of the war, on June 10, Israel had captured 1)-The entire Sinai and Gaza Strip from Egypt; 2)-The West Bank and eastern Jerusalem from Jordan; and 3)-The Golan Heights from Syria. The U.S. offered diplomatic protection, advanced weapons and financial aid to Israel. Remained one of the pillars of American foreign policy in the region. Myth of Arab unity broken Egypt, the strongest of them all, would take years to recover from the humiliation it suffered They promised to withdraw from Sinai and Golan but decided to continue military presence in the West Bank and Gaza until peace agreements were signed with Arab countries. Since the June 1967 war, the undeclared policy of Israel towards the occupied territories has been to continue the occupation.
Conclusion Arab countries, in the Sep 1967 Khartoum(capital and largest city of Sudan) conference, declared their famous Three Nos 1)-No peace with Israel, 2)-No recognition of Israel and 3)-No negotiations with Israel Israel agreed to the establishment of a Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Gaza as part of the Oslo Accords(capital of Norway) in the early 1990s. Today, 50 years since the end of the June War, 1)-Israel is still on the Golan Heights, the Syrian territory which it promised to return after war; 2)-East Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want as the capital of their future state, remains annexed to Israel; 3)-Gaza, the tiny Mediterranean strip that houses about two million Palestinians, is today the world s largest outdoor prison, blockaded by both Israel and Egypt; and the 4)-West Bank remains an Israeli colony.
